Uncover the identity of the mysterious Ripper! Developer's ThoughtsWell, amazingly, I have finally finished a map. Yes. I am still working on my RPG, so stay tuned on that front. In the mean time, check this out! This was a great quest on Runescape, which struck a chord with me and inspired me to port it to Brood War. I do not claim the storyline as my own, it was made by Jagex.
The file size is quite large due to all the sound files, but I don't think that is a problem in this day and age.
Lastly, if you want to discuss the storyline in this thread, please use collapse boxes. Thank you, and I hope you have fun.

>be faceless void >mfw I have no face
It's about time!
Last time I played this it was pretty fun, the fact that it was all voice acted was nice, and the terrain was well done. Only problem being it was a Runescape quest xD I'll play it after exams when I have time, probably I'll stream it too.
Red classic.
"In short, their absurdities are so extreme that it is painful even to quote them."
This looks cool. Going to try it out now and report back. It's pretty funny that this is all a runescape quest.
Edit:
Yeah just played this all the way through. It was a pretty entertaining storyline. I liked the cutscenes, and the ending was pretty awesome. Good work!
Definitely an hour and a half well spent, I would recommend people play this.

Finally tried it out ! Didn't reach the end at all yet though.
As soon as it starts, the player is caught by the atmosphere, the story and the gameplay.
Very good work, it's a pleseant and unique map ! A trully nice discovery.
EDIT : Ok, I made it ! 1h30 of play and it was great !
P.S : The second time I played the map from the start, I got a weird issue where the n°8 Drone and n°4 Probe switched places in the shuttle. So the menu choice n°4 became n°8 and n°8 became n°4. Not a big deal though and I could still play the map without trouble, long as I kept this in mind.

Glad to hear people have enjoyed it!
Dude! Brilliant work Oh_Man!
This truly makes me rethink how I feel about Runescape. A quest of such depth kinda makes me want to check that game out again.

lil-Inferno and I checked it out a few months ago. It's literally horrible. The beginning of the game now features some intro cinematic where you're being attacked by goblins and shit. It doesn't make any sense. You can play Runescape 2007, but it's (obviously) the same thing from when you used to play. The only enticing feature is the nostalgic factor.
Ah, that's too bad. Anyway, if there are quests this awesome in the game, more should be ported over. Probably the best 1h30m I've spent in a SC map.

Thanks Swampfox!
Yeah, the quality of the storyline was what inspired me to port it over to SC.
I have a couple questions:
When choosing who you think did the murders, did that have any bearing on anything?
Was the quest in RS also presented in much of the same structure/layout as in the map? Like, were all those rooms of the abbey basically the same from the abbey in RS?
Were all the music choices and/or sound effects ripped from RS or original?
Was that terrain at the bottom simply for the fog of war effect?
I think thats it for now lol. I almost wanna go back and play it again.

Both in the original game and in my port: no. Your opinion on who you think the murderer is doesn't change the storyline at all.

Here's the layout:
I tried to replicate it as close as possible.

From RS.

Yes.

Just finished my play-through -- excellently done. Credit to the original writers, too. I knew some kind of twist was coming, but I didn't expect that...
If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.
Dude, you've gotta be kidding me. For one reason or another I never got around to playing this map even though I had downloaded it almost a year ago, but jeez... this is fantastic.
You're just on another level, man. There are other mapmakers in recent years who were able to blow me away with their talent (MetalGear, for example), and you are certainly right there at the top with the greats. I'm looking forward to finishing this hopefully tomorrow, and once I do I'll share my full impressions in here.
Remake of a Runescape quest or not, this is top-notch.
None.
Edit: Nevermind. I'm an idiot.

Thanks man.
How did you find it?
Fairly enjoyable map. I'm always finding myself impressed with people's terrain work. The biggest challenge was getting it to work. Apparently it runs crummily in single player, but fine multiplayer (or LAN in my case). Might help to mention it's not really playable in single player.
Probably not really spoilers, but it's about the storyline
Didn't take long for me to guess who it was. Not to say that's a bad thing, just a little cliché. Not that that's your fault.

I have left a note telling people not to play singleplayer.

Okay I have released v1.1 patch:
CHANGELOG
* Added two triggers which disable singleplayer.
* Fixed rare issue where shuttle menu options 4 and 8 would be reversed.
* Changed player colour to a more stable colour (138).
