Hey I hav an idea that im currently working on...how about making a map where...
The individual units are 'ingredients' to make more 'ingredients' in order to create 'tools'
Some units are 'food', whereby you 'eat' them to replenish your hunger.
I know you don't understand, so here's an example
Terran Marine is 'Small Wood'
Player 1 will order the 'Small Wood' into a certain location, whereby another unit is inside. The two 'ingredients' can be 'crafted' into other ingredients or tools. The tools are like weps that can be armed.
If you still don't understand...i'm making a template.
The foraging system and the inventory systems are done. Still have yet to do food , HP, buildings, hunger, thirst and more...anyway, here's the template...

I know you don't understand, so here's an example
No, I already understood at this point. It reminds me of mixing ingredients in Tux's
http://www.staredit.net/topic/14598/ map. I wouldn't necessarily say the idea is
new, just underused.
You should make the thread title something more appropriate so people know what the topic is about, such as "Mixing Ingredients System" or "Combining Items to Make New Items."
This reminds me of this Survival map that's pretty fun and was done a long long time ago...
None.
This also reminds me of all the mass maps where you could combine your units in various ways, using different areas and/or quantities, to get better or more useful units, and I saw those maps within the first few years of StarCraft.
Also, 'eating units' to replenish your energy is an actual ability in-game
It's also been done in the form of potions and other consumables throughout various RPG maps.
I'd say there could definitely be a much more informative, and more accurate, title used.
i tried to change the desc but they kept giving me errors saying that i wasnt logged in or i was ALREADY logged in...any help in that? This is the 11th time im trying to post...hope it works.

I used to have the same problem on the blackberry. Not sure what the problem is, but evebtually it just fixed itself. What browser are you using?
Anyway, I saw a survival map that pretty much emulated pretty much what you're saying. If you want I can try and dig it up when I get home.

So, a combination of McDonald's Defense and Minecraft?
Win by luck, lose by skill.

Death counters. Each unit type in SC has one; they can be manipulated through Set Deaths, and read through the Deaths condition.
You'll probably want to use an extended editor like SCMDraft to unlock unused units for this. (There are many units that either are completely unused, or which aren't obviously units; SCMD and some other editors can place them and use their death counters. Most of them are only useful for their DCs, because most of them crash the game.)

seems like an interesting way to re-create a system similar to minecraft... very interesting.

I use SCMDraft2, XtraEditor(hardly) and nothing else...is that okay?
Edit: i meant i wanted the current player to know exactly how many 'deaths' he has...

SCMDraft 2 should be able to do everything.
Here's the oldwiki on Deathcounters:
