This topic has been renovated. It is more balanced and easier to understand, and I hope to get this game running. I didn't revive the topic.
Attention one and all. Welcome to the AVATAR Mafia game based on the recent movie!
Things on my mind...
Somehow integrating interaction between the Na'vi and the RDA.
Figuring out what do do once all the Na'vi or RDA are dead and their respective Avatars remain.
Something else I'm probably forgetting.

Story
Due to a change that eliminates all interaction between the RDA and the Na'vi, the story is now completely irrelevant and is just here for show.
** The Story ** There are three, count them, THREE factions, the RDA, the Avatars, and the Na'vi. This is an experimental system for Mafia, hopefully it will work out all right.
How would this work, you might ask? Let me explain.
The RDA have come to Pandora to extract large amounts of unobtainium, which is an extremely valuable ore. However, the native species, the Na'vi, don't like the fact that not only did strange beings come out of the sky and started to tear up the jungle, the humans are also killing innocent creatures to get their ore.
In order to prevent what they think is an unnecessary all-out war, the RDA scientists have come up with an idea to "infiltrate", sabotage, and cause enough unrest between the Na'vi people so they would kill each other. This was the AVATAR program. Little did they know that the Na'vi are not mindless animals, but actually an intelligent species which are in their tribal stage of civilization.
The RDA leader on Earth personally selected humans from the colony to take part in the AVATAR program. (Those humans are randomly selected after sign ups are closed.) The Avatars themselves are not Humans, nor Na'vi, but genetically altered Na'vi grown with human DNA taken from those previously selected humans. There is one Avatar for each selected human. (For the sake of not confusing you, I am going to refer to the selected humans as Controllers, and their "Na'vi" body as Avatars.) The controllers would lie in a "Link Bed" that would, very basically, put the controllers to sleep and they would wake up as their Avatar.
For a few weeks, the Avatars were doing their job, and doing it well. They were infiltrating the Na'vi tribes and slowly but steadily becoming "one of them." But suspicions arose... a camera on an RDA bulldozer showed footage of one of the Avatars was trying to stop the bulldozer from tearing down the jungle. Only one security officer from the RDA saw it, and his attempts to alert higher officers failed, instead rumors began that the Avatars were not truly loyal to the human race.
Things were not going well on the Na'vi side of the story either. The Na'vi did notice that a couple Avatars were not really Na'vi, and they began to keep an eye on them. They had no idea of the exact number of Avatars. However, after the princess of the Na'vi tribe was found mating with one of the Avatars, and not with her intended husband, the Na'vi started to hunt the Avatars down. The Avatar that mated with her did flee from the tribe, but was killed during his escape. His controller body died from the shock. The Na'vi, knowing that there was at least one more Avatar among them, grew suspicious of each other.
The controllers were growing nervous, the RDA thought that they were against them, and in that they were right. But the RDA were wrong in the fact that they thought the Avatars sided with the Na'vi.
End of Story.
Factions
New rulz:
AVATARS vs Na'vi
AVATARS vs RDA
RDA and Na'vi do not interact with eachother.
Everything below is irrelevant.
** Factions **
So, the RDA want to kill the Na'vi, because they are in the way of their mining operations, and the Avatars, because they believe they are sided with the Na'vi against them.
The Avatars want to destroy the RDA, because they discovered the beauty of the world Pandora and they don't want the RDA to hurt it anymore. They also want to kill the Na'vi basically for revenge for their dead friend. (Nobody knows that one of their own had mated with the Na'vi princess, much less who it was.)
And lastly, the Na'vi wanted the Avatars dead because their princess is no longer a virgin, and they want the RDA wiped off of the face of Pandora for destroying some of the planet's wildlife just to get some rocks.
The Avatars are basically the mafia, with the RDA and the Na'vi being two opposing groups of Townspeople.
The game will end when only one faction remains, or, when a secret condition is fulfilled that only I know.
Lynching
New rulz: Regular lynching system for RDA. Lynching happens during day, obviously.
For the Na'vi, however, that is reversed. They vote to lynch during the night, and the "mafia" are active during the day.
Everything below is still relevant.
** Lynching **
I want the lynchee's name posted so obtrusively that a blind person could read it (I will take no offense ). This is done in this topic, and not via PMs. (Obvious, but I MUST explain everything )
Players may choose to abstain from lynch voting. If you want to, simply say "I abstain."
Hunting
Hunting is irrelevant now.
** Hunting ** Every Second Day, starting with Day 2 (i.e. Days 2, 4, 6, etc.), each Na'vi and RDA member may take a vote to hunt and kill one member of each others faction. You do not vote in this topic, all votes MUST be PMed to me. Sorry for the shouting... I have to do it otherwise some nitwit will surely forget it...
