An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

After receiving a response regarding cycle changes, I have decided there will be no change to Day cycles (i.e., they will remain at 48 hours) for the time being.

Day 6 Vote Tally

DevliN: FaRTy1billion
Dem0n: FaRTy1billion
OlimarandLouie: FaRTy1billion
Bar Refaeli: FaRTy1billion
LoTu)S: FaRTy1billion
Observer12425: FaRTy1billion
Leon-037: FaRTy1billion
l)ark_ssj9kevin: FaRTy1billion (8)

Leading Candidate(s): FaRTy1billion

Final Tally

Day 6

The town had grown wise. They knew the mafia were nearly defeated, and they knew who the last ringleader was.

"Death to FaRTy1billion!" Shouted OlimarandLouie. "I saw him murder Stacy Keibler!"

"Well done, detective," the town's most respected leader, DevliN, stated. "FaRTy1billion, you will not live to see tomorrow."

"None of us will," declared Dem0n with alarm. "Don't you guys get it? There will be no tomorrow!"

"Yes, there is no tomorrow for mafia scum," agreed LoTu)S.

"No," Dem0n insisted, "I mean there literally will not be a tomorrow! This is the end of times!"

Everyone chose to ignore the hysterical Dem0n as they set the noose around FaRTy1billion's neck.

"How repulsive," FaRTy1billion spouted. "We could have led this town to one of greatness! Your feeble minds do not understand the dangers of democracy. You see that man right there?" FaRTy1billion pointed at Dem0n, who was drawing an end-of-the-world sign to hold up. "His vote counts just as much as yours. Fortunately, my team has already eliminated the worst offenders of your pathetic town. Mayhap you'll have a chance; or perhaps the cards will come tumbling down as you realize the true reason we fought for this town."

"That's enough talk out of you," replied Observer12425. "We know how to govern ourselves. You were only a plague."

What remained of the mafia's influence quickly fled Shouldabout as their last and wisest leader was executed.

Epilogue

Let me tell you a story. What? No, not that one. I'm sure you'd like to know what's become of Shouldabout, no?

Let's start with Dem0n, the poor bastard. He was convinced that there would be no day after the day the last of the mafia were lynched. He was always an odd one - a political man. Anyway, I guess you could call it a self-fulfilling prophecy: he committed suicide just before midnight of the day he feared would never come. To this day, I know not why he chose that path.

How about the bartender, you ask? Well, ol' LoTu)S fell on some hard times, sure, what with Stacy Keibler no longer there to drink the place dry, but he's managed. Alcohol is a good investment when you're surrounded by death; people need an escape. The Tank remains open, and there are many patrons to replace those lost in the mafia rebellion. As for LoTu)S, he still to this day has not had a drop to drink himself. Or at least that's what he says...

Kate's Grocery, despite losing its CFO, lil-Inferno, in the rebellion, is still doing well regionally, and reports record profits internationally. Despite this success, our friend l)ark_ssj9kevin has yet to receive a pay raise. He doesn't mind, though; the Shouldabout branch is quite calm, and he gets paid for doing virtually nothing. OlimarandLouie, on the other hand, left his employment at Kate's and went on to become a rather successful private investigator. Sure, maybe it isn't as exciting catching someone cheating on their spouse than it is watching a murder happen in front of you, but OlimarandLouie seems to enjoy it, perhaps even prefer it. What a strange fellow.

Say, do you remember the Diamond World Bank getting robbed? Perhaps you were more interested in the death of Generalpie, which occurred on the same night. Think back and you may remember hearing its alarms ringing. Were you ever curious on who the culprit was, the one the police couldn't find? Well, OlimarandLouie got to the bottom of it several weeks later, after he remembered a certain investigation he had done the night before. Unfortunately for him, Leon-037 is long gone, no doubt living a life of luxury under a pseudonym. That magnificent bastard has it easy now, I'm sure.

That leaves the doctors. Well, doctor. You see, DevliN never really was a doctor. Not a real one, at least. Observer12425 is now the Dean of Medicine at St Arbor, and DevliN is still a black-market surgeon. Interestingly enough, however, DevliN, despite his shady background, has been elected as the town's new mayor after demonstrating great leadership potential. We'll see how he does; I've removed a mayor before, and I'll do it again if need-be.

