This is our fourth lab. I actually have a firm grasp on chemistry, I just made a mistake. It just was painful reading "add 10 mL of [solution we poured out]".

I woke up at 530 to grade a PT test, but all three of the fat fucks I graded failed. For the third time. WTF

It's not like they're just going to become less fat if you test them more.
Failing once is certainly enough to tell you that you need to get in better shape for the redo in two weeks. Failing twice is more than enough to tell you to get in shape. Failing three times is fucking absurd.

You need to alter their reactivity with the higgs field. Also I'm pretty sure he was just calling them "fat fucks" because they aren't in good enough condition to go through the PT, rather than being actually fat.
One of them actually was fat, the other two were just weak. Still, it is absurd to me that you can attend a military college and be so physically unfit.

 OK that was damn funny!

I am excited by what Sac said about being able to alter mass I have always been depressed about FTL travel basically being impossible. I'm actually still confused as hell about time dilation Sac how can you travel the known universe in only 53 years (from your perspective) if you are moving at the speed of light when the known universe is like a bazillion lightyears in length/width/breadth/whatever??

EDIT: OK I got this quote from Carl Sagan's Cosmos, Episode 8, timestamp: 32:45. I quickly transcribed it so you know what I'm talking about:
Suppose that the spacecraft is designed to accelerate at 1g, so we would be comfortable aboard it. We would be going closer and closer to the speed of light, until the mid-point of the journey. Then the spacecraft is turned around and we decelerate at 1g to the destination.

For most of the trip the velocity would be very close to the speed of light and time would slow down enormously. By how much? Barnard's star could be reached by such a ship in eight years, ship time. The centre of the Milky Way galaxy, in 21 years. The Andromeda galaxy in 28 years. Of course, the people left behind on the Earth would see things somewhat differently. Instead of 21 years to the centre of the galaxy they would measure it as 30 000 years. When we got back, very few of our friends would be around to greet us.

In principle, such a journey, mounting the decimal points closer and closer to the speed of light, would even permit us to circumnavigate the known universe in 56 years - ship time. We would return 10s of billions of years in the far future, with the Earth, a charred cinder and the sun - dead. Relativistic space-flight makes the universe accessible to advanced civilisations, but only to those who go on the journey, not to those who stay home.

Quote from TiKels
I spent three hours (it starts at 12:00) at in lab to find out that we dumped our second-to-final product because the instructions said "empty the volumetric flask". When it really meant for us to "store the contents of the flask in a separate beaker". We just bs'd our results and the professor told my lab partner that we should check our calculations. My partner was pretty oblivious and looked to me for a way out like "what else could we do?" so I turn to the TA and I say to him assertively "Do you want us to redo our experiment?" The guy, who has only been in the US for about 3 months (chinese), looks at me, almost stutters as he says "I don't know" very meek and reserved-like.

We hand in the incorrect calculations and leave. It's pouring down rain. I'm wearing my nice pants and my black collared shirt. I haven't eaten yet all day.
I feel like crap.
Shiiiit was this like for an exam or something? This was painful to read!!

Can't you just say you read the instructions wrong or something? I don't know the context.

Uhh for my day I was at my dad's visiting him while I am on my midsemester break. Doing some amateur astronomy with him we get very good seeing at his place he is like 20km from civilisation lol. Then two hour drive back to Brissie geting ready for my overnight shift at MacD's tonight!!!

I'll probably get a shitty grade on it. It was a lab assignment, which we have every thursday. I've gotten 100% on all of them except the last which was an 85% due to our electronic balances being shitty.

Well my wireless NIC went out a couple of days ago, so I ran a really, really long cat 5e all the way to my room after buying a length of it and crimping it to a decent size. Yesterday, my router died. I am now connected through a telephone cable to my modem.

Today, an attractive woman moved into the apartment across the hall. She seemed nice, so my roommate and I introduced ourselves to her. Thanks to my roommates genius, we ended up having to "do her a favor" by driving across town to her ex-boyfriend's place to pick up her TV. When her ex-boyfriend opened the door, we realized that he was about seven feet tall and could easily beat up both of us. We asked for the TV back and came home without pants. Our neighbor apologized for her request and offered to take us out to dinner. I'm pretty sure my roommate is in love with her already.

Win by luck, lose by skill.

Yer Ray's story feels really familiar. Like the plot to a movie or something. I swear I've seen it somewhere before.

We went to the butterfly pavilion, then we went and saw a movie. :kame: Now we're watching Rifftrax and Eclipse. Soon I shall go to bed and dream about butterflies.

The Big Bang Theory.

More specifically, he wrote it from the perspective of Sheldon Cooper.

The people I work with think that the Big Bang Theory is the most brilliant tv show ever made. I don't understand why, the jokes aren't even that funny, and for how 'realistic' the nerds are supposed to be I knew very few nerds that acted like any of them.

I kinda doubt they're supposed to be all that realistic :P They humor is in that they are acting similar to 'real nerds', and then pushing it + a dose of mild insanity, classified government equipment, and an equally unique gaggle of girls - not the most brilliant show ever made, I'd agree - but quite funny! My friends and I enjoyed comparing Sheldon's mannerisms to a specific friend of ours who had his spot where no one else could sit, was very anal about what we could touch, and hated fun/people; good times :)

I've said it in the sbox before. A coworker at a meeting on Friday said WHAT THIS COMPANY NEEDS IS A SHELDON COOPER LOLOLOL. God I don't even get it. I never see him do anything in the Big Bang Theory that makes me think he is smarter than anyone else on any sit com ever.
