I've unticked the 'randomise start location' option in Forces (screenshot 1), and I'm still finding the colours randomised (screenshot 2 - Red Protoss should be Yellow Protoss, Brown Protoss should be Teal Protoss, and Yellow Zerg should be Red Zerg). These colours are
always the same, as if I'd opened the map in StarEdit and saved it, causing the colours to revert to their natural correspondence (the Red Protoss player is actually player 1, the Yellow Zerg player is actually player 8, etc. etc.).
I've encountered this problem a few times before, and I never knowingly fixed the issue - the solution was more of a deus ex machina kind of thing, where I unintentionally resolved the quagmire. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Uh have you got all Start Locations placed?
Yep. Otherwise, the units wouldn't be appearing on the map.
/e I have a theory that I'll test when I wake up in the morning. I hypothesise that opening and saving it using StarEdit and re-editing the colours in SCMDraft will fix the problem. I guess we'll find out.

The problem has been resolved. My theory was correct.
You may close the thread.

You are correct here. However, the colors here were not randomized, they were reset to defaults. StarEdit.exe and any derivative editors of it (Emerald StarEdit (my age is showing with that one), SCXE, etc.) do not support player color changes and will default the player colors to their original values. (P1 red, P2 blue, P3 teal, ..., P8 yellow)

Also, .scm maps do not support changing colors off of the defaults at all. The map must be an expansion (.scx) map to play with colors. I theorize this feature came to be because the white player is actually green by default on the ice and desert tilesets (presumably because it was too difficult to see white on the minimap for those tilesets).
I was using .scx, not scm, and I never used any programme other than SCMDraft 2.0. The term "randomising" was a bit ambiguous, I agree.

If you can post or PM the map in question, I'd be interested in examining it. (Assuming you haven't fixed it already.)