I guess that about wraps it up. Oh, me? I'm still doing the usual: telling stories, serving justice, and ultimately subjugating the town behind the scenes. You may call me Bar Rafaeli.

There was disorganization, but some of sending two votes was to counter doctors. ;o

Also early in the game I really was gone a lot. ;o I was on SEN quite a bit, but most was not watching mafia thread.

What really sucks is I almost considered getting olimar ...

EDIT:
Also lanth, I believe, was holding back on making hits to help clear him. In the first few days where I wasn't really active I was a bit afraid it'd be pinned on me.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

@All the notes against me, pointing out how dumb it was to claim Doctor in public: I originally posted a townsperson claim, but forgot to completely change it to make it sound like it wasn't a Doc claim. Raccoon picked up on this, so I just made it a full on Doc claim. My intention was to be a single hub as opposed to what seemed like different alliances, and the hope was that I'd be contacted by the other power roles before dying to get the Town organized. Lucky for me, the Mafia was less organized than we were.

EDIT:
I also had Observer protect Olimar the whole game and just left myself open. I was so sure I'd be hit the whole time. I still don't get why I survived.

This game came down to a lot of luck I think - that the investigator followed me (ok, maybe not luck, but I think it was just a random choice?) and that poison stupidly didn't hit Devlin when he was supposed to. He thought that the investigator would go to Devlin and then our roles would revealed, but didn't send me a PM saying that, otherwise I would have told him he was wrong.

After Devlin was set up as the obviously trustworthy hub, mafia was pretty much doomed with both doctors alive.

As for my propping up of Kame, I was just trying to get on her good side as she was making a bit of commotion up-front. Unfortunately Azrael didn't trust her and so she became worthless as a confidante. Also my vote on Kevin was because Azrael had set up an alliance where he believed both me and poison to be townies (hah) and suspected Kevin as being mafia, so my vote there was more of a signal to other members in the alliance than anything else.

My lack of hit on night 1 was due to my shenanigans around the activity check - I was sure an investigator would follow me so it wasn't worth using my hit, but evidently they didn't.

Kame actually really believed you were a Townie, bridging her alliance and Aristo's alliance. The decision to have you followed was sort of luck. I sent a PM to Olimar of my suspects and said to follow you or I think ray. As a side note, I had assumed ray was some sort of power role until he died, actually.

I read a lot of Azrael, but I thought Azrael didn't want to play when there's clues? But hey, at least he wasn't officially playing so he didn't have to admit that he'd play regardless.

Also I'm a bit miffed that Mafia offed me that early (but hey most of the time I die Night 1 so maybe I should be thankful) even though I wasn't even helping town much or had an important role or anything... Props to our town hub though even if it was born out of a mishap. (lol)

DevliN - it seems that, although I used my ability unjustifiably few times, that when I saved you the mafia decided their resources were better spent elsewhere, and eventually when only Lanth remained it was impossible for you to die (even though in reality, I only once protected you)
gg, all

Roy, god, you weren't kidding about hiding those clues well, and I was thinking at exactly the right level of depth at which you hid those clues. Unfortunately, I gave up a bit prematurely. I have to argue that some of the clues were a bit straw-graspy even if they were discovered though, for example, the one against poison on night 1. However, I'm happy and a little impressed that you lived up to your promise to bury them deep; it's rather irritating to lose a game as mafia because of an errant clue.

Oh, but I have to ask - your plot line ended pretty awesomely, but what was your backup plan in case the vigilante and the mafia all died? I assume that if the mafia won, that the MVP or one player off of the mafia team would've been the one telling the story, but that wouldn't work so well if all the killing roles were dead=)

I am a firm believer that clues shouldn't be a defacto determination on who is mafia; the clues in my other games are variably easier because there are roles to manipulate clues, but this game had no such clues. Still, I think a good number of them were within reach of discovering.

The Vigilante was the narrator from the beginning; when he was saying the person was being foolish and arrogant, he was talking to BiOAtK, who kept false-claiming to being mafia. If the Vigilante died, he would have narrated his own lynch, and then there would be no more narration (the epilogue would probably just have been written as a regular post). If the mafia won, they would have returned the town to one of regulation (speed limits on roads, quality control on food, etc.).

