You both fail is fucking hard. I have video download helper already, but I don't give a damn about kiddy shit like downloading youtube videos which any idiot can google. Youtube has the worst sound quality I've ever heard.
I'm talking about something that rips whatever sound is playing on my computer in the same quality that I hear it the first time. For god's sakes you could have even google audio stream recorder if you didn't know what it was before posting.

If you get the lesser known mp4 version (which you add &fmt=18 to the URL to access; no links exist to it for some reason) the audio quality is much improved. In that format it is something like 115 kbps stereo, compressed in AAC format instead of the usual mono 96 kbps or less mp3 for the other 2 non-HD formats. I assume the HD versions, when available, probably have the best audio on YouTube, but I haven't actually checked it to be sure. IIRC, those are &fmt=22 as far as the format selection via the URL.

Wavepad from NHC.com, in my opinion, is much better than winamp as a sound utility program.

I use it for almost anything that has to do with modifying wavs, but it supports basically all filetypes. It has some nice features for sound editing as well.

I'm sure you could torrent the program, it costs around 20$.

There is a free trial, and if you go over the trial you can just set your pc's clock back, open the program, then set the clock back to normal (as with most trial programs).

And for youtube downloading.. I use vixy.net.

Its for compatibility. Some sites stream with RealVideo.

I've never been to a site that HAD to use Realvideo.
