wth is starcraft

What have been the most disappointing moments in games for you?

I think the one at the top of my list is Dagoth Ur's voice in Morrowind.

You go through all these crazy hoops to go find him and defeat him, and you show up at his home. With baited breath you step through...and he sounds like Al Gore. Really guys? The eternal evil of the world sounds like Al Gore? He asks you to bring Wraithguard to him as if it is simply some EPA reports. Disappoint!

Just here for the pie

Since you went with voices I will too.

Matthew Perry's voicing of Benny in Fallout: New Vegas.
The voice acting in the original Fable that I hated as a kid.
A lot of others that I can't really think of right now.

When the story makes it seem like the final boss is so powerful, yet it simply dies in one shot or you do nothing at all. What was the whole purpose of creating a super evil and corrupt antagonist only to die without you doing anything?

None.

I hated most bosses in The Thing because they were just tentacles growing from the ground/wall. The final one was also very easy and offered a one-dimensional fight.

None.

I feel this exactly every boss fight in Darkspore.

Lol... I got so bored of darkspore after the first beta weekend that I tested it.

I don't really get disappointed by games. Not to the extent that one outstanding moment of my disappointment jumps out.

I miss the good old Counterstrike (1.3) days as well as when Warcraft II was all the rage. But that's just me being nostalgic. I expect to be a little disappointed by Civilizations 5 when I get round to buying it - since I hear nothing but people loving or hating it, and if it's causing all this fuss then I'm bound to have high expectations at the very least.

That happens in Oblivion. You're like FUCK YA MEHRUNES DAGON and then the dude turns into a dragon and defeats it. Its like GUISE I HAS SWORD let me poke thingz.

But that also was a huge disappointment with Wrath of the Lich King, there were these huge bosses, but you got an item that 'weakened' them. Its like oh...why couldn't you have done this?

Mass Effect 3: (Spoiler Alert)

The entire terminator reapers made of human juice thing is silly. I enjoyed the game quite a lot, including the suicide mission- I just am choosing to remove this detail from my Mass Effect mental canon.

Back* from the grave

When the storyline JUST DOESN'T WORK. Great (non-game) example: the old DBZ. When all hell is breaking loose, and nobody can stop the ne'er-do-well, a new "technique" or super saiyan level is found, and Goku rapes their face and their conscience with his muscular morality. Or random time travel.

Also, semi-related: I hate when a game picks a port to use that my college picks to block.

When I found out that all three Starcraft 2 games were going to cost 60 dollars.

Mar 21 2011, 12:17 am UnholyUrine Post #11

I'd say Starcraft 2, but then I'd be burned @ a stake..

hmmm
Fallout 3 dissapointed me b/c of its NPC and lack of perception...
I was stealing things, and I was caught, and suddenly the ENTIRE town was out to get me.. and of course, I tried to run by leaving the building... and of course, the autosave overwritted my previous saves... badaboom.

Civ V was dissapointing b/c they only made two scenarios for you to play with... and I mean only two. Out of all the god damn wars in History, they only put TWO in the game. I mean it wasn't even hard after they've finished with the game.. all they had to do was set the variables to be similar to the scenario described in history.. But they were too lazy to even do that...

Little Big Planet for implementing a clunky online system that doesn't work very well... people joining mid-game lags like hell and ruins gameplay...

Darkspore was dissapointing as well :P

Civ V was dissapointing

I sort of felt the same way.

Civ V pros:
Great graphics
Tech tree less complicated
Cities don't battle with culture for tiles
City States

Civ V cons:
Widespread Bugs (in Mac version at least)
Long loading screens
Clunky interface (Civ IV's was much better, why didn't they keep the best aspects of it?
-Advisor system is bad
-Minimap interface is clumsy
-Diplomatic interface is worse
-Biggest disappointments: no SHIFT to queue production, no ALT to select all units in tile :massimo:)
System requirements (couldn't they have set options for lower graphics?)
Hard to expand your empire through conquest
Useless leaders
No hot seat

Civ V neutrals
Hex grid instead of square tiles
New combat system
Government/civics/social policies system
No more religion
Happiness made empire-wide instead of city-specific
Culture made empire-wide instead of city specific
New/changed tile improvements

Overall, not that much better, if at all, from Civ IV. It seemed to have less playtime value than its predecessor.

Win by luck, lose by skill.

On a whole, I found Sims 3 disappointing, too. It felt like it went a step backward on actual game play, even though it did work out a few kinks in characterization or in the engine.

Freelancer was a string of disappointments from one end to the other, at least from the point of view of a space combat sim junkie.

None.

Also, another disappointment: Mincecraft multiplayer.

Just Here For The Pie

Mirror's Edge. It dazzled me in with its graphics and cool trailers, but turned out to be a real bomb.
The game was short, the story was terrible, and the game-play involved you falling to your death constantly.

Hands down, Mirror's Edge is the worst game I have bought for the current console generation, and I have some pretty sloppy third-party games.

Spore.

Earth 2160, Neverwinter Nights 2. Also both ridiculous flops/failures. But even combined none of those compare to the disappointment of Starcraft 2. I knew it was going to be bad... but... Dear God.

Show them your butt, and when you do, slap it so it creates a sound akin to a chorus of screaming spider monkeys flogging a chime with cacti. Only then can you find your destiny at the tip of the shaft.

Question. I was thinking of playing through The Thing because unfortunately back when I had it for the Xbox it got scratched to hell so I couldn't finish it and hardly remember it. Is it worth it?
