I'm currently looking into upgrading my XFX Radeon 6870.
Are there any recommendations regarding best bang for the buck which is still a reasonable upgrade?
A friend of mine is selling his 7870 he bought April this year for 180 (maybe I can haggle a bit).
Apparently it's about 1/3 faster, but since he got the OC edition it should be ~ 40% faster.
Seems like a fair deal, but I'd like to have a few other options too.
EDIT: Short stroll on eBay and I find
- a used (bought 2 months ago) HIS ICEQ x2 7970 GHZ Edition for 250 (maybe slightly less)
- a used Sapphire AMD Radeon HD7970 OC Edition 3072 MB for 260 (maybe slightly less)
Comments?

I have the geforce gtx 760. I recommend it - good combo of performance and price.
Basically your choices come down to the
Radeon 7950 and a
GeForce 760.
According to
this, the 760 is your best bet, which nearly beats out my 7970 for about $100 less (but then it wouldn't match my color scheme anyway nyaa~).
None.

Thanks for the comments so far but keep in mind that the "best bang for the buck" is only part of my request.
As I'm likely to buy a used card I'm also interested in getting a perspective to the offers I've found so far.
For example, how much faster are these cards, and how much more money are they worth.
I found the 7950 to be superior to the GeForce, the latter of which went up in flames during stress-testing and again combusted during a playthrough of SCII. I bought mine on sale (new) for $300/224 and it hasn't failed me yet. I would recommend it, used or new, assuming the used product has been well-preserved.

http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-HD-7970-vs-GeForce-GTX-760The GTX 760 will serve you well for gaming. The HD 7950 would also be a decent upgrade from what you currently have. I would suggest waiting for someone like rockz to find a miracle deal for you, but I suppose it's different when you're not in the US.

Since consensus seems to be that a 7870 OC just isn't big enough an upgrade to be even worth mentioning I looked into some GTX 760 and 680 deals. Here's my current favorites: (all used)
Sapphire Radeon HD
7970 OC Edition 3072 MB for
264 (possibly less, business seller)
Gainward GeForce GTX
680 for
240ZotaC GeForce GTX
760 2048MB for
218 (business seller)
SAPPHIRE HD
7950 3GB
OC for
189 (refurbished, business seller)
Gigabyte Windforce HD
7870 (2048 MB)
OC-Version for
150Thoughts?
EDIT:
The GTX 760 will serve you well for gaming
Well the 7870 OC seems to be on par with the GTX 760 but used cards seem to be much more expensive. Am I missing something here? Well just on your site apparently. The GTX 760 Seems to be ~ 20% faster than the 7870 OC.

Ah thanks, I was looking for a source like that.
But to be more correct,
this is my card. Which features better cooling and an additional 100 MHz clock boost.

I picked up my new Gainward GTX760 a couple of hours ago. Haven't put it in yet, but on paper it looks like a good card for its price. I was considering a GTX770, but the price was a bit too steep, plus this one was 10 % off.
I suggest the 7970 because it delivers quite a punch.
I can play games like DmC: Devil May Cry and etc. maxed out completely.

DmC isn't very demanding.

*shrugs* looks like it's a well optimized game.

I'd get a 780 for that price every time.
my miracle deals only work in the US or canada.

I went for a Sapphire 7870 XT for 150 including shipping that has been bought half a year ago.
This is mainly because I couldn't get a good deal for a GTX 760 (all ~200).
Thanks for your input guys.
