I just noticed - the shoutbox displays your 'local' time. There should really be a SEN time (probably most common timezone for users, or an average) that is universal.
This seems like a bad idea, unless SEN time ends up being EST, in which case I'm okay with it.
We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch
Would it help matters at all if Null posts were omitted from the 'most recent posts', and forum users were then allowed to browse Null manually at their own discretion without it literally 'becoming SEN'.
Even though I don't use the front page I think that's a good idea. But I'm not sure if I'd be ready to loosen the rules for Null because of that.
Actually I wouldn't include you with the "kids". That was addressing whoever is amused by all this childish fun that is floating around.
I will say that I was slightly offended, as well, about the "kid" remark considering I love to make dumb jokes and troll occasionally like the rest of 'em. I am just as easily amused by all the "childish fun" but I also do my job and moderate it when need be. I don't think it has anything to do with age or maturity, it's just clearly a different style of humor.
Well, my apologies to anyone who felt offended by it. I guess I went a bit too far with that wording when I was ranting.
Still, as much as I understand your desire to see any point of view I have a hard time believing you're amused by topics like "x day's to Kame birthday" (in 3 versions!) or posts suggesting "strip naked in front of your mother" in an RPG.
Personally, I am glad this is happening.
More and more, I find myself posting random garbage because that is how things have been like around here.
I really need to knock it off.

I was trying hard to get the main character in Kame's first RPG to have a lesbian love affair, so I'd say that is at least similar to the "strip naked in front of your mother" concept.
I did it because it was Kame, though, and assumed she would think that the derailing would be funny or annoying enough to be amusing at least.

And then only a handful of people would have access to it.

Do mods count?
Devlin is right, of course. You can't force people to do work.
Either we'll get a bunch of really shitty stuff, or nothing at all. How many of you did your homework in high school? At that point, SEN is no longer as enjoyable. Only people that want to submit stuff should submit stuff.

To help fight the stupidity of Null, we should have Null as an unlockable feature. After x quality posts in SC sections, y quality maps, z quality wiki creations/tutorials, or admin approval, the ability to post in Null becomes available. Think about it: it forces people to make content or actively help the community rather than simply make an account to post in Null. It's a win-win.
Say goodbye to 90% of SEN then, including yourself.
I came to SEN for mapping. I stayed for Null.

It has been the same for me.
When I first came to SEN in 2005, all I would do was posted my maps. I never even bother with the forums. After SEN came back from its hiatus in 2007, the DLDB was down for a month. In that time, I slowly started to post around, and it was easiest to post in the Other Forums.
Now I am mostly here for the Other Forums, but that is not to say I will not post another map in the future.
I just wait for something good to come to me. SEN's Null is just a distraction.

I'm grandfathered in though, right?

Altered to reflect my personal sentiments.
Show them your butt, and when you do, slap it so it creates a sound akin to a chorus of screaming spider monkeys flogging a chime with cacti. Only then can you find your destiny at the tip of the shaft.

No, not unless a staffer actually wants you in Null.[/color]
Too bad your argument is still built on bs, because
I have contributed. So regardless, I think that if that was the rule, I'd still be here.

QFT. If I had the patience to try to live up to quality standards while living out my life, I would. Unfortunely, I'm not being paid to map, so I can't say I have the drive to.
If null wasn't on SEN, I would have probably left a long time ago, seeing as how I can't do a thing for the community. I knew, and still know SC1 mapping in great detail, and could make something worth it, but it wouldn't be worth it today. Sadly.

Exactly.I'm confused. I make the "only a handful of people can access it" comment (which is essentially the same as Dem0n's comment), but when I say it you think I'm arguing?

I'm not sure if this is a massive joke or if you just need to go outside.
My initial reaction
Then other guys jump in to talk about this and I'm like...
lols really?

Pretty much sums up the whole thing.
I doubt quality control's gonna change anything.. just like that Judge Rampage thingymagic... where Judges have more responsibilities and are accountable or something...
EDIT:
Wait!
Soo... what's the Light Discussion for then?
I thought that's the reason for it? To diverge Null a bit?
EDIT EDIT:
Eh.. it's actually not that bad.. there aren't a lot of closed/"inappropriate" topics in the Null
sooo I don't know what the fuss is all about, sexcalibear
