I know how to blind units such as marines, which can attack the medic to force it to blind it, but I don't know how to get a civilian blinded, as the civilian can't attack the medic to force it to blind it. The wiki article about terran spells is broked, BTW.

Find Me On Discord (Brood War UMS Community & Staredit Network)

Try having the medic issued an attack order or patrol order on where the Citizen is located. Make sure energy and research has been done as well. You could perhaps also try setting the Medic's HP to red this might increase their chance of attacking.

An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

Have the medic attacked by a cloaked unit? There are also some requirements that need to be met before a medic will blind a unit. I believe the civilian needs at least 81 HP.

Hmm, the wiki linked to in the sticky in UMS assistance is broken then.

SDE, BWAPI owner, hacker.

I have some very detailed information on computer spellcasting, however it is incomplete. I will post the information relevant to a Medic's Blind ability though.

[Common]
The following are general requirements for all spells:
  • Target is visible and detected (this includes any revealed areas on the map)
  • Target is owned by an enemy player
  • Target is not a Protoss Interceptor, Vulture Spider Mine, or Protoss Scarab
  • Target is not harvesting gas

[Terran Medic: Optical Flare]
  • [Common] must be true
  • Target must not be a building
  • Target must not be blind
  • Target must be a detector, completed, and must not be disabled, locked down, stasised, maelstromed, or blind
  • If the above point is not met, then the unit's current hitpoints and shields combined must be greater than 80
  • Must have maximum energy stored

The unit is more likely to cast it on a unit within a 288-boxed-pixel radius.
Another condition will give it a 1024-boxed-pixel radius.

I can find information for other spells if necessary.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Ultraviolet -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort

Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
