I've realized (for a while now, actually) that life is pointless - to be lived merely for the pleasure and satisfaction of living itself. Perhaps, mix in "avoiding suffering."

So, now, I have a few questions.
-Why do people bother going to school/work/etc.?
-Why do people do the things they do?
-Why should I bother with staying alive?
-What should you and people in general bother with staying alive?

Is it merely because to die takes an extraordinary amount of pain and suffering before it naturally occurs (starvation, freezing, bleeding, etc.)? Or perhaps courage, to throw oneself over any sort of precipice or to pull the trigger of a gun whose barrel points at once head?

As background for my questions, I've been letting my grades slip down to 60s and 70s (from high 80s and 90s), playing video games (all day long) but not actually enjoying them (bad sign), and apparently, I've been told I need to be taken to the ER at a hospital.

Though, really, I just want to ask: why bother? Why live? Why do what you do? What purpose do you have? What is your reason d'etre? Well, not so much "what is the meaning of life," but rather, "why do you persist living?"

Do you enjoy it? If grades are really your problem I wouldn't even worry about it...there's so much more to focus on than grades...

No, I've nothing else I've enjoyed in a long while.

Last thing I half-enjoyed was watching "Shinryaku! Isa Musume," a comedic anime. I haven't eaten anything particularly delicious lately, I've been playing video games for hours on end with rarely a moment of actual enjoyment, I have had no motivation or interest in drawing, and the last thing I wrote was about killing individuality/metaphoric suicide.

People go to school in order to learn enough to be able to do a job they enjoy. You can find joy from a certain job. School-Committees are a very great source of joy for me as well. Getting involved keeps me away from staying in front of the computer for no reason.

I love small children, it brings me great joy to play with them and see their smiling faces. I believe that is what makes me happiest.

Try to stay off computers for a week, do other things, read books, sleep earlier, don't watch television, play outside / go take a walk about 20 minutes (At least), finish your homework...

If you feel like that, it may mean there is something wrong you are doing somewhere. Try to balance your life. Not sure if you are religious, but you could offer it up to god, put it in his hands.

Take some time to think about your life and re-evaluate it.

Well you can life life for the benefit of others, the benefit of yourself, or a combination of the two. Maybe you should talk to a counselor or doctor if you're seriously contemplating suicide.

Take a lot of drugs. Then you'll not just enjoy life, but you'll enjoy everything.


But more seriously.
How ahead in life are you? By which I mean:
You say about grades, are you in HS or college? Do you have a job (even a useless one)? How productive are you each day?

I find that the more you let go and less productive you get, the more lazy and unmotivated you become. Try taking another step forward. At the very least, it will give you something to do that isn't just wasting away.
If that fails, then my first, nonsrs answer.

Take life less seriously. In fact, take it entirely as a joke. Happiness can't be found everywhere, but humor can.

Find a hobby.

For me, guitar is huge.
You aren't probably gonna like the first thing you try... You have no idea how much money I wasted trying various things.

Become responsible for something that demands so much time and energy that you can't spend much of it on thinking about life's meaning.
