An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

So... how does Aristo know which rooms electricity hes cutting in the dark, or did I miss the explanation?

I wouldn't be surprised if each circuit was labeled.

You think back to when the owner invited you to come. When he asked, you decided to accept because it sounded like it could be fun, like a small vacation you were getting for free. You figured it would be nice to get away for a few days, maybe meet some new people and have a good time. He didn't say anything unusual and you were not especially reluctant. You are sure it was the first time you'd ever seen him before, and you also didn't recognize any of the other guests.
I think I've recalled all I can. I didn't know anyone here prior to arrival, I knew nothing about the owner, I brought nothing of value in our current situation, I didn't witness anything suspicious, and I didn't notice the movements of others much before the murder.

WALL OF TEXT ALERT!

Quote from DavidJCobb
Quote from name:Azrael.Wrath
Thinking back, you're unsure of exactly who was at the house when you got there, aside from rayNimagi who you remember entering from the sunroom. A few people arrived after you as well. After everyone was present, there was a brief tour of the first floor, then the group disbanded. The owner handed you your room key and you went upstairs, to the last room on the right, after heading right from the top of the stairs. At the time, he was smiling and seemed to be in a very good mood.

After entering your room, you came to find that you were sharing the room with Vi3t-X, though he walked out as you were walking in. After a while of lying in your bed, and then putting your clothing away in your designated dresser, you slid your bag under your bed and left the room. As you closed the door behind you and locked it, Wing Zero exited from the room across from you, walking past you to go downstairs. You followed, going down into the lobby.

The owner was there by himself, and started up some small talk with you. You answered him directly, and not feeling like conversing, said you were headed to the kitchen to get a pre-dinner snack. As you entered the kitchen, Tempz passed you, walking into the dining room. You looked around the kitchen, found a box of granola bars, and started to eat one of them. As you were finishing the last bite, you heard the scream that led you to investigate.

Quote from rayNimagi
Quote from name:Az (via PM)
You think back to when you met the owner. He was one of the members of your swimming aerobics class, where you often went to remain fit. You'd never actually spoken to him before, so you were surprised when he approached you and asked you to come for the weekend. You declined at first, but he insisted you come for at least a few hours, and said he would provide transportation. You decided it couldn't hurt and agreed. You are not sure who, if anyone, he knew well enough that they could hold a grudge against him.

Quote from LoTu)S
Quote
You think back to when you were invited to stay here by the owner. He was a man you didn't knew at all, although he dressed in a way that indicated he might be somewhat wealthy. The only time you had met him was while you were ringing out his groceries at the store, where you work as a cashier. He stuck out to you due to his style of dress, and you'd seen him at the register a few times. When he asked if you would attend a get-together at his place for the weekend, you were fairly surprised. However, upon arriving and mingling with the other guests, you got the distinct impression that he had invited many of the people the same way. No one seemed to be particularly close to him, or even know him that well.

After arriving, you took your bags up to your room, which you found you were sharing with Wing Zero, and slid them under the bed. You left the room to go to the bathroom, and after finishing, entered the hallway just as DavidJCobb was leaving down the stairs. You returned to your room to find Wing Zero gone. You emptied the clothes from your bag, organized them in your designated dresser, and as you finished, you heard the scream which caused you to go downstairs.

You did not know the owner well enough to determine who might have a reason to kill him, and didn't get the impression from any of the guests that they knew him well enough to have such a reason.
Paper or Plastic?

You sprint east and then south. Everything in the lobby is as you remember it, with arkla and Vi3t-X still standing here as well, with zone out expressions on their faces.

You think back to when you met the owner. You were with your accountant at his office, going over some numbers with your finances, and this man arrived to speak with him. Your accountant introduced the two of you to one another before they left briefly to an adjacent room. They returned after a moment, and as he was leaving, the owner asked the accountant whether or not he could come for the weekend. The accountant said he was unfortunately too busy, at which point the owner mentioned that it would be fine for him to stop by for a few hours rather than the whole weekend. The accountant again declined. The owner then turned to you, and made you the same offer. You were surprised to say the least, but decided to accept.

You remember that before the murder, many of the guests had gone upstairs, either to go to their rooms or to use the bathroom. You think that perhaps all of them did, at one point or another. The one person you're certain about is yourself, as you were sharing a guest bedroom with another person upstairs.

