Regarding the forum indexI uploaded a new revision after Devourer left. The new version uses vastly-improved HTML and CSS, but -- as you can probably tell -- has several visual differences from the old version. I've been told by several people that these visual differences are... unpleasant. So I need you guys's feedback (and Dev's, when he is next online) to determine what should be improved. Here are some improvements that I have in mind, and that I will add if requested. I strongly urge you to speak your minds; if you want additional changes other than those listed here, please contact me or (if you feel like bugging the person who
isn't responsible for the problems) Devourer.
List of needed fixes- Google Chrome Forum images are being applied to all cells in a row instead of to the row (TR) itself, the latter being what the CSS dictates. Maybe Chrome thinks backgrounds on a TR are invalid, or perhaps this is some naive optimization they made? Investigate, try to find a fix.
- Opera, newest Holy dicks.
- All The collapse links don't have a link cursor. Have the scripts slap a dummy HREF on them to fix this. Be sure to return false in their handlers to avoid annoying scrolling.
List of changes to be made and/or that can be made- More margins -- increase the space between the forum listing and the edge of the window. (Note to self: CSS padding on the table, not margin)
- Brighten the gradient
- [requested, will be started soon] Edit the collapse/expand button to use a graphic instead of text
- [requested, will be started soon] Border for the nav's dropdowns. Black is fine.
You may also notice that the site no longer "remembers" what forums you've collapsed; I do apologize for this and will begin working on additional JS to restore that feature tomorrow.
On a related note, please feel free to report any bugs or criticisms you have to Devourer or myself, through any communications mediums you deem appropriate. Actually, you should probably just send them to me, seeing as I'm probably the reason that your criticisms exist. My SEN inbox is filling up, so if it gets full, message me via WLM or something.
EDIT: Things for Dev:
- The forum images on the index need to have their upper-left corners rounded so that they don't protrude through the "bubble" backgrounds. Seeing as several of them have a top border drawn in, this shouldn't limit their usefulness or appearance.

like 16 px into each bar the image cuts off and then starts over... The image cuts off again on the forum statistics column, and then the last post column is sufficiently wide (on my screen) to not do that, but then it appears again on the far right margin.

@Farty: the graphics for each subforum? I set them as a background on the table row; maybe your browser's taking that to mean "put it on each table cell". What browser are you using?
Speaking of which, guys, I shoulda mentioned this: if things look weird and accidental, please mention your browser and version.

Also why did the collapse/expand turn into [Collapse]? The [+] and [-] images looked nice, I thought.

CHROOOOMMMMEEE! *shakes fist*
K, I''ll get on that. Chrome's interpreting a tr{background-image} as a tr>td{background-image}... Odd.

But if you're wondering why despite that: semantic markup purposes. More screen-reader-friendly. I shoot for perfect code. In any case, CSS can be used to very easily replace text with an image; I just need to find/make a suitable image. (The ones previously used were too small.)

@LoTu)S: Direct the inconsistency bug to Devourer, please, that's his issue. I suspect it happens to quotes posted before the implementation of user-chosen icons.

Just here for the activity... well not really

Actually, It happens on new posts too.

[collapse] looks terrible IMO. And if you're going to keep it, can you make it so that my mouse doesn't turn into that text thing when I hover over it?
That's been mentioned before. The icon of a quoted member is based on what icon they have when the post is made. It can't be changed.

@kevin, Devlin: Looks like the PHP that generates the HTML output for [
quote] still uses a URL instead of a variable or whatever.
@Demon: I already said I plan on changing the cursor and turning the text into an image

WTF! when I first saw that (sexy) icon... I actually saw a donut oO
I'll add that package the next days.

rockz's icons are cooler than mine hahaha
By the way, I disagree on having a different admin icon for each set. Their green globe is pretty remarkable and resembles SEN itself -- I think it's better to always have them with the current one no metter what.

I agree. I'd also prefer the same GMod/Staff icon for every set for consistency, but it's okay if that doesn't happen.

Is it supposed to look like this? I'm using chrome by the way. It just happened today; it's never looked like this before.
