Since Tempz was just recently released from the hospital, I'm going to make an exception and allow him to enter since roles haven't been distributed yet (unless there are any objections).

I'll send out role PMs and such in about three hours.

An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

Day 0

The sun softly peaks over the horizon. It's not even six o'clock yet, but the light stretches onto the peaceful town of Kaeben. No, peaceful isn't the word. The illusion of peace is truly resulting from what unfolded several weeks prior. This town, once governed strictly by the police and political officials, is now operated by only a handful of citizens, some of which seeking to control it completely.

---

It all started four weeks from today. The mayor was a despicable individual: greedy and heartless. Naturally, nobody enjoyed his position of power, and when elections rolled around, not one of them gave the mayor a single vote. This would have been a great day to start anew, had it not been for the electoral rigging. In a town of approximately 150 people with mutual spite for the mayor, it would have appeared as though he would have infinite control over their daily lives.

Some poor sap took it upon himself to eliminate the mayor by any means necessary. Through some investigation, he picked up leads on a former town controlled by a group going by the name "Mafia." The sap eventually dug himself too deep, and he was unexpectedly visited by a masked man. The Mafia member gave himself a brief introduction, and the sap pleaded for the death of the mayor of Kaeben. His plea was not necessary, though; the Mafia had already set their eyes on the town long ago. They had moved in at opportune times, blending in as regular townsfolk, spread across several months.

The outrage of the election caused protests and riots, but the police defended the mayor and squelched the rioters. The townsmen who could afford it decided to move away from Kaeben to escape the mayor's dictatorship. When people moved out, new people moved in. The town's residents changed swiftly over a short period of time, which was a perfect incentive for the Mafia to unfold the next stage of the takeover.

The town had awoken to find a streak of blood on the road, more blood that should be in a single human body. This thick trail weaved throughout the town, ultimately leading to the Town Hall. The early birds were the first to find the mayor's body. They were also the first to find the two dead police officers resting next to him. The death of the mayor was surprisingly taken only with celebration, and the town eagerly prepared another election.

The deaths did not stop. More policemen were found dead the next day. It wasn't that these murders were going unnoticed; it was that they were happening too swiftly for the police to act. It was clear that the police department was the target, and it was assumed that some vigilante was eliminating all supporters of the former mayor. The police tried to shut down the entire town, enforcing a "shoot on site" policy out of fear of their own safety. Members of the town were forced to stay inside their homes, and the police investigated each building sequentially. The Mafia are an impatient bunch, and as the police arrived at their homes, shoot-outs began. While it was a poor method of rooting out Mafia, the police had no other solutions, and as individual Mafia members were killed, groups of the police force were as well. Eventually, the Mafia were whittled down, and the police were completely eliminated.

Much of the town had fled in fear, but those that remained were determined to stay. A week went by with no deaths, and the remaining townsmen got back into daily routines. Everything was fine - for the town. The Mafia grew impatient once again, and decided to leave a message for those that refused to flee Kaeben. Remember that poor sap from earlier? His body was skewered atop a major intersection joining Main Street to Mafi Street; someone had scratched an "a" to reword the latter road to read "Mafia St."

To the Mafia's dismay, the town took this as a challenge. They were not men that would give up their town to a group of thugs. They all assembled at the Town Square, and declared that they will hang every last Mafia member in Kaeben. Every day, the town pledged to gather to the Town Square and vote publicly for the one they suspect to be guilty starting two days from that day. That was yesterday.

---

The townspeople of Kaeben methodically perform their daily routine, going out of their way to appear as innocent as possible. Everyone knows that today is a pivotal time, and anything that makes you a suspect will result in your hanging tomorrow. Some choose to rush to the local pub and forget this reality; others try to cling to friendship in hopes of survival.

"You're in the way."
"Huh?" The young man was standing on the sidewalk, looking intently at an old billboard for a business that no longer exists in this town. His eyes move to meet the gaze of the person across from him. "Oh, sorry." He steps aside, allowing the man to pass, but the man doesn't move.
"You shouldn't be in the way. Bad things happen when people get in the way." The man turns around and walks away from the young man.
"What the hell was that about?" The young man fixes his gaze back to the billboard. "How interesting."

The sun peaked above Kaeben. It was nice weather, not a cloud in the sky. A lazy genius sits beneath a tree, reading a large book in the shade. A bit of motion catches his eye, and he sees an elderly man approaching him. "Good afternoon," the genius briefly says, returning his attention to his book.
The old man lets out a series of coughs. "Why hello there. You wouldn't happen to have the time, would you?" He asks.
The lazy genius raises an eyebrow. "No, I wouldn't."
"You don't have a cell phone or a watch or anything?"
"No," the lazy genius replies. He couldn't care less if this man was late to wherever he was going.
"I see. Sorry for bothering you."
The lazy genius watches in his peripherals as the man walks away. He knows that it is approximately two o'clock, based on the direction and length of the shade he sits in.

A window shatters. A skinny man walks down Main Street with a baseball bat, smashing a pane every now and again. He walks with a smile on his face, genuinely enjoying the emptiness of the buildings here. His shoes loudly crunch on broken glass, and he continues this pattern even when another person spots him.
"What are you doing?!" The person demands.
"What am I doing?" The skinny man repeats, taking a moment to ponder it. His eyes move towards the sky, and he taps his index finger on his chin, trying to formulate the right words.
"Who do you think you are?"
"Who do I think I am?"
"What are you, a parrot?" The person grows increasingly aggravated with each moment that passes.
"No, I am most certainly not a parrot," the skinny man replies with a grin. "And I cannot answer your questions if you do not give me time to reply." He shatters another window.
"Stop that!" The person says, threatening the skinny man with a closed fist.
The skinny man begins laughing. "Is this town your treasure? Do you care for it so? Does this hurt you?" He begins to swing the bat again towards a building, but his confronter grabs it mid-swing. The smile drops from the skinny man's face. "Fine, keep your precious windows." He releases his hold of the baseball bat, and walks away.
"You'll be the first to go," the person muttered, still holding the end of the bat.

The shopkeeper sweeps the steps leading into his small general store. It is almost eight o'clock in the evening, and he's just starting the daily routine of closing shop. It is the only store still open on Mafi Street, as other businesses have been closed from the threat of the Mafia. "No customers today," he remarks to himself. Despite it being a slow day, he remained fairly optimistic about the future of the store. He knows there is at least one loyal customer out there.

Four men sit in an otherwise empty room. There they wait, not speaking to one another. The sun had set long ago, and the only lighting was that of a single bulb dangling on a string in the center of the room. One man pulls out a brass pocket watch, which appears to be chained to his jeans. "It's time."
The one sitting across him begins laughing loudly. The other three remain silent, allowing his laughter to bounce off the walls. "Well then," he says, suddenly turning serious, "See you guys at the Square tomorrow. Screw up, and I'll hang that noose around your neck myself."

Night 1 begins. Send in your night actions before sunrise (Thursday 22:00 EDT).
