Kinda dumb, but I guess the option is there. There's no advantage for the town to not lynch, but it opens opportunities for new strategies.

Yeah, it would have to remain anonymous like that. The HERETIC count would still drop by one, since it includes all mafia.

If your night hit is interrupted by something else, then obviously it wouldn't happen (Ghost's haunt ability can prevent it). It basically says "If this occurs, it will not miss."
Why would you ever want to use protection over shield? And also, what if a townie uses "Dodge" or another self-cast/one-use spell after a shield? Is the spell used up? Does it still carry out? By "Shield has priority" does that mean it still cancels out or it happens first?
Shield does not stop from regular heretic hits, which are probably more frequent. Besides, if one person hits, one person uses protection, and one person uses shield on a target, the shield blocks the protection that would have saved the person from the hit.

Also yeah, check the ability description. If it begins with Magic, it's a spell. Spells are magic based, Powers are not. Things like shield does not protect against Powers, only spells. Channel cannot manipulate powers, only spells.

*Hi-fives* It wasn't meant to be hostility, but I was just in a pissy mood that day. I just got kinda annoyed at how you assumed you knew what was right without being able to be 100% certain, norm could have easily typoed that, I mean who says in an ability "IF THIS THING WORKS, IT WORKS", it's redundant and pointless, so I wanted to understand whether it was a typo or just norm being redundant in his spell descriptions, something you cannot know with absolute certainty, and it bothered me that you would have the (take a pissy mindset when I say this and you'll understand) "arrogance" to do such a thing. Yeah I sorta repeated myself there, but meh I don't feel like fixing it.
