EvidenceThe evidence which incriminated LoTu)S was:
1) A knife identical to the murder weapon in his room, inside his bag.
The knife used to kill the owner was from a set of two identical knives. He took one when he went to kill the owner, and left the other in his bag.
2) A blood-covered button in his pants pocket.
After killing the owner, he went upstairs to change out of his bloody clothes. In his haste, he accidentally ripped a button off of his shirt, which fell into the pocket of the pants he'd just changed into.
3) The entries from the owner's journal compared to the list of contacts in the owner's cell phone.
In one entry, the owner refers to feeling something very ominous about the next day, like he might meet Death himself. On the following day, he meets only one person to add to his contact list. Looking at the entries before then, he'd already added 5 people, making the killer the 6th person that he'd added. The contact list is ordered by date added, and LoTu)S is the 6th person on the list.
Journal Entries
I'm starting a new chapter of my life today, and thus a new journal to commemorate it. I refuse to live a lonely existence any longer, and have come up with a way to solve the problem: I will begin inviting people to spend next weekend here! I can only invite three people, though I'll hopefully make friends with at least one of them. I need to start making plans and deciding who I will be asking.
I had a remarkable idea earlier! I went into town and visited a furniture supplier, who is bringing out a number of beds, nightstands, and similar things for the guest bedrooms. Now I will be able to invite six people, two to each room. Some may be uncomfortable with that, but I'm sure I can find six to fill the rooms, that's less than one person per day! Tomorrow morning I'm going to shop for a cell phone, something I'm not happy about but it is an unfortunate necessity. Although business arrangements are easy enough to make without a phone, I'm afraid that personal relationships are not. I'm sure I can get used to it though.
My plans have already been set into motion! Today I was talking to someone and casually brought up the topic of them coming here for the weekend. At first they declined, saying they would be busy on Saturday, but then offered to stay for a few hours the night before. This has given me a great idea! If anyone declines to stay the entire weekend, then I'll ask if they can come for a little while on Friday instead. This will allow me to invite many more people than I originally thought possible.
My new cell phone is also working well, and greatly facilitated the exchange of information with him. All I have to do is add anyone who agrees to come to my contacts list, and I'll be able to call them all quite easily when it's time to arrange their transportation. Letters and face-to-face arrangements are much more personal than a telephone, but if I'm going to be making some friends then I suppose I'll need a way to communicate efficiently with them. It wasn't that long ago I would have never considered owning a cell phone, now I can't even imagine not having it with me.
I asked quite a few people if they would come next weekend, and two of them agreed to spend at least a couple hours. I'm excited that I've already found a few people to attend, and still have nearly a week to find more. At this rate I should get a respectable number of guests to come, and I'm sure I'll end up making friends with at least some of them, so things are going very well so far. I await the coming days with bated breath.
Today I found two more people to agree to come out next weekend, but I can't enjoy it at all. I've been overcome with an ominous feeling about tomorrow, a horrible sensation like I might meet Death himself. It's to the point that I've begun to consider not leaving the house all day tomorrow. I'm sure it's nothing though, I'm going to sleep if off and try to forget about it entirely.
Today was almost a complete loss, as I didn't find anyone who would agree to come to the house for even a little while. In fact, I met very few people I even had the opportunity to ask at all. However, I went to a local restaurant for dinner, where they serve a superb apple pie. It's usually filled with families, but tonight there was a man sitting in one of the booths by himself, and I noticed he was looking around occasionally, as if he were looking for someone. I thought that perhaps he was lonely as well, being in a place like this alone, and made a point of approaching him to ask if he would like to come to my house this weekend. It seemed to brighten his mood, and his reaction leads me to believe that even if it turns out he can't stay the whole weekend, he'll at least come for a few hours. I suppose today was productive after all.
I visited my accountant today acting like I wanted to make sure my finances were in order, though he does good work and I already knew they would be. I really just wanted to ask him to come out to the house, which he declined. I know he's extremely busy all days of the week so I can't hold it against him. Other than that, I asked a few more people to come this weekend, many of whom said they would get back to me, but a few confirmed coming, and one said he's spend the entire weekend. It'll be nice having the sounds of other people in the house, I'm so tired of this lonely silence.
I had an excellent day today! Another half-dozen people agreed to come out this weekend, though only two of them said they would spend the night. As long as they come though, that's all that really matters. If I surround myself with enough people, I'm sure a few of them will turn out to be reputable individuals that I can end up having over more often. I'm a little worried that some of them may turn out to be bad people, considering how little I know of them, but that's simply a chance I'll have to take. As long as they don't turn out to be thieves or murderers it should be alright.
I just finished dinner, a large slab of steak with a baked potato, warm soup, and a salad. It was incredibly delicious, though the rhubarb pie afterward may have been even better. Anyways, my day was not too eventful, except I finally found a sixth person to agree to spend the entire weekend. It seems I've filled the last guest bedroom now, so I can't really invite anyone else. I really hope the people will arrive that have said they would, though considering I have their phone numbers and am arranging their rides for them, a good number of them will certainly come.
