It should be noted that the original bicycling goal was completely legitimate. It's a very reasonable goal to try to work toward. When it finally gets warm enough in the spring, it's what I generally do to get ready for the summer. For someone who hasn't done similar training before, it'd be something you would need to work toward gradually. It would certainly improve your athleticism though, and tone you in the process since it's also really efficient cardio.
The arm wrestling thing is just something you can measure your success with.
Better learn how to arm wrestle as well, since it's largely about technique. A lot of people direct their force in the wrong direction, which results in them not using the right set of muscles to maximize their ability to resist the opponent's force.
Not to mention, two fairly strong people arm wrestling can be pretty dangerous. There's basically nothing else which applies a similar amount of torque to the bone in your upper arm, which is why people end up completely shattering that bone while arm wrestling. Being stronger actually increases the chances of this happening, rather than decreasing (since your arm would have been moved by the opponent, causing you to lose instead).
People who arm wrestle professionally center their entire diet around strengthening their bones, along with appropriate vitamin supplements and a rigorous training schedule which are designed to maximize their bone density. Still, even these people sometimes have their bones shattered from an arm wrestling match.
At any rate, I wouldn't personally recommend this, as it isn't really safe or a particularly good indicator of physical strength.
Go into a chess club and beat at least half of the members there.
This is definitely a game that improves with practice, not simply intelligence as many people have been led to believe. I think I can safely assert that I wouldn't be able to go into a chess club and beat half the members there, as they're playing more games every day than I play in a year, and they're doing it with even more experienced players who are willing to give them pointers.
