I'm trying to learn how to do burrow detection. The link in the FAQ is broken. Can someone link me to the article or tell me how to do it

None.

An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

Yeah, the old wiki is in a state of chaos right now. Here's the link you would want: http://www.staredit.net/?p=oldwiki&s=38

Burrow triggers (by creating a unit)

Burrow_Test should be a tiny location (1x1 pixels or an inverted location). You can use any ground unit (I chose a Terran Marine for the example) with a few exceptions (buildings, power-ups, etc.). Instead of creating a unit each time, you can also preplace a unit in the corner of the map (or some isolated area), move it to the location and then move it back to the corner. This will prevent placement errors if the burrowable unit is against the edge of terrain. The link I provided at the top of this post gives this example.

The way this works, in case you're curious, is that when it creates the unit, if another unit is blocking the exact spawn point, the unit will just spawn nearby. If a unit is burrowed, however, it won't block the spawn point, so the unit (marine in the example above) will be in the location.
