I didn't choose to look through all the posts, but I do know one site that is useful for Open Source programs, games and utilities for many different OSes (Windows XP/Vista/7, Mac OSX, many different variants of Linux/Unix). You may browse or search, but make sure to look and see how far along the application is (if it is "beta" for example, it may still have bugs), and make sure it has files for your OS!

SITE: SourceForge
URL: http://sourceforge.net/
SECURE URL: https://sourceforge.net/

Again, sorry if this is already in the list.

btw: if you update the list on the first post, just put something like "Added XXX, YYY, ... to the list. See [link to first post here]." and it would be better

Well that's possible and not really hard to do, but I didn't add this functionality because it was supposed to be a user friendly program. An other aspect is about you usually don't use ordinals because a rebuild of a DLL can change the ordinals (or the function could be deleted). If you want me to make you an example how to find a function by ordinal... just ask and I'll make one when I've some spare time.

Well most libraries included with Blizzard Entertainment's games export functions by ordinal only (not possible to use a name reference).

Windirstat (Stands for Windows Directory Statistics) is an extremely simply program designed to organize all of your folders and sub-folders (and sub-sub-folders and sub-sub-sub-folders) on your entire computer based upon size. This can be extremely useful if you wanna free up room, though it is a tad bit time consuming to get the full use out of it. It's basically a Do-It-Yourself cleanup tool. It also draws a neat picture tree based upon filetypes and sizes. I've used it to clean up 10Gb+ on an old 60Gb computer. Really the program won't help new computers, but if you've had a computer for 1-2 years (or HEAVILY use your computer to put large games, large software, etc) you'll go looking through and be saying "OH! I completely forgot about that 5Gb program I haven't used in six months!"

We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch

It's a powerful macro generator with an easy syntax similar to common programming languages.
Its commands include (but are not limited to) outputting text, reading color of screen pixels, controlling mouse, reading and writing files, string handling, performing ftp/mail/irc commands, even modifying the registry.

Back* from the grave

http://camstudio.org/
Extremely minimalistic, yet customizable screen recording. Saves video and audio as .avi, completely free and no watermarks. However, some default features are annoying, for example you must enable minimize-on-record.

If you haven't already, and you want to record audio from your speakers, you may need to go to your speaker's hardware settings (control panel-->sound), tab to "playback" if it isn't already open, right click and click to show disabled devices. A "[something] digital output" will likely appear, enable it. Now go back to camstudio options --> audio options for speakers, and switch the soundcard device to what you just enabled. When you go to options --> record from speakers and enable it, you're ready to record audio straight from the card. If Waveoutget() or whatever appears, ignore it.

To strip music/flv from youtube, get music off myspace, soundcloud and other stuff. Best site I've seen for its purpose.

An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

I notice a lot of people complaining about writing a lengthy post only to have it get accidentally erased. If this sounds like you, get this form recovery plug-in right away:

Lazarus for Firefox
Lazarus for Chrome

It's more useful than you'd think.

Relatively ancient and inactive

Keytweak is an awesome program that allow you to remap keys. I used it to remap my right alt/context/ctrl keys that I never use to last song/playpause/nextsong on my laptop, for example.

The ultimate tool to get a computer back on it's feet after the operating system is installed. Try it out - it's great.

*as far as I know, it's Windows only. To everybody else - sorry!

Ubuntu and other linux distros have that functionality built in. Just open the Software Centre, choose the apps you want installed, and BAM they download and install automatically.

Red classic.

Mac OS X doesn't get anything like that until they roll out OS X 10.7 Lion, and the bulk of Linux distributions come with... package managers. Hardly the same (Although, I do have a profound love for pacman)
