SEN is all abuzz with modding activity these days, so what better way to spend an evening than with the time-honored tradition of Mod Night?

That's right! Mod Night is back and better than ever as we dive into new mods that have been produced during the hiatus, as well as some old favorites.

How to join Mod Night:
1) Make sure that you have the iCCup gateway installed on your machine. Also note that in order to log in to iCCup's Battle.net server, you will need to create an account on the iCCup website first.
2) Check this thread to see what the mod selected for the week is. There will be a download link provided in the first post. Unless otherwise specified, all mods are using version 1.16.1.
3) Log on to the iCCup gateway at the scheduled time and then join channel "mod night".

You may also wish to join the Staredit Network Discord and join the channel #modnight. Participants are frequently on voice chat during Mod Night, come join us!

For this week, we chose to play

StarCraft: SoR, a very impressive TC by nasaman12.

Knowing very little about the mod, the three of us set off in an intrepid 3v3 struggle against the AI.

Things did not go as planned:

An early Zerg rush catches Pr0nogo by surprise. Corbo and I completely fail to leap to his defense.

This is where Corbo starts the drinking game of "drink every time Pr0nogo loses." Made more debilitating by the fact that we count dropping as a loss, and the mod is rather unstable.

We set out to try again, this time as Protoss:

The mod features some very... interesting... sounds for the Protoss buildings. Ear protection is advised.

I get all my units stuck while Corbo forgets to build an expansion. At least this time we fight off the initial rush...

Having survived the initial onslaught, we take the battle to the computers.

I am paying close attention to my econ.

We start trying out some of the Protoss hero units. Zeratul is... a bit melodramatic.

Not only can Zeratul basically solo an entire base, but he seems to resurrect after death... only to crash Pr0nogo immediately afterwards. Bottoms up!

Resazaj takes out the entire Zerg base by himself, but then Corbo decides to BS me with mass carriers.

We start a new game to check out the Zerg. My efforts to screw Corbo over by starting the game early are somewhat hampered by the fact that idle workers automatically begin mining.

Well, that was fast. Time to RM (and bottoms up).

Corbo gets rekt by an early Terran rush, then drops. Pr0nogo and I are able to clean up the AIs in short order though.

We decide for one final game as Terran. Corbo is attacked early on and I send all my units to defend him, only to get attacked by another AI while my base is empty.

Within short order, both Corbo and I are reduced to trying to float our CCs to Pr0nogo's base. The AI has other plans.

Despite the instability present, SOR is a great mod with a lot of custom graphics work, new plugin features and some great content. I'm really looking forward to a more stable release so we can give it another go.

We're currently working out the best schedule for regular Mod Nights. If there are specific days and times that work best for you, I encourage you to weigh in. We will try and find the time that works best for the majority of users, as well as a good frequency.

I tend to do things most Saturday evenings, so Fridays are probably better for me.

Fridays sound pretty good to me. Unless there are any objections, I'll start scheduling Mod Nights then.

I can stream with no repercussions, so we'll at least have vods of it. Maybe I'll make a highlight vid or something later on.

We've been talking about what mod to play next, right now the names in contention are the Zeji Total Conversion, Burning Ground, and Dawn of Change. If 1.15.2 works I think we can play Ad Astras and Armageddon Onslaught, but idk if iccup allows us to connect on an older version of starcraft. Any other ideas for mods we can play?

It looks like the long-awaited Dawn of Change 2.0 has been released today! In honor of that, I am going to declare it the mod for this week's Mod Night.

(I will be putting GAG Mania Draft in the list for future consideration though, KYSXD)

EDIT: Does anyone object to me moving the start time for Mod Night earlier? Previously we did it at 8 PST, but I figure if we move it a little earlier that might make it easier to join for people on the East Coast)

For thread readability it'd be great to hide the images in post #2 in a collapsable box.

If we start earlier on friday I can probably stay on longer, but I guess it depends on my sleep schedule. How does 5 PST sound for everyone?

FYI, if anyone downloaded the original release of DoC, make sure you re-download it as there has been a hotfix recently.

For this week, we decided to play Dawn of Change 2.0, a rather impressive TC by Black_Overseer that has extensive graphics conversion work, totally redesigned tech trees and plenty of new units.

KYSXD, Farty and I decided to play a warmup game while we waited for others to arrive.

It did not go well.

Following that disaster, we started a 7p FFA game:

After that game, we have a 4v4. Having only 7 players, one player will be an AI.

After Farty leaves, we decide to do a 3v3:

The final game of the night is a 6 player FFA.

DoC is a great mod, truly one of the best StarCraft projects around. I look forward to playing this again in the future. :)

Pr0nogo -- run that over your file and see how it matches up, normalize it to 90-99% afterwards and you're probably all set

Pr0nogo -- it raises the sound floor, which will have varying effects, e.g. if there's quiet background noise it will get amplified more than the louder samples of the waveform

Pr0nogo -- what you'll want to investigate is dynamics processing, or at the very least hard limiting

SiKiN -- Can't really go higher than 20db or is screws the voice up something shocking.

SiKiN -- I increased to 12db, did ok. Hydralisk attacks where still louder. So I changed to 20db and you can definitely hear it now but its still pretty quiet. Still though I can hear it. So done deal.
