And that's the main problem. You have Robert Downey Jr., Scarlet Johanssan, Samuel Jackson, Clark Gregg, and Chris Hemsworth paired up with actors that aren't on that level. Especially Mark Ruffalo.
You think Samuel L. Jackson is a higher-level actor? I just see him as iconic, and I'd argue he's one of the weaker (if not the weakest) actor among the cast.

From the reviews I've read, Mark Ruffalo was considered one of the better actors for the film, as well.

He's been in a huge amount of things and definitely has a lot more experience as an actor. I'd say he's got a wide range when it comes to acting, but only shows it if the script allows him to (see Star Wars prequels for example). His performance in The Avengers was nothing special, but it wasn't bad either.

He probably got the least screen time out of all of them. He also had this sort of slow, dopey approach to it: hard to tell if it was him or the script.

That's about what I'd expect as well: decent. To compare his acting to Robert Downey Jr.'s, though, I know which side I'm on.

Damn, and here I was guessing it'd be Hawkeye with the least amount of screen time.

Four more days and we get to watch this in the States.

The movie comes out on Friday (My birthday!) and I have been waiting to see it since Iron Man came out on May 1st, 3 years ago, and it had Samuel Jackson at the end asking him about the Avengers! It seems kinda nerdy, but I've been watching these superhero movies on my birthday for the past 3 (soon to be 4) years lol.

Hawkeye is up amongst the most screentime, but they were all pretty even (which a lot of the reviews talk about). Hawkeye's prevalence is for very clear reasons, which you'll discover very shortly after the film starts.

It will feel weird now watching Iron Man 3 and stuff, when they are like solo again. I feel like all those solo movies should stop and they should only make avengers sequels.

I wouldn't mind Iron Man 3 with Hulk in it heaps. They had really good (chemistry?) in the film, like, they were instant scientist buddies.

I also liked how some of them had history with each other:
Iron Man knew of Captain America because his dad helped create him. He also knew Hulk through the gamma radiation which was used for Captain America.
Captain America and Hulk both shared origins from gamma radiation.
Hawkeye and Black Widow are like the only two 'normal' people (I guess so is Iron Man but that suit ain't normal). And they are like war-buddies.
Thor is like the outsider of the group... but he knows Loki, the villain, so he fits in that way.

This movie was very, very badass. I wouldn't say it's AMAZING like Dark Knight, but it was still fucking awesome.

I also found the movie to be enjoyable. Stark is still by far my favorite character among them, and he's the primary source of verbal comedy.

Though the part that made me laugh the hardest was the scene where Thor was talking about how Loki was his brother, and Black Widow says he's killed 80 people in two days. Also, the Hulk had some pretty funny moments during the last battle.

I also agree with Lanthanide that the relationship/conflict between Captain America and Iron Man wasn't as developed as I would have liked; Howard Stark wasn't mentioned by name at all, and I don't even remember a mention that Captain America knew Tony's father.

Also, Hawkeye uses an aimbot for sure.

Whedon has said that there is something like 40 minutes of deleted scenes and the original cut of the movie went for three hours +. So fingers crossed for an extended edition!!

Thigh high affectionado

Fucking amazing. And I will say Inception amazing. Dark Knight good is pushing it, though I will be watching this one again.

Also I have to say, the guy they got for Hulk, looked like who I figured the guy not in hulk form would look like. He also played it quite well.

Oh, do you know why Edward Norton didn't play the Hulk? He even wanted to, but marvel said no.

Just Here For The Pie

I am going back to see it again with a big group of friends, but we are going to dress up as the Justice League.
We are going to be down in front booing the opening title bit.

I really enjoyed this movie, and look forward to seeing it a second time to see if I can catch things I may have missed the first time around.

There is a really decent cam available. Great audio, no syncing, and good visuals (best cam quality I've seen in awhile). No subtitles either.

This will tide me over until the DVDs come out.

P.S. Is it just me, or is the time between movie release and DVDs getting longer and longer?

It's just you. But I saw the movie on Friday, and it was amazing! Definitely the best Marvel movie so far. I also believe they should stop with the individual movies and create sequels to the Avengers because once they made a collaboration, it will seem weird when they are broken up again..

It's just you. Some DVD releases do take longer due to studios wanting to market them in a certain way, but in general their releases are relatively quick. Then again I still remember VHS releases taking 6 to 9 months, so I suppose I'm using "quick" in relation to VHS releases. :awesome:

Not gonna happen, unfortunately. They will be making a sequel (or maybe two) to The Avengers, but they're also doing sequels to the individual films.

Yeah, it does seem weird hearing about Iron Man 3 when there's going to already be a sequel to The Avengers. I'm surprised all the actors are up for so many of the same type of movies.

It was alright but it really felt like the real battle was the one of who could be the most sarcastic and ironic. I'll watch the next avengers to see what's up.
