Spray air fresheners never do anything unless the smells itself is temporary. If you open your window in the day not many bugs would come in ... it's mostly nights, mornings, and evenings that they would. If you just leave it open for a few minutes every day then that would help air it out and not many insects (if any) would even consider wandering their way in.

Also the carpet cleaners work very well. ... Unless you spill the water. Then you will have a smelly spot in your carpet for a long time.

Are there really that much bugs out your window? Because I'm pretty sure fresh air would really do a noticeable difference. (Do it for about 1 minute and you won't remember about it for the rest of your life.) Find the source of the smell, David. Whether it be the carpet, the furniture, the computer, or the paint on the walls, odor has to come from somewhere. It could just be the collection of the room as a whole, but in that case, everything would have to smell significantly enough to notice it.

I've never had a window that didn't have a window screen. Still, fruit flies manage to find their way magically through the net if you leave the window open overnight. They're tiny, soundless, and don't bite, though.

And your mouse is likely not infested. If it's shinier in one spot, it's either oil from your hand or just worn and glossy. If it's oil, simple Windex or something should take take of it. If it's worn, then that spot is gonna stay, in which case, just polish the rest of the mouse so it matches.

I don't use any air fresheners, because I never seem to need them. Just wash everything that hasn't been washed in a while, such as bed sheets, blankets, the dead bird under your desk, etc.

Are you wearing deodorant? did you clean your cock to make sure you don't have any left over dick cheese? Do you have a glandular problem? Could it be coming from your neighbors or something down stairs? Did something die in the walls (rat, cat, bat, hats, etc)?

Deodorant? I can confirm that my cock lacks dick cheese. I do not have any glandular problems that I am aware of. The smell is confined to my room, which rules out the possibility of neighbor involvement. There are no corpses in the walls. Except for my younger cousin, whose soul is rather delicious. I eat little chunks of it every night. It has a lovely melancholy taste.

Anyway, I've been circulating the air in the room more... Been leaving my fan on maximum, my door held wide open with a basket keeping it open. (Apparently, my door would usually shut on its own without me noticing, preventing circulation.) The smell's lessened... I would still like to find the origin of the odor, though.

Circulating the air is of course important, however, if you want to get to the root of the problem, it's less likely to be your carpet IMO and more likely that it's your pillowcase and sheets, wash those, and then Id get some sort of plugin, having a constant air freshener helps a ton.

Get over your insectophobia, it's going to make other people think you're weird (you are) and make your life much more difficult than it needs to be.

Is there any particular region of the room where the smell is stronger? Try sitting elsewhere for a bit (not in your room or anywhere the odor exists) then go and sniff out different corners of your room or something ... It might help narrow down where it is coming from.

Do they sell Wunderbaum where you live?

Reading through the thread, it's funny that each response I was going to make was made by Cecil first. I was going to say, you definitely wash your bedsheets and blankets and pillows, because they will smell eventually no matter how clean you are. The carpet is a good idea because of how much unseen grossness accumulates in it over time. Either one could easily be the culprit.

Also, having an open window can work wonders. I was going to suggest a window screen as well. I used a kind that can fit into any window, expanding to the opening, until I had new windows put in which have a normal screen in them. They do a great job of keeping everything out.

If none of those help, then you should seriously consider removing everything from your room one item at a time until it's 100% barren. Leave the windows open, let the room air for a few days. If the smell still persists then it's something coming from just outside your room (ie, a dead animal in the wall or under the floor, like mice). If the smell stops, then you can put each thing back into your room one at a time, making sure the smell doesn't return. It should be easy to figure out which thing is causing it if you do it like that.

If I was forced to bet though, I'd put my money on bedsheets or the mattress itself. Those things can smell nasty over a long enough period of time. You can get them cleaned though. You may as well just clean everything, really. Even if it's not the source of the smell, it's certainly been exposed to it now.
