One of my sister's boyfriends lent me his copy of StarCraft, it was the first game I ever played and I thought it was great creating an entire army!!! :D

I have also been playing it since 1998 (although there must have been at least a 3 year period when I didn't play because I got bored of it, but still playing ^^ )

I was playing other RTS games like Dune 2000 and I saw Starcraft and thought I should give it a try
Dune 2000 was pretty good but it didn't really have the multi player so I stuck with starcraft.

I played a noob UMS map and my friends house. It was just empty badlands and your characer, "Santa", Has to defend (they never say. I assume himself?) again everything that came at him. At that point i thought "WHOEVER MADE THIS IS A FUCKING PRO".

Nuff said.

Coming from an azn family, I was deprived of games when my parents realized that they were taking too much of my time. (Till now, I only have a PS1). Fortunately, my parents was renting out the basement to a REALLY nice girl... we knew each other well and she gave me the SC Battlechest for Christmas! ! ! ! !

It was fantastic, I remember the first time playing the campaign, I was so hyped about the options that you can do (namely, build these buildings almost anywhere u want!!) I remember I nearly died on the third terran mission, the one where you have to survive for 30 minutes. (I had a burning CC running away lol)...

My friend brought me to B.net, and owned me with carriers on the first match...
I then stumbled upon UMS maps, and never meleed again.

I think the first map(s) i played were Cat n Mouse and some type of defense....
Then my creativity genes caught on to me, and discovered Staredit, and started looking into map making.
The first map i made was Reaver Defense, with 6 heroes to buy, and I used carefully placed civilians to stop reavers from walling (LMAO)
It was going downhill but then, I took Pylon Defense, and made it Pylon D Alpha Land, and EVERYONE PLAYED IT!! I was (a bit) famous, and ppl'd say "HEY! It's YOU! U made Pylon D!" .. (i took full credit only because the first ver of pylon d didn't even have winning triggers ... lol)
After that I was hooked....

Stumbled upon O)farty and O)matt AT THE SAME GAME, where farty hacked and was the computer for AI lurker Defense... he stopped all the enemies so we could win, but killed matt in the end.. :P we joined his clan, and yes... it was cool...

Clan O was very well populated at times, but very deserted at other times, but the thing that kept me hooked till now is that New maps continually comes out and impresses me.
yay for long post.

Quote from name:
The long awaited story of how dm came to StarCraft and saw the light *Cue music* [/andendoverlydramatisedbeginning]

SC was advertising their console version, I bought it knowing I was good at C&C2 and said what the hell why not (Actually I was 10 and afraid of cursing at the time so I probably said please mommy please buy this for me), Played my first 1v1 vs my bro with my N64, on a really confusing map, but got through the tech tree and finnaly we ran out of minerals trying to kill each other (How often does THAT happen?). After that and a couple campaigns later, I played Pro bowl and was instantly hooked on UMS. About 3 years later I find the SC battle chest being sold in Wal Mart (And mistakining it for more missions and added story) I wanted it. After playing 2 missions in I relised the only thing different was the tutorial mission and I had just bought the same game again. Then I saw this button called Battle.net. I could remember waiting for the 1.10 patch to download over dial up, and when it did, I was astonished. I came to the realm of bnet as Dark_Ghost_123 origionally (My brother darkling actully was Dark_Marine_114 (Mindfuck)) And probably a couple years later I played The Haunted BC, and was amased of the mapper (Yoshi obvously) and decided to check out the site which was advertised.

And I mention this all because I figure all of us here had to get hooked to UMS to even stay attached to SC, not just the melee.
first time playing sc was on n64 Nice(I still remember where to find all the cheats XD)

anyways I first heard of starcraft when my mother was renting video games for me since I was sick from block buster. I played it and thought how awesome it was since it was much more fun than c&c n64. I then for my birthday my anut bought it for me and I started playing it for a 1.5 years playing against bots. Then one day I met a kid(dont remember how) but he heard of starcraft and showed me many things about starcraft on computer which was a way better verison. One late night after seeing who could beat the game the fastest on the lvl chain the beast campagin we looked at battle.net thinking it cost money. but then the next day I ask my parents for help and they made my account with my real name and my very old password 007 (old I got a new more complex one XD). This was my first time ever playing against people online so it was a big thing for me. I wanted to be the best Non fastest melee player and joined a group called dok(not a clan) these kids would meet up in channel dok and battle. I learned most of my skills from a formal allie/back stabber XslayerX. After they casted me out since I was such a nerd then. I joined 3 different clans two ranked general and one reaching sarge. After being betrayed because of kids control of ban. I decided to be rid of clans and never change names. I crusaded with friends and made a kind of group were we would meet up in channel Dalton and play melee and ums and did so for a couple of years. Then when I was looking for maps one day I found staredit(before it when down) and hanged here :). It when down and just played melee and ums then again it appears and thats how I am here today. :)

My cousin was playing it, and It looked amazing, just one of the first video games I ever saw. Then, I actually played SC64, and I was amazed. I eventually got a future shop gift card, and bought it. (I got SC64 too, now a rare collectible!)

After downloading Sexy Maps #1 I was hooked! >.> <.<

Actually... the game itself. I like melee, even though when I first started out I was a noob. Let's hold out and carrier rush! Zomg 111 !!! I WIN!. -.- lol. For the first year I didn't know about Use Map Settings. Eventually I found out about UMS, and found a DND map. That had me hooked for a long time. Then the first Open RPG, and was hooked on that. Then the RP maps... though for Roleplaying stuff I can't handle the "Naruto Kiddies" age group. They annoy me in games like Left 4 Dead and Halo as well... :-(. I hope I wasn't like that.

My brother was obsessing over it so we got it, and the map editor was like sex for me.

Starcraft is basically a heroin.

Anyways, I watched someone else play it in the late 90's at a family friend's house, and remember the awesomeness of the teal minerals and boy, did I love the terran advisor. I basically thought it was super mystical and awesome.

Fast foward about 3 years, when I moved to Wisconsin, I got it. (Forgot how) and played it. <3

I played Star Trek: Armada, and I thought it was the coolest game ever. I even found out how to make maps, shortly after coming to TX and was still in high school, a friend of mine offered me to play a copy of his starcraft, but it didn't work cause he forget the CD key, so he gave me the Starcraft Shareware, after that I bought the battlechest set, played around with the map editor, adding all the coll hero units, and playing ever since.

PS - Hi I am new here (Post #1), I also post at Blizzforums, and Warboards. Nice to meet you all, I see I know a few of you.
