Whats the best program to cut down music tracks? I'm not going to use Sound Recorder at all and cut it down every 3 seconds, thats just madness. I just can't think of any free programs that will do this. Does anyone know whats the best free program for wav editing? Thanks.

Well... I personally use sndrec32 (Sound Recorder) for wav editing/compressing, mainly because I haven't found any free programs that work better. I guess you could search the web, but I'll be willing to bet that you'll find converters more often than editors...

This is borderline on-topic. Technically, while wav files are related to mapmaking, editing wav files is not really what this section is for...
Maps made by Roy
New Map Types:
Interceptor Arena, Dash 2, Dash 3, Dash 4, Dash 5 (New), Cannonball (New)
Bounds:
WoW Bound, WoW Bound 2, NuBs Bound

I using goldwave 4 for many years now.

Its very simple, nevertheless offers advanced functions, uses just a few mbs on the harddrive, there's no need to install and my serial gets me rid of any restrictions to the shareware.

I've been using Audacity for any sound editing needs I encounter.

Use Audacity for music editing, and use Sound Recorder for compression, compress it to 16 bit 8.000 khz for smallest size!

8 Bit works fine with no noticable loss of quality.
When using 8kHz or 11kHz you got no high frequencies which especially cripples the drum set.

Staredit compresses 16-bit much better than 8-bit - so much so that the 8-bit would actually add more space to the map than a 16-bit .WAV.

That was for best compression, if you're going for quality AND size then I'd stick with the 11.025 khz, and 16 bit.

While it may not have complex functions like gold wave, "Audacity" is very easy to use, and effective. you can download Audacity at Audacity.SourceForge.net
