I could give many reasons why this "merger" wouldn't be a good thing for SEN, but I'm just going to keep it simple and say I do not agree with a merger.

I would elaborate without hesitation if it becomes necessary, but Moose seems to be against it so there's no need to add more.

Yes, the adblocks being needed and ads existing made me cry. If SEN merged anywhere, the chances are high I'd ditch it and just sit on battle.net.

Not to mention there would be more admins which may not do their job for the "LuLz" or have any sense of humor such as the wonderful moose.

And what would happen to mafia...

I don't think anyone responded to this one yet. For a short while, we had those Google Ads that would show up under the first post in each topic. They were easy to miss, though.

As for the topic at hand, I agree with everyone else here. SEN has lasted this long and has survived its ups and downs without the aid of merging with some other major community. Even though we harbor thousands of members, SEN has always felt like a small group, and I like it that way.

Never anything with popups or full ads anywhere, it was like 3 lines of text.

Please, do it. It will be a quick $900 for whoever gets it, and as Tau said (yeah i still say Tau) maplantis would come back.
If it does come back (just today I was feeling sad and looking at staredit.net/maplantis ) I would paypal tau $10 CDN a month to pay for it.

I think Maplantis needs a new colour scheme, and more updated graphics and should probably only come out around the time SC2 comes out, when there will be a huge urge for online mapping communities of the sort... Until then it will just spark more controversial arguments on who goes where, which is better and more merging topics...

Maplantis going down was a bad thing. If anything staredit should have merged with Maplantis.

Their site does look better than ours, but that should really just push IP to try harder and make this place at least as functional as Maplantis was.

While well drawn, I don't find their comic funny/clever. I would have a field day coming up with funny SC cliches, but this would not cut it at all. I really wouldn't feel safe posting in a forum moderated by someone with such primitive undeveloped humor. They would probably not understand mine and delete all my posts.

I also have never heard of VileGaming. On the other hand, I believe the majority of b.net knows something about staredit.net in some fashion. Just being staredit.net is an important commodity.

Whoa guys, let's not rule out any non-Maplantis merger possibilities until Google makes its offer first.

I definitely don't agree with the merger at all, but at the same time I wish someone would work on the site a little at least... I mean there is a bug that prevents people from viewing topics they havn't read (if they do "view unread posts"), and its been there for like 2 weeks! Also you can't view wiki articles with some certain characters in the name? These should have been fixed when they were found. Where is IP? Moose can't do it alone!

(note: and yes I would fix them myself if I had the chance, maybe i'll volunteer to help with the site soon when I have a little more time)

This isn't a discussion about Maplantis, I have no intention of bringing it back. I just said, if SEN went away then Maplantis would probably come back to take its place. You guys are talking about a new colour scheme for a site that I have no plans for bringing back for the moment.

I'm having a great time just coding latova, playing some team fortress 2 on the side, and generally doing life/school stuff. I don't need to be burdened by another project unless I think its needed.

Reading through the first post my thoughts were "LOL, is this guy serious? Does he even know who is at this site?" SEN is way too elitist to take any lowly offer from "VileGaming" ;P

I think them merging with us would give similar results. The thing I like about SEN is the simple forum layout without the flashy and distracting ads on the side. Just out of curiousity, spartan, are you even reading this topic anymore?

It looks like the only thing we have in common is Starcraft.

SEN's purpose is in UMS/Modding Assistance/showcase. Everything else is gravy that you have to have to keep people coming back, or else they will leave. That "everything else" is also the source of drama, which at times is hilarious, but has to be kept in check.

LOL, the site actually hosts a miscredited Uberena (MiniMoose is the author spartan, not Majestic). There goes any chance they had...

They really need to fix their map submission functions. I know it's probably just the way the site deals with submissions, but their users clearly don't give a dam enough about the original creators to even mention them in the description.
