I'm currently trying to make a new map and I decided to upgrade to SCMdraft 2, and for some reason units wont place on the map, am I not doing something right or is there something wrong with SCMdraft 2??
None.
Try a give us more information on the problem. Nobody can know if you're not doing something right if they don't know what you're doing.

I don't know what more info I can give, I click on player one scroll through the units, try to place a unit on the map, it makes the sound of the unit as I place it but its not visually there, and I tried to highlight it, thinking maybe my comp was retarded and couldnt show the units but no dice... and I do have the most recent one I think ( Scmdraft 2.0 (beta 0.6.0) public prerelease #2) if that isnt the right one show me where to get a good one >.<

The latest is beta 0.8.0
There should be an auto-update under "Advanced > Check For Updates"
If you can't get it updated, go to the official site of SCMD2 and download version 0.8.0:
http://www.stormcoast-fortress.net/downloads/scmdraft2ZIP/Reply back if this did not help or if something changed but there is still a placement problem. Or reply back if everything is fixed and you want to thank us for our help
Or I guess you can always never reply back and leave us wondering "Wtf, did we solve the problem? Should we add more suggestions to this thread? How annoying..."

I guess a lot of people are rude eh
Anyways, I updated to the 0.8.0 and I still have the same problem, and like I said before it make the noise of the unit (Ex: Marine says you want a piece of me boy) but it wont place the unit, as I have tried to highlight and delete, or just see if it would highlight units and it doesn't show squat. Thanks for your help so far,
Also I did try reinstalling SCMdraft 2 and that didnt help either.
Ok, I just tried to open other maps in Scm and it removes ALL units so I just have a map with Everything BUT units...god all I want to do is make my map T.T

Hmm... It's a mystery
SCMDraft draws some data from your StarCraft directory folder (Unit sounds, etc.)
Is StarCraft located in its default directory? (C:\Program Files\StarCraft)
Hmm... You tried downloading it from stormcoast fortress... so... AH! How about some basic computer details? Operating system? (As you can see I'm running out of ideas
)
O.o when you place a marine, he's supposed to say "commander"
One more "attempt" at this. Try placing a unit like a marine, then press ctrl+z to see if you can hear him die.

ScmD2 shows a splash screen when its starting up where you are supposed to choose (or edit) a profile.
Did you configure the default profile?
Here's a topic on how to set it up correctly:
Scmdraft 2 help?
If the problem still persists:
Reinstall Starcraft
Reinstall SCMDraft2 v.8 (just get the new one, dont update)
ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE CHOSEN THE CORRECT DIRECTORY
After that, you may want to contact Stormcoast

oops mistake posted twice >.<

-Sigh- I figured it out after reading NudeRaiders post, I realized that my profile was from SCMdraft 1, I deleted it made another and everythings working fine now >.< stupid mistake I guess, but hey at least it works now hooray! Thanks for
ALL of your peoples's help! I will probably be back though, as I will surely have questions while making my map

and speaking of...I need help once again with SCM, it seems that when I choose a player color save the map, and start the map up in starcraft it returns the players to original colors (EX. Player 1 is always Red by default, I changed the color of player 1 to Green, it confirms this when I close and reenter the map settings, but if I play the map in Starcraft it changes Player 1 back to red) please help

Please Refer to your previous post...
Other then that:
Green is a BrooDWar Colour. A because of that, you end up with red rather than green. To test this theory, change P1 to player 12 neutral (Light Blue) colour and execute Starcraft.

Ya ya, so I THOUGHT everything was working, and it was before I started testing my map...anyways, I am using broodwar with the game and its not just P1 that gets changed back to its original
(player my color---color changed back to)
(P1 green---red)
(P2 Purple---blue)
(P3 Red---Teal)
(P4 Blue---Purple)
(P6 white---Orange or brown I dont remember)

Hm...
Uncheck Random Start Locations
Put them on the same team for this test.
THE TEST
Set player 1 to Blue
Confirm this by re-entering the screen.
Place a terran marine anywhere on the map
Place a P2 Marine anywhere on the map
Uncheck Random Start Locations
Place start locations for both players
When the game starts, are they both blue?
None.

I've had the randomize start location unchecked, and I did what u said P1 and P2 blue and no P1 turns back to red and P2 is blue and yes I had randomize start location unchecked and I did place start locations.

Vi3t-X: Green is not a BW color, gosh. Just because it wasn't used in the SC campaign....
I think you're just using the wrong screen or something. Try checking around the toolbar stuff. I remember I had this problem. Sorry, I'm not too much help. Just mess around and you should get it.

I kinda dont understand what you mean by the wrong screen and the toolbars.

I guess you didn't do something wrong. It's a bug of ScmD2. I had that, too.
I didn't find a way to revert it back to normal, since the editor shows the colors I entered, but ingame they change.
However I found a workaround: Open the map in Starforge, change a few things, save, set your colors, save again. With that version you can play normally or go back to ScmD and finish the map. But don't touch the colors again or you would have to apply the workaround again.
I have a theory on when this bug is happening: A map that is created as .scm but later saved as .scx. Can you confirm it?
I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.
make sure that the editor saves your map as a scx map.
you cannot edit the colors in *.scm maps.
I think some of you forgot that the problem is so easy.
nuderaider showed me a link a few days ago (why didn't you see the real problem?).
http://www.campaigncreations.org/starcraft/staredit/teamcolors.shtmlAnother interesting thing is that you can make more than one player the same color. =)
O.K., this isn't exactly a new trick, and Quantum should probably get the credit for presenting it in his CHK specs (I learned about this from King Arthur back when Broodwar came out). Number one, you must know how to hex edit because this requires that you manually modify parts of the *.chk file (uncompressed map data). Number 2, your map must be an scx because this section of the chk is not present in non-broodwar maps (it is usually used for the green color in ice and desert maps).
they talk about modifieing colors. Today editors have the power to change the colors. but this works only in *.scx (Broodwar) maps because
there is a color section in *.scx maps which is not existing in *.scm maps.
just add a medic or a valkyrie in your map to make sure that it is
saved as a broodwar map.
If you do not have Broodwar, you cannot edit colors.
BTW, now do not forget to
deselect random start locations.