Roles/Abilities
** Roles/Abilities **
-RDA- (Resources Development Administrastion)
General: Role: He is the leader of the RDA. Voted for before the game starts, the General's abilities overlap with his previous abilities if he had any, (i.e. the General can be a Doctor and be able to use both abilities)
---Abilities: Lynch votes count as two.
---Other: He gets one bodyguard, and he cannot die (except by lynching) as long as the bodyguard is still alive.
Doctor: Role: A medical man who specializes in... pretty much everything.
---Abilities: Once per night, he can prevent one person from dieing. (Actions sent via PM, obviously)
---Other: The Doctor can't perform operations on himself. (Cannot target self)
Colonist: Role: A simple colonist on Pandora (Townsperson)
---Abilities: None.
Bodyguard: Role: A trained professional who will stop at nothing to protect General whoever.
---Abilities: None.
---Other: As long as the Bodyguard is alive the General cannot die during the night.
Photographer (Tracker): Role: A civilian who has tired of photographing Pandora's plants and has decided to put his camera to better use.
---Abilities: Follows one person every night, taking pictures of wherever that person goes and whoever that person visits. (Will know who Player 1 visited, if Player 1 visited anyone at all)
Security Officer: Role: A tired soldier who has retired from the front lines and spends his time with local law enforcement.
---Abilities: Picks one person every night, and the Security Officer stands outside of that person's door and that person is prevented from going anywhere or doing anything during that night. If that person is an Avatar, they will fight each other and there either the Security Officer or the Avatar will die. The chances are 50/50.
Martyr: Role: Once a normal Soldier, now insane from all the terrible things he has beheld from all his life, is convinced that he knows who is the cause of the impending war. He will do anything to prevent it from happening, and that some people must die.
---Abilities: The Martyr can kill ANY member of the RDA, and he gives his life doing this. Cannot target General unless his bodyguard is dead. This ability can only be used during the night.
-Avatars-
Avatars: Role: The Avatars are the mafia in this game. They know who each other are.
---Abilities: Every night, an Avatar can kill someone on the same faction that they appear to be on. An Avatar appearing to be a Na'vi can only kill them during the day.
An Avatar appearing to be RDA can only kill them during the night.
---Other: Each Avatar may kill one person of their choosing. If the kill targets overlap, too bad.
-Na'vi-
Chieftain: Role: He is the leader of the Na'vi. Voted for before the game starts, the Chieftain's abilities overlap with his previous abilities if he had any, (i.e. the Chieftain can be a Shaman and be able to use both abilities)
---Abilities: 1 Lynch vote counts as two.
---Other: He gets one bodyguard, and he cannot die (except by lynching) as long as the bodyguard is still alive.
Bodyguard: Role: A trained warrior since birth who will not under any conditions let the Chieftain be harmed.
---Abilities: None.
---Other: As long as the Bodyguard is alive the General cannot die during the Day.
Shaman: Role: A mystical Na'vi who has special protective powers bestowed upon him, and that he can only grant to others.
---Abilities: Once per Day, he can prevent one person from dieing. (Actions sent via PM)
---Other: The Shaman cannot bestow a shield upon himself. (Cannot target self)
Native: A local Na'vi.
---Abilities: None.
Sentry: Role: This able-bodied warrior is known to be a tad trigger-happy... the Na'vi are somewhat afraid of him, even though he is only trying to do what he thinks is best for the tribe.
---Abillities: Every Day, the Sentry may follow one Na'vi around. If that target person is visited by anyone, the Sentry will kill the first person visiting his target (Determined by order of day actions). Anyone else visiting the target on the same day will find out who the Sentry is and will be given the ability to kill the Sentry whenever they want. (Sent via PM)
Please suggest a name for this role: Role: This Na'vi is extremely doubtful of others. He goes out of his way to make sure that those he distrusts are prevented from talking to the tribe.
---Abilities: Every Day, this role will kidnap someone. The kidnapped someone is prevented from talking during the next night AND cannot perform any Day actions during the next Day. The Kidnapped is released from this role's hold one full Night and Day after he is kidnapped.
Cultist: Role: An extremist of the tribe, he was shunned and singled out during his younger years, he is now certain that because of the coming of the Sky People (RDA) and the Dreamwalkers (Avatars), that everyone is paying for what he suffered. But this includes himself... and he wants to end it. Just end it all. He knows who is most responsible for this, and he will make that person die in agony.
---Abilities: The Cultist can sacrifice himself to kill ANY member of his faction. Cannot target Chieftain unless his bodyguard is dead. This ability can be used only during day.
Victory/Game Over Conditions

Please tell me about any errors I made in this post.
Any suggestions regarding roles, balance, "what to do if...", or anything really, are welcome.
Any questions are welcome.
Some rules are subject to change... if I totally messed up on something.
Rules MIGHT change under certain conditions during the game in order to keep it going... like if all the Na'vi are dead and the remaining Avatars in the Na'vi tribe are still alive.
