What kind of specs do you think youll need for something like this to happen in real time?
I can actually handle about 150~ non-dragon entities. For some reason, as soon as I try to make four or more dragons at the same time, it goes from perfectly fine to a standstill. When I start trying to spawn more than 150 (160+) the lag starts to appear, slightly at first and heavy as I start adding more units.
My system is ATI Radeon 5850 4G, 6G RAM, Intel i7 920 2.7GHz and running on 64-bit with a bunch of Skyrim mods that help the performance without losing quality (some actually improve the quality at the same time).
I know it was supposed to be epic, but I couldn't help but start laughing once I heard the Wilhelm Scream. I really want to use that ridiculous cannonball spell from Japhet's Folly, though (I'm assuming that's what that was from 2:50-3:15).
So then having a strong CPU would be like the main factor in having multiple actors appear in realtime amirite? I'm literally going to build a gaming pc around skyrim lol.

Might be the scripting and not the meshes themselves. Dragon scripts break enough that I imagine they are a mess. But that's just a guess.
Show them your butt, and when you do, slap it so it creates a sound akin to a chorus of screaming spider monkeys flogging a chime with cacti. Only then can you find your destiny at the tip of the shaft.
Naw, I'll give that to Dragon Age: Origins. At least Skyrim saves the game almost every time you enter/leave a place. Fucking DA:O would wait like 25 minutes to autosave, and in that time, you'd probably have gotten raped by a group of Darkspawn and had to restart from your last save from like twenty quests ago. >_>
Nothing wrong with the saving system in Skyrim. Three autosaves and quick save (didn't realise the latter existed till I'd played 130 hours though ) is good enough for me at least.

That sucks; quick save was the first thing I figured out how to do (remembering the feature from Oblivion). How did you get by without it?
Oh shit, I'm about to die! F5 Dammit! F9 Crap! F9 This is stupid! F9 Come on! F9 Almost! F9 Why didn't I save sooner!? F9 Success!
We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch
The hardcore mode should include that after loading you can't load again for say 2 hours, ideally that is. But crashes screw with this. Maybe they could invent a crash recovery. Then the pseudo hardcore players would crash their client intentionally.

Wait, there's quick save in Oblivion as well? And I don't really know how I missed it, I've just always thought Bethesda games didn't have this function. I got over a hundred different regular saves, latest being number 960 (after 197 hours).

Uhh, I never need to load, because I never ever stop playing. Ever. Its hardcore because just like in real life, the only way out is death.

What happens when the power goes out?
