1. Flood Hackers
2. The everlasting presence of Korean-titled gibberish in the game list.
3. The spawn in Temple Siege. Sure they help sometimes, but they block YOU more than THEM, more so when you really need them to get the fuck out of the way.
4. People who QQ when they get 3v1'd in Temple Siege.
5. The blacklist in lobby.
6. Bots in Broodwar channels that advertise their stupid clans. Seriously, Clans Are For Gays, no pun intended.
7. The extremely short list of games when you press Join in the lobby. Come on, Blizzard, there are tens of thousands of players online, and you only show me 20 games? Half of which I can actually join? Half of which are in English?
8. Sometimes when you join a game, the player slots don't show up for a very long time.
9. The lack of a Starcraftish mouse cursor in the lobby.
10. The Leagues button in the lobby?
11. Channels that kick/ban you for swearing. (OP Dclone is one of them)
12. The blacklist in the lobby.
13. Don't know if I mentioned this already, the blacklist in the lobby.
14. The lack of games in any other category but Use Map Settings, Top vs. Bottom, and Melee.
15. The dominance of Fastest maps in top vs bottom.
16. The fact that half the games displayed in the game list have red bars. If you can't join them, why have them displayed?
17. Korean ASCII text in game titles.
18. Too many server requests.
19. The incredible amount of time it takes for Battle.net to inform you that the game you are trying to join has latency.
20. Refl3ct
21. Repetitive maps hosted.
22. The average RPG hosted is to walk around with your hero and kill stray units, typically Zerg units, on the way. I won't name maps.....Lord of the Rings RPG.
23. Boot 'n' go.
24. My colors get messed up in the Overview scores screen, the in-game lobby screen, and he water in the map while using Windows Vista 32-bit if I alt tab and it is COMPLETELY by chance if I continue to alt tab and come back in if it fixes itself.
25. The long list of channels displayed when you press the Channels button, which are 99% empty most of the time, except for Clan Recruitment which is a fucking waste of time.
26. The incredible amount of time it takes to open/close a slot, switch positions, and select your race from the time you select it to the time it actually happens.
27. Is it just me or does Low Latency always feel like Extra High Latency?
28. People who get upset at challenging maps because they suddenly run into an enemy with a lot of life and damage.
29. Sometimes when you type /f l, this is what you see: notice how #17 is missing....strange.

30. In Temple Siege when someone is dling and you ask them: What unit is archer? they first say sup, then you ask, but little did you know, "sup" was the last thing they were ever going to say before you ban them. It's like they can't see you asked the question.
31. People who don't say gg after they've lost in Temple Siege, instead they just say: lol my teammates sucked. Person has left the game.

Oh forgot to add this one:
32. A clan, if you're in one, is something to be proud of. If you're in one, you should honor it because you're unique. You don't want just anybody joining your clan. Hell, I'm clanless so if I ever need a clan, I just visit the clan recruitment channel or one of those spambots in the broodwar usa channels and bam I'm in the clan. No tryout.

1. Clan spam bots in all of the default channels.
2. People who don't read instructions.
3. People who don't read people in the chat yelling at them.
4. The lack of a system to filter out Korean games and high latency games.
5. The lag problem that happens when two people are behind the same router.
6. People who join my games just to ask me to leave and host something else.
7. How maps with lots of sounds take forever for people to download.
8. No game record for UMS.
9. Nobody joins anything I host if it isn't UMS, TvB, or Melee.
10. People who say a map is rigged just because they fail to read the instructions or just are bad at it, while I get no complaints from people that are at least a small iota better than them.

That's from people including alt codes in game names. It also has the same effect on /whois. So if ever some noob is trying to follow you around, just host a game with an alt code in it.

I'm kinda confused on what newb is. It's used far less than noob or nub. Often times, pros call a player a newb out of endearment (instead of noob). Usually like the "newb" is their pet or something.

Thats due to the fact battle.net messages can't properly display some of those random symbols/characters that come out when you join a korean game (or someone using stupid alt codes in their game name>_>) " ☼ " is one of those symbols. The message you get from the person as a game-joining notification will look like a blank message.

Noob = Annoying Player
Nub = Stupid Player
Newb = New Player (not always derogatory)
EDIT: Any of the 3 can also mean low level of skill.

An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

Newb is just short for newbie, which is an actual word in the English dictionary. Noob is slang and likely derived from newb with popular internet spelling alteration, but has taken on more of a meaning of a bad player rather than a new player.

Nub is actually also an English word meaning a small piece (of something). I'm assuming the word was developed and used to describe someone as insignificant, but it became known to be a variation of Noob perhaps because its spelling is similar and it would be pronounced as "Noob" in other languages (such as German).

In any case, the words are overused online and I'm sure other less ambiguous words would have more of an effect on players. Everyone's been called a noob before, and I don't really think it means anything to them when they've been labeled as one. Using a word such as amateur or ignoramus would have more effect, at least I'd imagine (and if not, there's the off-chance that they won't understand the word, so you can take a second shot at their intelligence, if you're up to it).

I think there is no need to simply the english spelling. The people just have to LEARN HOW TO SPELL.
Example here, hungarians have several dozen rules for several different things, you can never be sure where you write things together, or connect with - or write them apart. There are rules of course, but not all of them are obvious.
Hungarian has 44 letters, but that includes j and ly which have the same pronounciation, but messing them up in your spelling is a 3-point spelling error (the worst you can make). Example for words with j and ly are: tavaly, vaj, jégpálya, etc. the ly and the j are pronounced the same, but written differently.
There are several dozen rules for applying suffixes to words and their pronounciation differs from the spelling and the spelling differs from the pronounciation.
SO WHAT? IT'S LEARNABLE. If your language is English, then learn to SPELL your language. We do the exact same thing..!

So anyways, to be a bit more on the subject, I hate any sort of bans. Especially channel bans. Those who ban people from channels are not worthy of existence.

There is a hack out that removes the 6-latency games from your game list.

Battle.net Filter: http://www.icyhell.net/2008/05/06/starcraft-battlenet-filter/
Just tested it and it still seems to work, although a bit slow.

Let's see...
- When a host begins a game and a couple of other players are complete noobs, he remakes, and bans EVERYONE that rejoins (or anyone that he can remember). Lame shit. I'm HEINERMANN damnit.
- People who join your game, download the map, then leave immediately.
- People who leave at the start of the game.
- People who leave just because someone else left.
- People who leave at the countdown.

Jun 14 2010, 12:43 pm Zhuinden Post #74

I actually think that most of the people who leave at the countdown are hosthacked. Happened to me before, and I hate it when it happens. :O

Jun 14 2010, 6:18 pm TiKels Post #75

To counter countdown leaving, I actually say "Ok im going"
"5"
"4"
"3"
"2"
"1"
"0"
And THEN hit "OK"
Most people who were gonna leave b4 it starts leave at like about 3. Then you wait for more people and do it again.

I've never related it to nub (the small something word)... I've always read it as noob. ;o Just a lazier way of writing it.
