:payne:

Well, some weeks ago, when WoodenFire restarted to play a bit on Starcraft, I've heard him talking to someone about a "The Puzzling 2"...
Anyone know anything about this? :O
The Puzzling 1 was pretty damn interesting!!

None.

We live in a society.

I have The Puzzling 1. I have not heard of such a sequel.

An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

I've known of a few people trying to make The Puzzling 2. Everyone I've known stopped after the first puzzle or two and gave up, though. There was a map similar to The Puzzling (the name currently eludes me) but that isn't as popular now because one of the puzzles halfway through isn't possible (something to do with Blizzard's patch on stacking zerg units in-game).

Anyhow, shouldn't this topic be closed, or at least moved? :P

I'd be interested in a new puzzle map under a few conditions:
1. More focus on thought, less on precise motion. The first Puzzling was far too much about getting everyone on your team to move their stuff at the right time rather than figuring out what the right time was.
2. Lots of randomization, so that it's about figuring out how to solve the puzzles rather than simply memorizing the solution. Puzzles would still work in rule-driven ways, but what those rules would be for a given puzzle, and what spaces on the board are related to what actions, would both be randomized.
3. Limited tries per puzzle. This would only work in combination with point #1; it'd have to be fairly straightforward to implement a solution once one is discovered, or else people will use up their lives despite knowing what to do. The idea behind this point is to prevent the way I see many puzzles in the first Puzzling getting solved: trial and error.

I donno about this one, it's SC, it takes about 10 seconds to RM, so having limited tries is just more annoyance.

Yeah, but it would re-randomize them when you RM'd, so you'd be back to square one with regards to figuring out the puzzle.

Yeah, but it would re-randomize them when you RM'd, so you'd be back to square one with regards to figuring out the puzzle.

If it worked based on the same mechanics then you could still get a general idea of how to beat it.

Ultraviolet -- Yeah, I suppose there's something to that

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless
[2024-5-06. : 5:02 am]
Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value
[2024-5-06. : 5:01 am]
Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Ultraviolet -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort
[2024-5-06. : 12:51 am]
Oh_Man -- definitely EUD

Vrael -- damn is that all EUD effects?
