Hydro, I'd say getting in that many fights is not at all normal, although TBH, it depends where you live. If you live in the "ghetto" you might get in more fights, if you live in suburbia, probably less, unless you live in a suburbia that's filled with people from the city like me :D.

From the looks of things, people so far seem to think eccentric means you have to have some personality disorder, which is not true.
BTW, definition of eccentric:
Quote
deviating from an established or usual pattern or style <eccentric products>
b : deviating from conventional or accepted usage or conduct especially in odd or whimsical ways
From the looks of it, none of the examples so far seem like eccentricity.

Being a bit eccentric is normal, more so when you are eccentric around friends or people you know. The scale of normality/different (or other traits i.e. eccentric, OCD) are usually adjusted to fit the person evaluating themself. For example, a kid that doesn't watch television may say that he is not normal since almost all children watch TV- however, he may play sports all the time which is completely normal.

You've been diagnosed bipolar? You don't take medication? You must have the mildest case of bipolar disorder ever, my brother needs medication or he can't function.

You have a skewed idea of what bipolar disorder is. Your brother probably has severe bipolar, but mine is moderate. There's a lot of people who do perfectly well untreated, unless something triggers their disorer in their life. Those are the mild cases. For me, I just kind of get by with the disorder at my side. It's like how the schizo guy in a beautiful mind just had to ignore his hallucinations, I just keep doing normal shit regardless of where my mood is at, or at least I try to. There's also some lifestyle decisions that I'm not very good at keeping to that can make my condition worse.

I'm only used to my brothers case so i probably do have a skewed idea. I'm not sure what to say on the subject of eccentric though.

I voted eccentric
I like this sentence from wikipedia
"In this vein, the eccentric's habits are incomprehensible not because they are illogical or the result of madness, but because they stem from a mind so original that it cannot be conformed to societal norms."
SO ORIGINAL!

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO

How do I report a topic??????

Somebody, please, just report me with a :hurr: or something to call a mod's attention.

This topic is pretty pointless, it's about Nerdy trying to call out some attention by gaining the status of "special" by auto-considering himself...a lot of things including eccentric. This is just an average topic that TZ would make and everybody would try to prove him otherwise and him defending his assumed psycological condition. I see nothing different happening here and I'm pretty sure TZ's topics never got away from 2 pages long.

TL;DR: This topic is so eccentric :hurr:

fuck you all

Everyone is 'eccentric.' Only egotistical bastards label themselves as such. I'm popular, nerdy, athletic (in the football lineman sense :P ), suffer from seasonal affective disorder (humorously called S.A.D.), extremely intelligent, logical, and creative and guess what? Everyone's a freak and everyone has problems. So please stop thinking you're special.
BLASPHEMY.

I have (had) longer hair than most females. That's gotta count for something, right? D:

I'm inclined to call myself abnormal, but I've also learned not to trust anyone else's self-descriptions; if I didn't apply that to myself also, I'd just be a hypocrite. So... yeah.

Of course, it comes largely down to how one defines "eccentric". Either you draw the line between eccentricity and normality somewhere, or we've got a useless word on our hands.

👻 👾 👽 💪

Collapsable Box

Most of these seem to be only assessable by a different person (or party, for more accurate results) ... One can't accurately judge themselves since they'll tend to skew what they see in favor of what they either do believe about themselves or what they want to believe about themselves.
People often tell me how I'm not normal, but I don't know how to define any sort of normal behavior ... Partly because during school I tended to hang out with the 'outcast' crowd (what I describe as the extras ... The people who weren't a part of any particular groups, so they just instead clumped together.) I never considered myself to be an outcast, though... Especially since I never put any effort into actually making friends with anybody (in fact, my first friend was only my friend because he persistently tried talked to me, despite me constantly telling him to go away.)

EDIT:
... I'm tired, I should probably go to bed. :P I like to ramble about anything when I'm in this state ... You could ask me about rocks and I'll start talking about rocks and my experience with rocks, and how my friend fell off of a rock ...
If I don't stop now, I'll just keep adding more (like I am currently doing!)

* Nonconforming attitude - Is it really possible to be non conforming with so many 'nonconforming' people in existence. kinda kills the point.
* Creative (people tell me I am anyway) - Doubt it
* Intense curiosity - nosey
* Idealistic - PSSSHAW
* Happy obsession with a hobby or hobbies (hmm.. what's the name of that 12 year old game I play?) - Pokemons for gays
* Known very early in his or her childhood they were different from others - Typical
* Highly intelligent (ur mom thinks so, HURR) - Egotistical
* Opinionated and outspoken - attention troll
* Unusual living or eating habits (Dad thinks I'm anorexic ;o) - (Daddy doesn't pay enough attention to me ;o)
* Not interested in the opinions or company of others (On this one, I'm a bit split. 50% of time I just want to be alone, other 50% I want some form of companion, female) - My post is invalid now
* Mischievous sense of humor - I'm okay with this
* Single - derp
* Usually the eldest or an only child (this one is iffy, I'm an only child with my father, but with my mother I have half-siblings who definitely played an important role in my life, but I have lived as an only child in many ways) - But... your a pedo D:

I keep my mask of normality in public places but am quite eccentric with close friends/girlfriends. Everyone has some quirks they don't show to the public.

I always sort of used my oddities as a shield from the general public, actually.

wth is starcraft

I think I agree with what mostly everyone else is saying...a lot of this topic is self serving. Its cool to call yourself different, but I look at the eccentric characteristics and a lot apply to me, and I have trouble calling me eccentric. Not to mention, a lot of people like to think they're super intelligent (well I know I'm not, but...), creative? I think I'm highly creative. Opinionated? Oh yes, my parents tell me all the time I'm opinionated. I've lost many friends to it, too. Happy obsession with hobbies? I'd say so. Mischievous sense of humor? The more creative you are, the more mischievous you ten to be. Single? QQ moar Known to be different? We're all taught we're different and special. Mostly, everyone is different. Intense Curiosity? I'm with madzombie...nosy.

I do know however that I have an anxiety disorder, I'm highly sensitive, and easily suffer from sensory overload. I'm lucky I've learned to deal with these problems...usually through the support of my boyfriend <3 but anyways, because of this, I don't necessarily like being in large groups, and I can't stand classroom lectures where I can see other people's movements, like pencil tapping, popping gum, shaking their leg. I can't eat around people who slurp or do that obnoxious thing where they try to suck food out from between their teeth. So I just don't bother with it. A combination of these three things make me very hard to be around and deal with, so I could appear eccentric in all the rude ways of the term.

Oh here's something interesting from ye god source, wikipedia:
Quote
If an HSP student is not contributing much to a discussion, it does not necessarily mean they do not understand or are too shy. HSPs often process things better in their heads, or they may be over-aroused. This can be the reason for their not contributing. HSPs are usually very conscientious but underperform when being watched. This also applies to work situations; HSPs can be great employees—good with details, thoughtful and loyal, but they do tend to work best when conditions are quiet and calm.

I can't say for sure that any of these things apply, but this is how I feel on a regular basis. I'm sure its due to some sort of nutrient deficiency.

Speaking of hyper sensitivity...Whoever has that god damn yahoo player...fuck you. I'm tired of that shit auto playing. You're being obnoxious.
