Questions about Powerups

How do I detect when a specific player brings a powerup to a location, using a worker?
When the worker picks up the powerup, does ownership of the powerup go to the worker's owner? If so, does the powerup retain that ownership if the worker is killed and the powerup is dropped?

How do I detect when a powerup has been dropped, and it is not on top of a Beacon?

EDIT: New question... Is there any kind of trickery that would allow me to get the Mineral icon into a string? It'd be so much more awesome to say "10[icon]" than "10 minerals" when listing unit prices, particularly when listing prices using the names of units in a dropship system...

Definitely, yes.

I think so, yes, but you should double-check.

I'm pretty sure there is something odd about powerups, where they can't be detected as [men], but can be detected as [any unit] or the specific powerup you're looking for. The details of this were on the old wiki page for SC quirks and annoyances, but it seems the link to the oldwiki is really fucked up at the moment and I can't find the page in there (if you click on page 2, it shows the 2nd through last items from page 1, + 1 more, and page 3 shows the 2nd through last items from page 2, + 1 more, instead of showing entirely new content). Nag the admins to fix it - that oldwiki is like gold because in another 12 months or so a lot of the details and tricks are going to be forgotten as people move to SC2.

Nice idea, but I've never seen this mentioned or used in any maps anywhere. I'm sure if it were possible, it would've been done by now.

An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

I believe once a power-up has been picked up by a unit, you can no longer detect it with locations for the time it is being held.

Actually, my map just detected it, but can't Remove it from the holder. I'll try Killing the powerup out of the SCV's hands.

EDIT: No luck. I'll have to remove and recreate the worker.

Ah yes, that's right; I just remember it being barely incapable of any practical application I came up with for worker/power-up systems.

Haha, I actually had to remove the worker, and then loop through every powerup on the map and specifically remove the dropped powerup. Half the time, it would outlive the worker. (Maybe because it landed outside the location that I was removing its carrier from?)

I read somewhere that you can make halucinated powerups and they disapear after being picked up by a worker, also that allows the worker to pick ups other things like subunits and even buildings, something interesting that was mentioned on the same thread was that the subunit did attack while they were being carried by the worker, giving a tank attack to a SCV.
I'm not very good editing so I don't remember the details about how to do it exactly, but it works, find out how xd.

IIRC the SCV still does SCV damage, and it's very crash-prone.

I should really reinstall starcraft...

I could have sworn you can both detect powerups and remove them while they are picked up at a location (or with the "remove unit" action). Perhaps the map I'm thinking of just removed the drone and made a new one somewhere else.

The "Remove Unit" action works regardless of it being held or not, but specifying the location in which the power-up is located doesn't seem to work when it is held by a worker.

Hm...I think I've seen this in a map pack on SEN which included cool mapping tricks on it....I think first they create the tank somewhere, then do something with it and move it to the unit (in your case the SCV) as a cloaked image of the tank, and the image can attack. Or maybe sprites. I don't really know about that. The problem with that is, it slows down the unit with the cloaked images kind of like vHP, and I don't think it is possible for a human player to own the images, which makes them impossible to upgrade, and unless you give these cloaked images to a single player, you can't really tell whose cloaked images kill a unit when they do. (If my grammar is hard to understand, I apologize :()
