I have a friend that sometimes threatens other people with knives. He's joking about it, but sometimes he takes a knife and brings it dangerously close to my other friend's neck. We don't think he would deliberately harm us, but we're concerned that he might accidentally cut us. How can we stop him from doing this? When we go to his house, we can't stop him from taking out his own knifes (no matter how dull they may be). He's not a psychopath in any way (he doesn't threaten anyone anywhere anytime else, he only jokes with knifes).

That friend is a dumbass, and you probably should just drop the guy. If you aren't willing to do that then don't go to his house.

I honestly think he doesn't really understand the consquences of his actions, you'll probably have to beat it into him that knives are dangerous and you shouldn't be playing with them. Otherwise, time to cut ties.

If he won't stop, because he thinks he's so tough.. then stay away from him. To be honest.. this is a rather serious issue and you really should not try to shrug this off. You and your friends' safety is at risk. This is not even funny.

I did it a couple of times joking around to my friends and I was surprised by how scared "BRO WHAT ARE YA DOINGZ!?". I can't believe they thought I would do it.




If it were me on the other end I would have just been like "Do it faggot". Try it. Post results.

The next time you see him, before he actually does it again, you casually say "Hey man, you know that thing you do where you point knives at us? To be honest, it makes us feel uncomfortable. You think you could not do it anymore?"

If he asks why, you say "Really? You need an explanation why we don't like being threatened with knives?" and give a look.

If he says yes, you say "No, I'm not explaining it. It should be common sense. Seriously, don't do it again."

Most likely, he'll agree after the first question and that will be the end of it. It'll take you ten seconds and keep your friendship intact.