You are a man in the middle-class bracket who has come here for a few hours to enjoy yourself. The owner was a man you only knew through work, and he was one of your more wealthy clients, having you install one of the largest walk-in freezers you'd ever worked on. When he approached you, asking if you would attend a get-together at his place for the weekend, you were fairly surprised. You declined due to having to work, but he insisted you come for at least a few hours. Upon arriving and mingling with the other guests, you got the distinct impression that he had invited many of the people the same way. No one seemed to be particularly close to him, or even know him that well.

You remember arriving at the mansion via a transport service hired by the owner, in a fancy black car that dropped you off at the gate and left. You brought nothing of particular interest with you, and immediately after arriving you were standing in the lobby, talking to some other guests. You estimate you were in the house for at least a few hours before the murder occurred.

Quote from rayNimagi

You think back to your arrival at the property. When you arrived, no one else had shown up yet, and you were worried that you would be the only guest. You stayed in the sunroom for a while until the rest started showing up. When you entered the lobby, there was already a small crowd gathered, talking to each other and the owner. After the rest arrived there was a brief tour around the first floor, and then the group disbanded.

You spent the next few hours walking around and talking to various people, plus getting yourself something to eat, you finally ended up going to sit on the front steps. As you exited the front door, you remember Zilean entering the house. You sat down, enjoying the cool night air. A few minutes later, you heard the scream which caused you to go back inside.

You think back to when you first arrived at the mansion. You noticed that quite a number of other people were there, and realized that things may get complicated. While conversing amongst the other guests, you particularly stayed close to the owner. After the brief tour of the first floor, you grew impatient and decided to relax in the sun room. Minutes later, Wing Zero entered from the lobby and took a nearby seat. After briefly glancing at him, you got up and walked out into the lobby. To your surprise, the house owner was standing in the middle of the room by himself. He smiled at you, and began to talk when you quickly draw a knife from your back pocket and plunge it into the center of his chest. Seemingly unable to comprehend what had occurred, the house owner glanced down at the blade before falling on his back.

Hearing a noise in an adjacent room, you begin to panic. You simulate a scream and take three steps back from the body. As the other guests began entered the room, you mimicked their shocked expressions to blend into the forming crowd.

Here's my recollection results:

Quote
You think back to when you were invited to come here. You were at a store, hanging out with your friends, and one of them said "Dude, this other dude totally asked me to come hang out with him at his crib." You said, "Damn dude, that's wack." Then he said, "Yeah I know right? I almost said yes for a sec, since he looked real fly between his Rolex and threads, but then I was like, naw dude, I ain't down." You considered this for a moment, and after realizing the man must be wealthy and might be hosting an excellent party, you said "Yo dude point out this sucka."

He used his index finger to indicate to you who it was that made the offer, and you went over and stood a few feet from the owner, looking for an opportunity to go over and ask for an invitation. However, to your surprise, within less than 30 seconds he was already walking over to you, and made you the offer himself. You said, "Hell yeah dude I be down for that, where I sign man?" He simply smiled, and after putting your number into his cell phone, said he would contact you later to arrange your ride.

so basically all I was looking forward to was beer pong LOL

Diary entries so far (going backwards in time):
  1. Quote
"My guests are finally starting to arrive, and I couldn't be more excited! I haven't had company even once in the years since my wife passed away. It is too lonely living like this though, by myself with no human contact. I'm glad I managed to make a few new acquaintances and that were willing to come out. I don't know any of them very well yet, but hopefully that will change soon. It'd be nice to actually have some company from time to time, so my goal here is to make a few friends from this lot. I believe another person has shown up, I should hurry and attend to them."
  2. Quote
"I just finished dinner, a large slab of steak with a baked potato, warm soup, and a salad. It was incredibly delicious, though the rhubarb pie afterward may have been even better. Anyways, my day was not too eventful, except I finally found a sixth person to agree to spend the entire weekend. It seems I've filled the last guest bedroom now, so I can't really invite anyone else. I really hope the people will arrive that have said they would, though considering I have their phone numbers and am arranging their rides for them, a good number of them will certainly come."
  3. Quote
"I had an excellent day today! Another half-dozen people agreed to come out this weekend, though only two of them said they would spend the night. As long as they come though, that's all that really matters. If I surround myself with enough people, I'm sure a few of them will turn out to be reputable individuals that I can end up having over more often. I'm a little worried that some of them may turn out to be bad people, considering how little I know of them, but that's simply a chance I'll have to take. As long as they don't turn out to be thieves or murderers it should be alright."
  4. Quote
"I visited my accountant today acting like I wanted to make sure my finances were in order, though he does good work and I already knew they would be. I really just wanted to ask him to come out to the house, which he declined. I know he's extremely busy all days of the week so I can't hold it against him. Other than that, I asked a few more people to come this weekend, many of whom said they would get back to me, but a few confirmed coming, and one said he'd spend the entire weekend. It'll be nice having the sounds of other people in the house, I'm so tired of this lonely silence."
  5. Quote
"Today was almost a complete loss, as I didn't find anyone who would agree to come to the house for even a little while. In fact, I met very few people I even had the opportunity to ask at all. However, I went to a local restaurant for dinner, where they serve a superb apple pie. It's usually filled with families, but tonight there was a man sitting in one of the booths by himself, and I noticed he was looking around occasionally, as if he were looking for someone. I thought that perhaps he was lonely as well, being in a place like this alone, and made a point of approaching him to ask if he would like to come to my house this weekend. It seemed to brighten his mood, and his reaction leads me to believe that even if it turns out he can't stay the whole weekend, he'll at least come for a few hours. I suppose today was productive after all."

