I wouldn't be surprised if this was the problem. I have previously seen, in the task manager, a massive memory leak where TM would gobble up to 2gig of memory within a couple of seconds and windows would kill it.

I've mentioned that somewhere before, probably in this thread. Failing that, in the shoutbox or PMs.

I'm unlikely to use your new version as I'm not really mapping any more. Anyway as I posted above, it doesn't crash if you use type 1 compression and with the newer versions it's only very slightly larger than type 2, for my map, anyway.

Ok well nobody has said anything, so I just went ahead and made this fix a new release build.

Just tried a few maps that were causing crashes on 7 with the previous version, and I haven't had an issue on either Type 1 or Type 2 compression. Great work, Farty and ShadowFlare!

What exactly is the problem? Still crashing?

Can you PM me the map, or is it a general issue? I can try a map on Win7 and WinXP and look at it to see if there is something else particular about it that crashes.

It just doesn't compress the map but instead it outputs a mostly blank map. It isn't any specific map at all though but I'm on Vista 64-bit if that helps.

I don't know what that map is supposed to be, but the -creep.scm is just the compressed version of creep.scm. It is perfectly valid as far as I can see ...

As Lanth said, usually it crashes if there is a problem and it fails to compress the map. And there would be a 0 kb file output.

Did you test the map in StarCraft? I don't know what it is supposed to be for, but it appears to work for me.

That's kind of the point of the program: SC really doesn't need a lot of what gets put into a map file in order to play it (a lot of that information is needed/used for map editors, which is why this program doubles as a protector). I compressed a map from 21kb to 2kb just now (a map that was experimenting with anti-drophack triggers), and it works as expected.

The fact that you couldn't believe the results is a testament to how well TinyMap2 works!
