An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

That sounds like an error with your strings. You could use an unprotector or other program of your choice to rename the location strings, but you'll have to manually name them again. You could also remove the sound files, rename the locations, and open the String Editor (Assuming SCMD2) and making sure there are no strings pertaining to your wav files, and then reload the sounds into your map.

Problems with strings are likely caused by switching between SCMD2, which uses string recycling (which is actually very, very nice), and another editor that doesn't support such a luxury. The references can become ambiguous at that point, in which point glitches and errors may arise. It's good practice to stick to one editor, anyway, and since SCMD2 has pretty much everything you need, that's the one I recommend.

If this didn't help your situation, you should post more details. Corruption can mean a variety of things.

I recently had a map become corrupted as well, was a pretty horrendous experience. The way I fixed it was going into SCM Draft 2 and making a new map with the same dimensions. Then I

1) copy/pasted the entire terrain layer

2) copy/pasted the entire unit layer

3) made new locations in all the same places with all the same names

4) re-added all the wav files

5) copy/pasted the text version of the triggers

6) copy/pasted the text version of the mission briefing

7) renamed and changed all the units and ability stats to what they needed to be

I think that was about it. Worked pretty well.

We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch

There's a program (I think Uber@tion 2 or StarCraft Map Importer/Exporter (SCIE) ) that lets you copy a map section by section into a new one.
Preserves ISOM data and is overall faster. Can also transfer fog of war afaik.

There's also some form of map rebuilder, which works as an unprotector (so I can't link it here), but I don't remember what it's called. Check the tinymap2 thread.

Steps 1) and 2) can be simplified into using the 'Copy/Cut/Paste/Brush' tool, which can select units and terrain at the same time. Just an FYI.

I'd already tried that, wouldn't work while the map was corrupt for some reason. I had to do every layer individually.

I think it's easier to use SCM Toolkit to split the map, then rebuild it.
