Here is an other one (not really
)
Choose any number you like.
Multiply it by 3.
Square it. (X * X)
Cross out one of the digits and tell me your result. (You can randomize it just like before.)
I bet there's an infinite amount of numbers you'll never guess. Negatives.
But lets give you an easy one:
44

But lets give you an easy one: 44
1
I order you to forgive yourself!
It would be:
X = 4
4 * 3 = 12
12 * 12 = 144
144 = 44
You didn't say you would be telling us the number you removed.
I'm assuming that he was confused as he was expecting the original number.

Whoops... I sort of build that one from the last one. I should have explained it better.

Finding the original number would've been more impressive, but okay, you got that right.

I'm currently developing a way to be able to find the original number. When I'm done, I'll see if it really works.

New way: It seems to work all the time! (I'm not sure it it's too much now.)
Choose a number. (X)
Multiply it by 1011.
Multiple the result by itself.
You can cross out one digit (Except for 0s) from the result (Note if you have a scientific number, just leave it as is or you can convert it too.)
Randomize the digits if you want. (Make sure to keep the 0s.)
I'll be able to tell you your X.
Example
X = 5
5 * 1011 = 5055
5055 * 5055 = 25553025
25553025
You tell me 2555025 (Or randomize the digits if you want.)
I'll tell you 5.

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.