Well I've still got recollections and diary reading to fill that time, but I really wanted to get to those clothes ASAP. Where did you find the IDs originally, by the way?

Also, do you think we could get by it if I unlock the door and the both us begin pushing?

Edit: Alright I give up on the alternate murder crap, until further evidence becomes apparent. I'll just go with my original approach instead:

rayNimagi
  1. Was first to arrive.
  2. Stayed in sunroom until others started showing up.
  3. Joined others in lobby, took brief first-floor tour, disbanded with group?
  4. Roamed and socialized for next few hours.
  5. Got something to eat.
  6. Exited front door as Zilean entered house.
  7. Was sitting in front of steps at time of murder.

Aristocrat
  1. Arrived at gate via. transport service hired by owner (fancy black car).
  2. Talked to other guests in lobby after arriving.

LoTu)S
  1. Took bags up to room (which?) being shared with Wing Zero, slid under bed.
  2. Left guest room to go to bathroom.
  3. Entered hallway as DavidJCobb left downstairs.
  4. Entered guest room, Wing Zero gone.
  5. Was emptying clothes from bag into designated dresser when scream prompted him to go downstairs.

DavidJCobb
  1. Unsure of who was at house on arrival, except for rayNimagi in the sunroom.
  2. A few people arrived after.
  3. Took brief first floor tour after everyone arrived, then group disbanded.
  4. Owner handed him room key and he went upstairs (last room on the right after heading right? from top of stairs). Owner was in smiling good mood, then.
  5. Shared room with Vi3t-X, who was walking out as he walked in.
  6. Lying in bed for a while, putting clothes away, slid bag under bed, left room.
  7. Closed and locked door as Wing Zero exited from the room across him to go downstairs.
  8. Followed Wing down into lobby.
  9. Owner attempted small talk.
  10. Went to kitchen to get pre-dinner (THIS TAKES PLACE BEFORE DINNER!) snack.
  11. Tempz passes by going to dining room.
  12. Finished eating a granola bar from kitchen when scream heard.
See what I'm getting at, here? :teach:

I NEED MORE RECOLLECTIONS ABOUT WHAT YOU DID BEFORE THE MURDER, PEOPLE!
I'll have mine next turn, if I'm not dead. :P

Wait... anywhere in particular on the floor? You mean you just found them lying in an arbitrary pile? That detail could change everything.

Also, again, do you think the 2 of us (me and ray) could get in the way I mentioned above?

