STARCRAFT II - StarCraft Master --- Custom Map ---
Blizzard is about to release their 'new' map "StarCraft Master" in near future.
To be honest, the map existed within everyone's Starcraft 2 installation for more than 1.5 years. But now the polished and balanced version of that map will be released as its achievements and a new profile portrait were already findable in the profile for quite some time now.
The map itself contains 30 micro oriented scenarios teaching players how to maximize their units efficiency in some specific situations. It comes with some features: If you can't success in one level, you can warp to another level or check out the hint in the help menu.
Blizzard releases their own impossible scenarios map. Maybe it will revive this genre in the sc2 mapping scene. We will find out soon.
I shall not be disappointed. To ensure this, I will not play. I just can't imagine Blizzard employees making a map that an old BW customs enthusiast like myself would like -they didn't play those maps. It's going to be a modernized and disappointing attempt by some designer who knows less than he thinks he knows.
Very professionally done, but it's not fun. It's single player only. The first infestor stage is bugged. Not enough zerg love. Where the hell is Blizzard dota?

I didn't play it, yet. :S Will try it out after lunch...
edit: I can't do 27-30... but I'm not a korean micro god... I didn't even come close to winning with the banshee vs marines level :S I guess you need a special angle to minimize damage received.
But in general it's an ok map from Blizzard. I didn't expect more than I got from them.
edit: won 12. Portrait is mine.
edit: won 25... it's quite easy, if you know the correct order. ;D

Managed to beat 20 levels just now. Not too bad, considering that I've barely touched the game since release. Gave up on anything that included Infestors and levels with larger amounts of units where you had to micro one unit at the time. I just can't keep up with the rapid switching between the units
Their goal was a micro oriented map based on the melee game and except for the snipe damage fail, they achieved that.
To be honest, I was pleased to see that they added a few micro professional oriented technics to the map. It's basically a micro instruction map which contains scenarios which go into the direction of korean micro.
Bronze players can win some of the maps and learn some micro tricks like the first level where you only need to move 1 marine in a big circle while the other marine shoots the zealot or just how to move a large pack of stalkers over cliffs very fast. Average sc2 players like me reach their limits with the last few levels. I've won 26/30 now. More melee oriented players are able to win the complete map. Professionals can finish the map on first try below 30 minutes (like I've heard on Teamliquid that Polt did that on his steam).
Easy to learn hard to master... as usual.
So I think it's a great little map except for the usage of the old ghost snipe.
I hate that most of the map was teaching you how to own zerglings. I feel like I'm gonna have a harder time on b.net now

This was probably the most useful thing people will learn. The rest of it felt more like how to take advantage of the AI if the opponent isn't doing any micro. And yeah, lol @ the snipe training that doesn't work anymore...

I don't think Bronze players should be spending a whole lot of time on micro. I, for one, wouldn't become better by spending more time managing a few units; better macro is way more useful in lower levels.
I beat it! It took 45 minutes. Thought it was okay, but could really learn a lot from BW maps. Not disappointed because expectations weren't super high.
Yeah I'm not a big fan of Westernhagen either, Fanta vier much better! But they didn't drop the lyrics that fit the situation. Farty: Ich bin wieder hier; nobody: in meinem Revier; Me: war nie wirklich weg
