Well, what is your opinion of female groomsmen? I've been asked to be in my friend's groom party, and of course I've accepted the invitation. I don't even have to wear a tuxedo yay! I was a little hesitant about it at first, but it seems to have become socially acceptable. Besides, its his day, not mine, so he can have a groomswoman if he wants one. Would you guys choose a female to be in the grooms party? Why or why not?

protip: "The Bachelor Party wouldn't be fun with a chick there" is not a good enough excuse.

Sure, why not? I have a friend who considers herself "one of the guys". I don't see why that should create certain bounds or limitations in a social get-together.

If something is going to happen that she'd very disapprove of then there may be some reluctance, but that'd be true regardless.

The majority of society aren't sexist pigs. I for one would like that change of pace. I mean, if the groom is good friends with a girl (in a traditional marriage), then doesn't she deserve that spot as a groomsman? I guess it ultimately depends on how much they like hanging around you and how much you fit in. I have no objections to a female taking a traditionally male role in society.

I personally consider it "socially acceptable" as you called it.
In fact, I actually can't think of a male friend of mine that I'd ask him to be my best man or anything. My real best friends are all girls.

I usually get closer with girls than I do guys, because I tend to piss guys off more than anyone and girls, for some reason, get over the shit I do much quicker than my boys. In all honesty, if I could pick any person to suddenly be my best man, it would actually be a chick. She's been there with me through the thick and thin.

Yeah, I'd totally pick my best friend (who is a girl) to be my best man. I don't know if she'd be flattered or just weirded out by me asking that though.

It's times like these I'm glad I have a brother. When he got married, both myself and his then future brother in law were co-best men, with nobody else.

Since you're friends with said person, the bachelor party probably won't be doing anything too guy specific, or something you would not be able to handle as a woman in that situation. In fact, anyone who has a bachelor party which is that way probably shouldn't be getting married in the first place. My brother's party consisted of paintball, baseball, and beer.

but trust me If you were really Taylor Swift then I would have a girl best friend >< unless I thought I could get anywhere else besides "Best Friend". Which I am pretty sure I am not in the same league as Taylor Swift's best friend. Let alone anything else!

Well is it strange to you that some of my greatest friends are guys? They seem to get over petty crap faster than chicks do. I have my share of girlfriends...but they're not very girlie.

If you ask if I will invite any of them into my bridal party whenever I get married, I will probably say no. First, I know it'll make all of them miserable to go dress shopping with me, and to put together the little crafty things you have to put together for a wedding. As for the guy who asked me to be in his grooms party, he'll understand. After all he used to be engaged to my older sister. HAHA. That'd be funny...to have him up with me when I definitely don't want my sisters up there. I digress.
