I simply want to make a really fast paced action mafia game that's balanced any ideas?
The characters plot, ect has not been chosen yet.

Mafia Game Requires>>
- Interesting and Balanced Roles that serve there purpose
- Enough Players
- Activeness
- Good clue giving (but not blatantly obvious)
- Balance Between Mafia and Town (ie not too many roles with kill actions on one team, not too many players in general on another, etc..)

The key would be to have active players.

Win by luck, lose by skill.

Just wait for mine; it'll be good... :D

Honestly, though, the keys to a fun, balanced, and successful mafia game are (imo):

- Many interesting roles
- Lots of players
- Activeness
- Good clue giving (but not blatantly obvious)
- Balance of roles between two sides (ie not too many roles with kill actions on one team, not too many players in general on another, etc..)

Making all the roles in your game totally useless to the actual goal of the 2 sides in the game.

Identical numbers of mafia, grannies, each knowing everyone's role?

- Many interesting roles
I would argue against this. A lot of roles does not make a great game.

Having active players is really all that is needed. The game is an interest because of its psychological strategies, and without the participation of the players, the game has no point.

For the sake of Mafia on SEN, you should have correct grammar in game posts to win me over. Good storytelling doesn't hurt, either.

The order of importance from the suggested elements (in my opinion) is:
1. Active players
2. Good/Balanced Roles
3. Professionalism

You could have great professionalism, and an epic setup of roles, but if no one logs on, what does it matter? Mafia usually ends up being a few power players and a whole lot of meat shields. That's how it is when I play Mafia IRL or on Facebook. The 4-5 "experienced players" get killed/investigated/night actions done on them first, then the "noobs" remain.

So yeah, to be like the repetition bureau of repetition, find active players.

Win by luck, lose by skill.

Some of the first mafia games were the most balanced because of their role simplicity, good role proportions (townies/mafia/special) and, of course, active players that didn't do stuff randomly. For the last condition to be met, we really need a break from mafia games. I'd love to see all mafia games banned for a good several months and then revived with one, good game.

sounds like moisture control is often a pressing concern in your city
