Looks good. But no offense, those beam frigate's attack looks pretty bad. Adjust the X offset to make the beams go further away from the unit so they don't look like that. (Unless of course, thats the way you want it)

I actually liked the original continuous beams. They just needed to be fired at the right offset from the unit.
It looked a bit good in that screenshot, but in different angles, the beams looked really bad.
I couldn't find a configuration for all the 17 frames, so I changed it.

Create your own graphic with 256 frames and have each one display depending on its direction. I've done it before.
