What's the point of trigedit(SCMDraft2)?
I mean, trigedit is basically the old trigger editor combined with the Java programming language.
I'm just curious.

None.

It's a writable form of making triggers. It's useful for changing a bunch of things in a bunch of triggers at once. You can paste the text into another program and find/replace certain things and then paste it all back into trigedit.

It's not Java. It's its own language syntax which it uses to convert text into triggers. This can be beneficial for a number of reasons:

1) It's faster to edit text than it is to open several dialog windows and change a value (though this is usually negligible since SCMD is poor at finding specific triggers in the text editor)
2) It's easier to copy/paste/modify sets of triggers
3) It allows easy generation of triggers following a set of rules (e.g., for macros and generator programs)

Here are some programs that take advantage of the text trigger editor:

And honorable mention to Farlap (which I wrote as just a find/replace program, but it has applicable usage with the SCMD text trigger editor, as seen by this post).

Thanks, but I didn't mean like it had the Java syntax.
I meant that it was similar to Java.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort
