Late in the day, you receive a call to meet with the captain.
"Welcome, me hearty!" the captain exclaims. This is the first time you've seen the captain up close. His face seems young for such an experienced seaman.
"Ye be strutting quite the reputation. I'm sure ye story be a bit embellished, but yer gold is real, so I suppose ye can't be fighting too badly. Anyway, I've seen ye in battle, and yer work on the
Trident. I'd like t' make ye a permanent officer--the official boatswain. Yer responsibilities will only increase a little, but yer pay will increase to a full two shares o' plunder."
You accept the captain's offer, and he details a few more duties before dismissing you.
"I expect great things from ye, Nicholas Red." The captain pats you on the back as you leave his cabin.
You begin to walk back to your bunk. While turning a dark corner, you notice d'Artagnan leaning against the wall.
"It's time I called in my favor," he says in his famous French accent. "Now that you have trained in the art of stealth, I need you to assassinate Peavey. Don't worry, that rapscallion is only getting what he deserves." d'Artagnan spits on the floor.
"It would be easy to kill him in his sleep. Or you could try poisoning him, though I don't think there's any poison on this ship. Or if you know another way, kill him like that."
Before you can respond, d'Artagnan cuts you off.
"I'll let you think about it for a week. If Peavey is still alive by then..." he cocks his head and walks away.
