Hey, question: if we own a death note, do we need to investigate our target before writing their name or can we simply guess and hope for luck? For example, could I on the first night do something like:

Write the following names while visualizing the corresponding faces:

You have no idea what most of the players look like since your character hasn't physically visited them yet. For Kira, you do start out knowing the faces of your fellow investigation members, but for the other members, you don't.


Nope. Therefore, use the death note wisely. Randomly guessing is going to leave invincible players who will be a pain in the ass to kill, especially if you failed to kill L.

What prevents Investigative Unit players from sharing their pseudonyms via PM (given that they know one another according to page 1 rules: investigative units know one another as well as the identities of L and W) and then deducing the Kira by whichever pseudonym is publicly an investigator but whose pseudonym has not been shared by a member of the investigator-known investigative circle?

They are different people, so they each get their own guaranteed lynch. Additionally, X-Kira is town-aligned until Kira specifically uses his ability to transfer the death note to him, so he can get an easy win by backstabbing Kira if necessary.

Investigative units acquire a death note by lynching a player who possesses a death note, or be given one by an FBI Agent. Kira-aligned players can reobtain death notes owned by M by killing M.

Kira is among the investigators. Investigators know who the pseudonyms of other investigators, L, and M are, but not their actual SEN names. Investigators wishing to talk amongst one another can send a PM to me, and I will forward it to other investigation members. Revealing your SEN name associated with your pseudonym is very bad, due to Kira being able to kill as soon as he finds out what the names are.

So in order to death-note someone, we need their:

• Pseudonym
  
• Real name
  
• Face
  

Will we be explicitly told that we see someone's face? It seems like kind of an arbitrary piece of data that we need to track that has no concrete realisation in the game.