My guests are finally starting to arrive, and I couldn't be more excited! I haven't had company even once in the years since my wife passed away. It is too lonely living like this though, by myself with no human contact. I'm glad I managed to make a few new acquaintances and that were willing to come out. I don't know any of them very well yet, but hopefully that will change soon. It'd be nice to actually have some company from time to time, so my goal here is to make a few friends from this lot. I believe another person has shown up, I should hurry and attend to them.
Turn 1 for LoTu)S
"I know, it certainly has been raining a lot recently."
You are standing idly, making small talk with the owner of the house. He seems pleasant enough, and you think that it was certainly gracious of him to invite all the guests to stay there for the weekend, even though he barely knew many of them. Perhaps he just enjoys the company.
You reply, "At least it isn't freezing rain, I suppose."
He chuckles a bit at the thought, as it's mid-summer and certainly hasn't been cold enough for freezing rain. He then asks, "So how are you?"
You smile back and reply, "Better then you."
You plunge the knife you'd had in your pocket into his chest, aiming for his heart. He looks dumbfounded as he drops to the floor, and gasps "Why?" with wide eyes. You reach down and take hold of the knife.
"Why not?"
You twist the blade as hard as possible, grinning as you feel the tissues within his body giving way to the sharp metal. You take a step back and admire your work, deeply satisfied and amused. You head back to your room upstairs and change into clothes that are a bit less blood-soaked, and almost as soon as you've finished, you hear a bloodcurdling scream from downstairs.
You casually walk out, carrying the bloody clothing with you, and see a few people rushing downstairs ahead of you. As you go to catch up with them, you toss the blood-soaked outfit into the bedroom that EzTerix came out of.
When you enter the room downstairs, you find Roy standing over the body. The other guests are entering from various directions as well, clearly alerted in the same manner as you. You slowly approach the motionless figure while acting surprised and fearful. The knife is still protruding from the owner's chest.
Someone checks his pulse, and confirms that he is dead. You take note of how the red pool is still expanding around the corpse, so it's clear to everyone that the murder was recent. Taking your eyes off the body, you look up at Roy, who has begun looking about the crowd. You follow his eyes and see that all the other guests are now present, consisting of Wing Zero, DavidJCobb, EzTerix, Vi3t-X, Tristana, arkla, Aristocrat, Generalpie, Nasus, rayNimagi, payne, Tempz, and Tuxedo-Templar.
Glancing about the room, you take note of the exits, and try to think back to the quick tour you had earlier to remember where each leads. This room serves as a sort of lobby, and to the south is the entrance hall that leads to the front door. To the east is the dining room, and to the north you can access the sunroom, though it is rather late at night. A staircase on the west side of the room leads up to the second floor.
Now you begin to carefully consider what your next course of action is going to be.
Turn 51 for LoTu)S
You put your personal knife in your pocket and drop the rope in the process. You pick up your original knife, and put that in your pocket as well.
After a few moments, an anonymous figure enters from the north. He is missing both sleeves of his shirt, which appear to be tied around the bottom half of his face, concealing his identity. He is holding a full bottle of whiskey in each hand. With your gun readied, you say "Goodbye, furniture." Pulling the trigger, a sudden gunshot rings out, and the top of the person's head explodes in a fine bloody mist before their body drops to the floor.
Placing the gun in your pocket and tossing your mask aside, you walk into the southern part of the garage, and move to a panel beside the large retractable door to the south. Pressing a button on it, a loud motorized noise fills the room as the door begins to open. Light pours into the room as the door rises further, and you walk out into the warmth of the morning's first rays of sunlight.
You take in a deep breath, filled with satisfaction, as you make your way to the gate out front. Someone is standing on the other side of the fence, looking at you. There's a car a short ways behind them, idling in the driveway. You run toward the man yelling "Help! Please, we need help!" When you get to the gate, you see the man is dressed in very formal attire. You determine he is likely an attendant of some kind for the owner.
He says to you in a concerned voice, "What happened?!" You reply "Everyone... everyone is..." and then drop to your knees with your face in your hands, feigning tears. You look up to see the man begin to slide a card through an electronic panel on the other side of the gate, but his hand stops as he looks back at you in kind. It seems he's noticed something about you, and you remember the blood on the front of your shirt.
The man tries to back away from the fence, but you quickly thrust your hand through the bars with one hand and draw your original knife with the other, shoving it through the rails and placing the blade hard against his throat. In an emotionless voice, you stare coldly at him and begin to speak.
"As I was saying, everyone is dead, and you'll finish opening this gate unless you want to join them."
His hand, shaking, passes the card through the electronic reader, and the gate starts to open. He looks at you with pleading eyes, and you respond by violently slashing the blade across his face. You smile and say "I didn't like your expression."
As the gate finishes opening, you step through it, and the man lies motionless on the ground beside you. You laugh to yourself a bit at the thought someone would feign death after receiving such a superficial wound, and kneel down behind him, plunging the knife into his heart. He convulses for a moment from shock and pain, then goes limp. You remark to yourself "The knife that started it has now ended it," and let out a victorious laugh.
You get in the car and start backing out of the driveway. You're saddened for a brief moment at leaving all this death behind, but you're certain there will be plenty more in your future. For now, you'll just enjoy your overwhelming sense of victory. You have truly never felt so alive.