Also:
Quote from Roy
Max was his name. Max was a simple man. He didn't want to get involved in politics; he just wanted to provide for his family. Max and his family worked as gardeners - farmers, if you will - who made a comfortable living by growing crops. Crop. Plants, rather. That's not the point.
Max was a pot dealer, if you never picked that up. It was legal at the time, but the Bureau hastily decided to outlaw it and make an example out of Max and his family. This is not really important to the game, but I thought I'd point it out as some people seemed to miss it.

EDIT: I forgot to mention: I put in a pointless triggered event in this game for if the Detective (OlimarandLouie) visits Leon-037 (who got a role PM saying he planned to rob the Diamond World Bank), he would see Leon preparing for something, and on the following night, Leon would rob the bank. I was so happy when it fired; you have no idea. :awesome:

wth is starcraft

Good game everyone. :kame:

I knew the vig killed me! Dammit Raccoon this is because I wouldn't side with you last game, huh? :bleh: You wasted your hit, you know. I would've been a good candidate for the mafia to badnwagon; you could've fallen in line behind them and used your vig powers on someone else...instead I kinda became a martyr.

And to respond to my notes to you, Roy:
First, with the comments on the FDA and organizations. I'm pretty sure that's not how it works, I'm pretty sure that small towns "borrow" neighbor contracted groups to do that. Anyways, I know for a fact FDA officials and stuff are not allowed to sample samples, because the biggest fuck up we could've done at Starbucks was offer to buy them a drink because it shows favoritism. ;P So yea, I knew it wasn't a copy of the real world (see: demon's thread, where I constantly told him that if this was the real world, each member would be tied up in litigation for years, which would suspend the mafia game indefinitely while court was in session). Anyways, I was being pedantic. :bleh: I knew you couldn't respond to everything I was saying so I was just having fun.

I also want to say that I think, had I been involved with more mafias (this is only my....third?), especially mafias you hosted, I wouldn't have been as upset about my role pm. It was very suspicious to other townies; I wish they had understood that since I was a newbie I wouldn't know that this is how you did roll PMs. Had I known I think I would've kept my mouth shut until someone asked me for information.

Quote
Unfortunately Azrael didn't trust her and so she became worthless as a confidante.
That's fine...the information I was reporting back to Devlin helped him further instigate you as mafia. And of course I'm a worthless confidante; in every game I talk to much, ask too many questions, and am generally suspicious. :awesome: It's part of my gimmick. Also, suspicious as fuck when Az started backing you up. But more importantly...I want to quote this as the reason why I won't have Azrael playing my mafia game. If he's going to complain and backseat drive other mafias then I don't want him to be a part of mine anyways. Seems like he'll find a way to get involved anyways so why invite him in? :awesome:

Also, EDIT:

I ALWAYS BELIEVES ARISTOCRAT WAS A TOWNIE. I DID NOT WANT A TOWNIE TO SURVIVE THAT HAD A KNOWN ULTERIOR MOTIVE WHEN WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY GOOD LEADS YET. HAD WE BY SOME LUCK ACTUALLY HAD LEADS ON SOMEONE I WOULD'VE SWITCHED MY VOTE.

poison PMed me his role yesterday. Theoretically I should say he's a confirmed Townie, but there were things that stood out that caught my eye, and things that have happened since that make me suspicious (i.e. a lack of hits perhaps in case I had him Investigated?).
Any Joe Smoe could have made a typo when sending out several PMs! I even had a typo in the intro post; I'm surprised you held that against him, but I guess it worked to your advantage. (In case you didn't know, the mafia were supplied with surplus townie role PMs so they could see my writing style for this game; I guess they were too lazy to write their own and just use the ones I provided.)
Actually, there wasn't a typo I'm aware of. Fun fact is that Farty missed sending in a hit on someone so there was no hit that night. Granted, it would've still looked silly and I probably would've still been lynched, but chances are much good that I may have been able to wriggle my way out somehow. Combine that with my internet shitting out and me saying "fuck it" and forgetting to check if my message to send to Lanth, I'd say this game was terrible for Mafia.

