Payne, what you're saying is that "my girlfriend" should be everyone's girlfriend. ;o
I doubt you have a girlfriend.
If you had read all the posts you would have understood why it was in quotation marks and why you now look dumb.

Back* from the grave

Quote from Echo
64. Probably dead or retired from my steel mill factory. Man I hate my boss. Always yapping because my union is keeping me from getting fired. I wish I was young and hip again. No matter what I wear, I still feel old. I doubt I will find a lover. I'm 54 and I have no wife or children.
Instant belief.

Quote from payne
If people need a ring to feel safe about their relation (because it is, for a lot of people, "a manifestation of trust and commitment", as you put it), well, I am deceived about their couple.
Just wanna say this: I don't consider marriages based on a ring and a piece of paper. It's more about commitment, love, and all that jazz. Not everything can be defined by a piece of paper and a ring. Plus, it's becoming more and more economically equal to remain "single" but still have a lover in your house, at least in America.

I'm not a staffer. :P Edit: if I was, we wouldn't be having this conversation in the first place.

My involvement in this topic kind of requires me to answer the question in a meaningful fashion...

I hope I will be able to work via the internet and thus travel the world. I don't know what will happen; I have this goal and I hope it will come true, that's all.

I agree. xD

10 years is a long time. ;o I have no idea what I'll be doing. I'll just give the generic response: stable job/occupation.
Also I'd rather a sort of implicit marriage ... I don't really see the point of weddings. ;o

Find Me On Discord (Brood War UMS Community & Staredit Network)

I don't think much of marriage because I don't believe in religious nonsense. That reduces marriage to more of an official ceremony recognizing a feeling between two people that they already knew they felt long before.

None of that stupid Christian babble, thank you.

Haters gon' hate

Marriage isn't about the oaths between two people, or religion except for when Christians get married, it's about the PUBLIC oaths between two people, so that all their friends and family can see that they promise to be together through sickness, health, poverty, and riches. That way, it helps bond them together and if they consider breaking up, they remember that they've made public oaths (or they SHOULD remember they've made public oaths) and don't break up. If more people took their oaths more seriously, you'd have a lot fewer divorces.

For Christians, marriage is religious in that it's an oath before God, which makes it a whole lot more srs.

Pretty sure marriage is a religious institution, not just Christian.

I will say this - I wish marriage was deregulated in the states. That way, all of you can enter into a civil contract with your life partner - be you gay, straight, or with a heterosexual life partner (for example if a guy stuck in bachelor mode for the rest of his life wants his wingman to be with him should he die, I don't see why I should halt that), I'd be okay with it. But really...if you want to discuss this split the topic.
