So I'm interested in running an .exe file located inside a map....where would I start?(yes I know I need EUD actions and already know the basics of EUDs)

None.

This has been discussed on a theoretical level, but as far as I know nobody has actually come up with a solution for running an executable through EUDAs. I can immediately see potential permissions issues depending on the current player's OS for running an executable through another program (SC), let alone actually finding a way to write values to cause the execution to happen (just pointing at the .exe file wouldn't be enough, would it?).

What executable is in the map that you want to run? It's more than likely what you want to accomplish can be done more easily and reliably through a mod.

It's possible,. EUD is powerful enought.
Change return address at stack to location of your shellcode with EUD.
Your shellcode should be located in executable region, which won't be that hard to find. (ex : STR Section - SMemAlloc sucks)
It's even possible to merge DLL into your map. (MPQ has 512 byte boundary, so put your vector map behind some DLL and rename it to .scx.)

But it seems very undesirable for the map I'm playing to execute some kind of shellcode.
Map shouldn't do anything what I wouldn't expect. (EX : Saving game by changing computer registery or rwing file or something, Self-injecting mod plugin, ...)

I would think you need to know assembly, but that's about all I can come up with. Heinermann probably knows more about starcraft than anyone else, so he would be the one to ask. I think he was the one who initially found that eud actions could run an exe file.