I'm mafia.
Me too, what a coincidence. Though I don't even remember seeing your name on the mafia PM...Odd.
You do this every time you're mafia. Did you think nobody would catch on again? Well, not a bad assertion, since nobody seemed to remember that my introduction posts are always prewritten before roles are assigned.
You're right, Roy, I do do this every time I'm mafia. And generally speaking people don't catch on, for whatever reason. At least I can run future games on the track record that I'm almost always honest, particularly early in the game. It's a win-win when you play with people that don't expect honesty from you. Because if they believe you, great, and if not, then a bout of "I told you so"ing is appropriate.

It almost seems like a vig hit to me, but whatever.
With the writing style I used, the Vigilante and Mafia are indistinguishable; they both want to better the town and act in the name of what they consider justice. This was a good comment, because it shows that you do not know the answer (even though you do).
I wasn't aware of this, or at least I had completely forgotten about it when I posted this. Trust me, many (actually, to be more accurate, "most" should be used here) "good" comments I make in a game of Mafia are entirely accidental.

Quote from Roy
Quote from poison_us
Demon seems too sure he's mafia. Beyond a shadow of a doubt. Likewise for anyone that defends him in the slightest. And, as I've claimed many times before, I is Mafia, so I must defend Aristocrat, by Demon's logic.
Sounds good on paper, but Mafia would almost never take such a stance against a townie, since they know the townie will show as innocent, so this more leads to Demon being innocent. I'm guessing most people reading that didn't go through that train of thought, though.

Ugh, that mafia claim again.
You act like people reading my posts actually read into what I say at all. I'd be surprised if people noticed if I had somewhere included my actual mafia PM. Besides, if you want to take the stance that I was defending myself (I may have been, I rarely remember my motives for doing most things anywhere), "Mafia would almost never take such a stance against a townie" indicates my brilliant stroke of logic, as I would be fairly reasonable clean on this stance :P

To the best of my knowledge, Farty isn't terribly vocal anyways. Hell, I'm far more vocal this game than I normally would be, but that's simply because I had tons of free time on Sunday. And a relative abundance of it on Monday. So by the activity logic I could be Mafia as well, if you're considering it as an aberration of activity.
Good defend for Farty, neutral enough to not raise too much suspicion if one of you dies. And well done tying in that "I am mafia" motive.
Shanks. Though I didn't say this explicitly to defend Farty, mostly just to point out that activity is not an indication of guilt for any player. I might have stated the same thing for a townsperson, especially early.

Quote from Roy
Quote from poison_us
Quote
A person had been hanged, [color=red]though not by the town's democratic choice. With shoelaces just barely brushing the dirt, she suffered a fatal case of snapped neck.
I think Kame was killed by a vigilante. Any other ideas?
This was cringe-worthy for me. That quote has absolutely no indication that the Vigilante killed Kame; it was pointing out that people get hanged by lynching, but this person, who was also hanged, was not voted for a lynch. It seems like you only asserted this because you knew that it was, in fact, a Vigilante kill, since your team didn't kill her. I have no idea why Devlin agreed with that analysis; maybe he was just speaking based on strategy.
From a townsperson's perspective, the way I saw it, the kill had a hit that came from the town "not by the town's democratic choice". While looking back, it does seem a bit obvious that that's a stupid thing to say, but at the time it made sense that the way it was worded indicated it was from a vig hit.

Quote from Roy
Quote from poison_us
You apparently missed the point where I'm being bandwagoned by the only hub the town has. To go against it, even if you're clear, is stupid.

I'm simply speeding up the process. No use hindering progress, now is there?
Really? No exit strategy? You should have thought of something after seeing how well Lanthanide's forfeit favored your team.
No, no exit strategy. Best chance I saw that I had was that if DevliN saw no reaction, as I had already claimed townsperson, would be to simply let him do his thing. If I resisted, like anyone other than Tempz because he's an awesome spectacle of oratory mastery, I would've simply made myself look thousands of times more scummy. Best chance I had would've been to find some clues on Farty and bus him, but then again if that had happened I'd be on my own and ruin my name. This game was over as soon as I missed sending Lanth the PM saying "don't fuck with DevliN tonight. He's got at least one doc on him, and there's no way in hell you're gonna kill him without the detective being all balla and outing at least one of us." Then again, I didn't fully understand the detective's abilities, and Lanth would've been caught no matter what he did if he resulting in a killing hit.
