If we're doing votes we really should set a cut off date/time, or else Ray can just wait until whichever way he wants to go is in the lead.

Read the OP, it's not a democracy. Charisma was chosen first, and the players who've actually been taking the RP seriously have all supported it.

Literally every beneficial thing that's happened so far has been due to Charisma, and not a single thing can be attributed to Strength. Strength is already high enough to allow us to be effective in combat.

Not to mention, Strength is a waste of a stat point, because it can just be trained in-game, unlike Charisma.

Anyways, it's pretty obvious who here actually cares about the outcome of this RP, and rayNimagi is probably going to take that into account.

Fine, it isn't a democracy, but I'd be hard pressed to believe he goes with the first action every time. :\

Trying to win over the host, to make your vote count more, huh?

Remember that failed knife-throw? Next time I wanna kill or at least seriously injure someone I attack. Thanks.

We don't know how to train charisma.

Also, not sure increasing strength will make our knife throwing more accurate, just that we could throw it harder.

None.

I still say that if we buff up as we gain charisma we'll get a double wammy intimidation effect - but still. No one fucks with the brute brooding in the corner of a dingy pub.

No, I'm not.

You're obviously trying to manipulate the host though, by making my valid points seem somehow less so by saying they are just for his benefit.

I'm sure he'll understand that's your intention though, since you didn't try very hard to hide your obnoxious tone.

Whether or not a knife hits someone sharp-side-first has nothing to do with strength. Thanks.

And it wasn't failed, because it did save William's life, after we used our charisma to effectively taunt the attacker. Imagine that.

Who says we can train Charisma? What reason is there to think it's possible? We've tried multiple different ways, and it didn't work. As far as we know, it's impossible, and there's no reason to assume otherwise.

On the other hand, we do know that strength can be trained, because we actually did it already. Spending points on it is wasteful when we can learn it for free.

At this point you're just making things up by making it sound like it's possible to train charisma, which is what we call "lying", or at least being disingenuous. Stop talking out of your ass with this nonsense just for the sake of acting petty and immature.

You've tried and failed, alright. Since ray can do whatever he wants it's just as plausible we just haven't found out how to train it properly.

I can only make up things when I state something. At this point all I've said is that we don't know for sure.

Not knowing how to do it and not being able to do it are equivalent statements with the same result.

If we can't figure out how to do it, then for all intents and purposes, it cannot be done. It can't be assumed otherwise.

Right, which is disingenuous, because we have no reason to think that's true.

My statement was based on the information we have from the actual game. To say it should be overlooked because of some possible hypothetical future scenario that's not based in any evidence or facts is pretty much the definition of disingenuous.

Late in the day, you receive a call to meet with the captain.

"Welcome, me hearty!" the captain exclaims. This is the first time you've seen the captain up close. His face seems young for such an experienced seaman.

"Ye be strutting quite the reputation. I'm sure ye story be a bit embellished, but yer gold is real, so I suppose ye can't be fighting too badly. Anyway, I've seen ye in battle, and yer work on the Trident. I'd like t' make ye a permanent officer--the official boatswain. Yer responsibilities will only increase a little, but yer pay will increase to a full two shares o' plunder."

You accept the captain's offer, and he details a few more duties before dismissing you.

"I expect great things from ye, Nicholas Red." The captain pats you on the back as you leave his cabin.

You begin to walk back to your bunk. While turning a dark corner, you notice d'Artagnan leaning against the wall.

"It's time I called in my favor," he says in his famous French accent. "Now that you have trained in the art of stealth, I need you to assassinate Peavey. Don't worry, that rapscallion is only getting what he deserves." d'Artagnan spits on the floor.

"It would be easy to kill him in his sleep. Or you could try poisoning him, though I don't think there's any poison on this ship. Or if you know another way, kill him like that."

Before you can respond, d'Artagnan cuts you off.

"I'll let you think about it for a week. If Peavey is still alive by then..." he cocks his head and walks away.

Invite Peavey out for drinks, your treat, get him drunk and make sure he accidentally slips off the dock/ship/wherever.

Mar 4 2013, 9:06 pm Azrael Post #179

Woah, woah. We have a whole week, no need to jump the gun.

I'd suggest first collecting information to find out why he wants Peavey dead. Try speaking to him, then Peavey, then to whoever else might know the circumstances, until you get a handle on what's going on. If none of the above works, go find Ron and see if he's heard anything. Luckily we are pretty charismatic, so if anyone knows about the situation, it should be possible for us to find out subtly enough to not give anything away.

Each time you fail to get information from someone, before moving on to the next person, wait around and use your stealth to eavesdrop on them, in case they say something aloud after you've left.

I would advise against that. We owe D'artignan a favor and what ever peavy did is past now. I'd rather get the favor over with and not get attatched to Peavy since hes gotta die anyway.
