I just wanted to know what you guys would think of
DevliN as an administrator. While he has not been a Global Moderator for long, I feel that in his time here he has demonstrated the understanding and maturity that I feel is important. I also feel that he has shown the paitence, dedication and wisdom that I believe is necessary to lead the community. He has also shown initiative in his work and been proactive in community management from his position already. Furthermore, he appears to have time and is willing to do the job. I am open to your input.
And to think, less than two years ago devlin was PMing me asking about parts of his new moderator position
Honestly I'd have to talk to Devlin to really decide whether I thought he was worthy or not. Devlin, wanna chat?
Hey look! Someone voted NO! and it was wesmic, apparently a total new comer.
However, although I would love to be an admin by myself, I fully support you, devlin

He's not exactly new. He was just here before you get here and wasn't here by the time you did.
Though your point that he is massively uninformed and unqualified to vote is valid.
I voted yes, because you know...I could always use a little more influence up top > : D
Oh ya...and he's good at what he does and what not.
Yea, I figured I would vote due to the fact I didn't have a clue just like all the people who voted for Obama didn't have a clue that he was going to destroy our country(although it was pretty obvious to me).

None.
Devlin actually had to moderate me quite a few times (
) and nearly every time, I came back to him asking why (because I hate being moderated without knowing precisely why and I always want to have my word over the moderation
) and trying to prove him wrong: he always stayed pretty calm and argumented with me like a civilized man.
I like how he manages problems: he's very gentle, imo.
Yes.
And even +1 to Moose for creating the topic
None.

Sure thing.
And by 2 years, do you mean 4? I started moderating the old (now integrated into Arts) Media forum in 2006.

I've been around as long, if not longer, than wesmic. He can vote "no" if he wants to, as anyone can. I think it would be fair to ask why people would legitimately say "no," however.
From his post, I take it he thinks I may bring down SEN, or he's just doing it to be funny. Who knows.

There's no reason, other than Bullshit!, that DevliN can't be an Admin. Even now, he's on nearly every day.
"Parliamentary inquiry, Mr. Chairman - do we have to call the Gentleman a gentleman if he's not one?"
Sure Devlin would make a good admin, but the question is does SEN need another admin? What additional responsibilities would he have as an admin other than what he has to do as a gmod?
Unless Moose is actually stepping down, then I'm leaning towards no, unless I see some information telling me why another admin is needed.

MapUnprotector,
Mini Moose 2707 has just posted a new topic entitled "What is the function of administration?" in forum "Serious Discussion".
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm just curious as to the public opinion of what moderation and administration of a website (most likely this one
) should be doing. What are their functions?
I've been around a lot of types of administrators. There's the "ghost-like" admins who do stuff behind the scenes and are rarely seen and hard to contact. I've seen mean person admins that don't take crap from anyone and ban people like it were eating or drinking. But what I'm asking here is, what are the admins for?
As for moderation, there's lines to draw and such. What situtations warrant stepping into? What point is stepping in too far?
Important: This thread has to potential to actually influence policy. Please don't post "THEY SHOULD SERVE ME!" or other garbage.

>be faceless void >mfw I have no face
Moose is fading out. He doesn't often reply to PMs, doesn't take on an active role in the community, etc.
Red classic.
"In short, their absurdities are so extreme that it is painful even to quote them."
IP is our coder admin, Corbo is our PR "admin" (I put that in quotes because he isn't actually a Mod), and Moose is our community admin.
I think the idea is that I'd be a future replacement for Moose as he slowly steps down. I know for a fact I was not the first or second or third choice for this position, but I have proven thus far as a Global Mod that I am willing to stick to my guns and believe in what I enforce. As payne has suggested, I will almost always explain my actions for why a post was deleted or a topic closed, etc., and I have on occasion moderated other Staff members.

Just here for the activity... well not really
I voted no. I meant to say yes.

If he's up for putting in the effort and the time...
Is he? (He's made no objections as far as I can tell .. so I'll assume a yes, but I'd like a direct response. ;o)

Yes. I addressed it via PM to Moose when he brought this idea up to me, and just never said it openly.
As I said in the staff forum, I've been busy with work (and will remain busy for the next 3 weeks), but I'm still on SEN daily regardless.
Speaking of:

We air in two weeks and wrap out in three, so it won't be an issue for long.