Timeline, chronological, not divided by player
  • rayNimagi arrives and heads to the sunroom.
  • DavidJCobb arrives.
  • Other guests arrive and form a group in the lobby. Aristocrat arrives via owner-arranged transport, enters the house, and joins the group in the lobby.
    • @DavidJCobb: Who was there before you? Who did you see arrive after? In what order did they arrive after you?
    • @Aristocrat: Who was there before you? Who did you see arrive after? In what order did they arrive after you?
  • rayNimagi joins other guests in the lobby.
    • @rayNimagi: Who was in the lobby when you entered? Who entered the lobby afterward? In what order did they enter?
  • DavidJCobb splits from the group (?), and explores the first floor. rayNimagi splits from the group, and roams and socializes for the next few hours.
    • @DavidJCobb: ...or did you remain with the group, and the entire group explored the first floor? Where specifically did you go?
    • @rayNimagi: If DavidJCobb did split up, did he leave the lobby before or after you? Where specifically did you go?
  • The group disbands.
    • @Aristocrat: Who did you see leave? In what order did they leave? Where did they go?
  • DavidJCobb receives a room key from the owner and goes upstairs. Owner is in a good mood.
    • @DavidJCobb: Where did this take place? Who else was there?
  • DavidJCobb enters his guest room as Vi3t-X leaves it. LoTu)S and Wing Zero enter their guest room either before this time or after DavidJCobb entered his room.
    • @Vi3t-X: When did you get your key from the owner? When did you go to your room? Who else did you see along the way? Did you see LoTu)S and/or Wing Zero enter their guest room before you entered yours?
  • DavidJCobb waits in the guest room for an extended period of time. LoTu)S and Wing Zero enter their guest room either during this time or before DavidJCobb entered his room.
    • @LoTu)S: When did you get your key from the owner? When did you go to your room? Who else did you see along the way?
    • @LoTu)S, Wing Zero: When did you enter your room? Before DavidJCobb entered his and Vi3t-X left his? Or after DavidJCobb entered his? (If you saw Vi3t-X moving away from the guest rooms as you approached or entered yours, then you must've entered after.)
  • LoTu)S exits his guest room and enters the bathroom. This takes place either before or after DavidJCobb entered his room.
  • DavidJCobb exits the guest room. Wing Zero exits his room across the hall.
    • @Wing Zero: When did you get your key from the owner? When did you go to your room? Who else did you see along the way? Was LoTu)S in the guest room with you at any point in time?
  • DavidJCobb and Wing Zero go downstairs to the lobby.
  • LoTu)S exits the upstairs bathroom (entering the hallway) just in time to see DavidJCobb go downstairs. He does not see Wing Zero.
  • LoTu)S re-enters his guest room.
  • Owner attempts small talk with DavidJCobb. DavidJCobb shows no interest.
    • @DavidJCobb: Where does this occur?
  • DavidJCobb retrieves a pre-dinner snack (granola bar) from the kitchen.
  • Tempz passes DavidJCobb en route to the dining room.
    • @Tempz: Where did you come from? Where did you go?
  • rayNimagi retrieves something to eat.
    • @rayNimagi: From where? Who else was there?
  • rayNimagi exits the front door (entering outside). Zilean enters the house (foyer).
    • @Zilean: Did you re-enter after having exited previously, or did you just arrive later than the others?
  • The owner is murdered at the lobby and the body is discovered.
    • DavidJCobb is finishing a granola bar in the kitchen.
    • LoTu)S was transferring his clothes to the drawer in his guest room.
    • rayNimagi is sitting on the front steps outside the house.
    • Roy is standing over the owner, screaming.
  • Others enter the lobby, alerted by Roy's scream.
    • Roy is first on-scene. He screams.
    • Zilean enters next.
    • Aristocrat enters next.

Nightstands can have drawers. You're talking about the IDs, right? If I recall correctly, Tempz found them inside the nightstand. The bloody "rags" were just said to be on the floor. How do we know it's blood and not another red substance? Was significant inspection done?

Anyway, my turn hasn't come in yet, but I've finally made time to do a couple recollection questions. Real ones this time, Tux.

... Or did Azrael stop turns starting today until Sunday?

I repeated it because there are two possible moments when you and Wing could've entered your room (assuming you entered together, which seems to be the case). Thanks for prepping to answer the question via recollection.

I think if we can get a specific timeline for people's pre-murder whereabouts and actions, we can figure out who did it. Dishonesty could be a problem, but given the number of people present in this structure, it shouldn't be difficult to verify any posted recollections by simply looking for moments where one guest saw another. We should be able to, at the very least, figure out who was moving toward the lobby shortly before the murder. We just have to figure out who was moving anywhere at any time.

The trick will be reconciling events that happen for different people at around the same time, and figuring out which happened first, but that's why I posted the compiled non-separated timeline.

Aug 28 2010, 1:16 am The Starport Post #1115

Well I'm fairly sure Azrael won't just give us perfect information to deduce the exact person (at least Roy is probably always going to be circumstantially suspect, for example), but we can at least maybe make a few people innocent with this. It will help later when we get around to voting.

Edit: We'll counter dishonesty by cross referencing stories. Stories that can be verified by at least 1 other person ensure trustworthiness. Yeah, already said. :P

What I'd like to know now is if these recollected events follow their own "turns" or some such...

I don't have any priorities. I'm going to pull the plug for arkla and Viet, do some recollection, and then see if any further suspicion or evidence has developed over the course of three or four turns.

The only use my torch has at the moment is that I am now immune to lights being shut on and off.
