Pidgin. With accounts for pretty much every service.
None.
I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

Trillian 4. This thing is awesome.
It's main purpose is to combine all your messaging needs into 1 program. AIM/ICQ, MSN/WLM, YM, Skype, IRC, etc. It even comes with support for Facebook, Twitter and eMail. In the pro version it's very powerful, yet easy to use without wasting your screen space (docking + autohide ftw.)
Downsides are that it's not always compatible with the newest advanced features like video conferences or audio chat because the creators of the various chat services are trying to push 3rd party programs from the market by changing their protocols.
It also comes with a scripting tool that allows you to do advances stuff like starting programs with hotkeys (I use Ctrl + Alt + S for sc) or playing a sound when a certain keyword has been received.
In addition to that it has fancy skins and still is very lightweight. (16MB RAM, 34MB HDD)
Big user base also assures useful plugins and plenty of skins.
I should totally charge money from Cerulean Studios for writing this. ^^
I think Pidgin is the main mutli (platform lulz) IM client. I used to use Trillian until it pooped out on me. It constantly logs me out of MSN though.
None.

I think Pidgin is the main mutli (platform lulz) IM client.
That's because
Trillian Pro > Pidgin > Trillian Basic
and Trillian Pro is not free. (unlike Basic and Pidgin) A lot of people don't know where to get a crack or simply don't want to bother.
Just here for the activity... well not really
Trillian, though not pro (I don't need any extra features)

I'm rarely on my IM accounts, but when I am I use Pidgin.
If I'm working on my Mac for some reason, I use Adium.

I used to have Trillian Pro, but it had a few issues.

I have ctrl+alt+S set up to run SC with Windoze.
Also Skype on trillian requires skype to be installed.
I also use Trillian (I have MSN and AIM).

Meebo. I used to use Pidgin (what was its name before? Now that you've said it I want to know) back when. I used to use Trillian. Sometimes I would use the individual clients. But anymore if I need to use IM - which I rarely do - I use Meebo. Otherwise I call people or send messages over Facebook.
EDIT: It was Gaim, right?
Yeah, it was the Windows counterpart to Adium.
None.

Then you have never experienced how efficient docking + autohide is. Imagine your contact list to work like the taskbar when set to autohide. Also no history? Hard to imagine... but have it your way.

Don't you need to pay for pro?
