An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death
Dash 8 Download LinkConcept:Horizontal screen scroller. You control a zergling and have to stay on the screen. In your way are archons and zealots (and various other units); if you touch a unit owned by player 7 (white), your zergling will die. If you fail to stay on the screen, your zergling will die. If you or a teammate survive a row, everyone will revive at the beginning of the next row.
Of course, you can download this Dash and some of my other maps through the direct links in my signature. I've made almost 40 maps now, but half of them are bounds and everyone here seems to think that bounds don't count as maps...
Screenshots: Walkthrough (for those that are bad at trial-and-error)
Row 1.1
Very simple. Avoid the archons.
Row 1.2
Same thing, except there are zealots. Try not to go straight up and down at the first part, but rise and fall slowly. This will make your zergling less likely to have a mind of its own and run into a unit that you didn't even click on.
Row 1.3
Don't step on the crags (the darker terrain). There are three pods of scourges, and if you step on a crag tile, they will be released and fly everywhere. Simply stay on the red dirt and they will stay in their caucuses.
Row 2.1
Welcome to row 2. You may notice instantly that your path is blocked by hundreds, maybe even thousands of crystals... Well, actually, there's about 250 of them. Simply run near them and they explode. Avoid the units that lie between the crystals. Your zergling may want to stray near the archons and zealots if you don't carefully order them forward.
Row 2.2
Ah, you've seen this part on the minimap, no doubt. The wavy part. Well, it isn't going to deceive you. The screen rises and falls, making it difficult to accurately order your zergling. Do your best to avoid touching an archon or zealot.
Row 3.1
Well done; row 3 awaits. This row is quite intimidating. You'll see hallucinated deaths appearing, and then dark archon explosions. The dark archon explosions will kill you. The hallucinated archons simply warn you where the explosions will be. Now, if you look closely, you'll notice that only one explosion appears per column. Simply stay near the edge of one row and move straight forward. If a hallucinated explosion appears on your row, move down to the other row. Repeat this process until you reach the end. Try to stay near the front half of the screen, because the next part messes with the screen, and if you're far behind, you may get swallowed up by it.
Row 3.2
Welcome to the hardest part of the map. Ahead of you is a very, very easy maze of archons and zealots. The catch? The screen violently jumps forward and backwards, making it very hard to accurately click anywhere. Take a deep breath and take your time clicking. This part may seem very intense, but in reality, the screen is moving quite slowly forward. Try to stay in the middle of the screen and hold your mouse in place a length before where you want to go. When the screen shakes into position, your mouse will be moved into the spot you desire; all you have to do is time your clicks to the screen (quite opposite of a bound, where you have to time the clicks before you want to go there). Do not click rapidly, as this will cause you to go back and forth and ultimately make you run into an archon or zealot.
Row 4.1
The final row. This must be very hard, right? Well, if you're the only player, it will be. If you have a good teammate, not so much. It's simply a long maze of archons. Go forward and you'll find a wall of archons and patches of dark dirt. This dirt actually serves as a teleportation pad. You'll have to move fast to get to the first one, though, because it required backtracking, a hard feat in a screen-scrolling game. The next teleport seems simple. However, the top patch warps you to the bottom, and vice-versa; be careful where you click after warping. After the third warp there will be uraj crystals sitting on creep terrain. Step on this creep terrain! It is required to destroy the wall at the end. You'll find another creep-uraj location further up ahead. After you get that, move as quickly as you can to one of the warps at the very end. This will warp you backwards and center, allowing you to go to the end of the row. Timing is critical for this; it's a lot easier if you have a friend grab one crystal wall and you grab the other (or have one of you sacrifice). When you reach the end, you win! You will see a demo of how to activate WTF mode, which adds a hilarious twist to the map.
