- HOST'S OBSERVATIONS -
I set out trying to make this game as confusing as possible for people, and I think I succeeded. Not bad for my first time hosting, if I do say so myself. It became clear early on that few people knew who to trust, and the Cylons easily took advantage of the budding alliances. I don't even think that anyone suspected Aristocrat for the entire game.
I started this whole process by creating a list of clues that could be attributed to each player prior to even sorting out the roles. This list included references to posts, avatars, signatures, maps, Google search results, etc. My fear originally was that some clues would be entirely too easy to pick up, but that didn't seem to be the case ultimately. It also doesn't help that only a few people actually do clue analysis and one of them had never even been correct. This is pretty much why I eventually just gave out that easy Roman numeral clue to throw the Crew a bone.
It was interesting to watch how close the Crew was to figuring out Cylon roles right off the bat, but just barely missing the chance to. On Night 1, Roy investigated Aristocrat and then changed it to Dem0nS1ayer, but became seduced. On that same night, xAngelSpiritx investigated Azrael.Wrath, who was cleared. Had either of the Scientist findings gone through, the Crew would have known at least 1 and at most 2 Cylons by Day 1. Similarly, had the Crew lynched Lingie over their Doctor on Day 1, there would have been 1 less killing role.
The way that the Crew split was also really fascinating. Both Roy and Jack had been filling me in on events throughout the game.
- Due to the Crew losing the Vigilante and Mortician on Night 1, it seemed like it was easy for the Cylons to start assuming their roles if they wanted to. Aristocrat saw this as his opportunity to claim Mortician and join Roy's team. Roy explained to me that Aristocrat had also tricked Lignie into revealing his role as Hitman by claiming to be the Traitor. Clever Aristocrat.
- xAngelSpiritx was also forming an alliance under the assumption that Roy fakeclaimed Scientist and that he was the only Scientist in the game. His alliance grew to include Excalibur, Jack, Dem0nS1ayer, and Norm - though Excalibur, Jack, and Roy had already come to an agreement regarding how they didn't trust xAngelSpiritx's claim. By now both alliances also had two Cylons who they believed were confirmed Crew.
- Jack apparently decided he should fake-claim the Bomb to trick the Cylons, though he told this plan to a Cylon so it clearly wasn't as successful as planned.
- By Day 3, when xAngelSpiritx had revealed his role, Roy's alliance consisting of Azrael.Wrath, Aristocrat, and Tempz decided he was lying and had him lynched (another missed opportunity to lynch Lingie, as well).
- On Night 4, the Crew's only "confirmed" Townie, Roy, was killed. This is also the night that he investigates lil-Inferno. By now Roy seemed to already know lil-Inferno was a Cylon considering he used Raitaki's PM to claim Crewmember (the same PM Norm used, as well), but wanted proof. In the event that he would die, he gave his findings to Riney along with a list of names of trustworthy players (including the not-so-trustworthy Cylons on the team), which is what led to Riney's death in the following night.
- Night 6 was probably the most intersting as far as strategy goes. With 4 Cylons (2 being Hitmen) and 6 Crew left, it would seem like killing 2 and out-voting the Crew would be the best strategy. Instead, they decided to hit one, use Aristocrat to claim Echo was a Hitman, and then continue to control the town for another cycle. Pretty sadistic. Also I'm not sure why no one bothered to think that Aristocrat was lying considering he publicly claimed Mortician and was never hit. Oh well.
As a side note, I really did mess up the investigation results on Night 2, but obviously I couldn't confirm or deny it. On Night 1, I had sent the result saying Azrael.Wrath was a "Crewmember" rather than "member of the Crew" and that seemed to cause a bit of confusion as it was assumed I revealed his role as Crewmember. On the following Night, I was in a rush to send out the results, so I simply said to Roy "You are 100% sure Norm is a Cylon" and to xAngelSpiritx "You are 100% sure Excalibur is the Security Officer." I didn't think about it until the next day when I sent him an "OH FUCK I SENT YOU THE ROLE AND NOT ALLIANCE INFO" type of PM. I also explained that by "Crewmember" on Night 1's result, I meant "member of the Crew" and this would be fixed in future results. My goal with the results was to originally add a percentage (always keeping it between 90 and 99) with a short paragraph explaining what happened, so each night there was still some doubt that the result was accurate even if it was. The "100%" results screwed this plan up, obviously, but it didn't seem like it would have made a difference had xAngelSpiritx not claimed Scientist and tried to discredit Roy.
In conclusion, I'd say that Vrael was probably the best Crew player in this game. I added pieces to the night posts that were supposed to make people go back and look at older posts over again, and he did just that. I wasn't sure if anyone would accurately figure out the Third Testament clue, but he did (unfortunately leading to his death). Though I always appreciate Roy's analysis, he comes in a close second. He didn't catch a lot of my intentional clues, unfortunately, and he was ultimately swayed by the Cylons. The best Cylon would have to be Aristocrat. Fantastic espionage. As I mentioned above, I still don't think anyone suspected him.
Overall GG Crew and Cylons. I hope it was fun.

Since the recent assassination attempt on Commander Adama's life, you have grown more paranoid toward your fellow crew. Who else on this frakking ship could be a skinjob? Right now it is you against the world, as far as you're concerned, and you're prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice to kill as many Cylons as you can.

Still shaken from the recent attack on Commander Adama's life, you can't help but feel guilty for not being able to save him. Not only was it your duty to protect Adama, you also knew him as a good friend. You're sure this wont happen again as you make it your new responsibility to protect your fellow Crewmembers and rid the fleet of the Cylon infiltrators.

VIGILANTE - NudeRaider
You quietly stash your weapon, knowing in your heart that killing Sharon and avenging Commander Adama was the right thing to do. Finding out she was a Cylon was just the icing on the cake at this point. Sharon is just one of many now, you justify to yourself. It's time to take the law into your own hands.

DOCTOR - Jack
You hover over Commander Adama as Dr. Cottle applies pressure to his wound. Despite the utter chaos, you can't help but zone out completely. While Cottle is barking orders to you and the rest of the medical staff, you remain introverted. How could this happen? How could Sharon do this? How could the Cylons look like us?
You are the DOCTOR.
DOCTOR - poison_us
Dr. Cottle gives you a piercing look as Commander Adama is rushed into your medical bay. You know you need to keep your composure, but it is still difficult to stay focused. First they destroy our planet, and now they come close to killing the one man who can lead us to a new home. You just have to shake it off and keep saving lives. That's what you do best.

SCIENTIST - Roy
Gaius Baltar has been incessantly pacing back and forth since the news of the assassination attempt. You know for a fact he had tested Sharon Valerii's blood before and cleared her. He claims the device works, though, and right now you have no choice but to trust that. The pressure of processing the fleet's samples hasn't quite hit you yet, but unfortunately you realize it will soon.
You are the SCIENTIST.
SCIENTIST - xAngelSpiritx
Unrest has plagued the fleet since the news of Sharon Valerii's true identity, but unfortunately you can only process one sample at a time. It will take a year or more to test everyone. How long until that seems futile? You have to keep going as quickly as possible. The fate of humanity could rest on your shoulders.
You are the SCIENTIST.
QUORUM MEMBER - Tempz
President Roslin's words seemed to haunt you after your meeting. You found strength in knowing her faith was placed in you, but that may wear thin as time progresses. The threat of the Cylons is becoming more emininet. Though you wish you had known about the humanoid Cylons sooner, you aren't too sure if the surprise would have been much different.

MORTICIAN - Voyager7456
The fact that Sharon Valerii had what seemed to be flesh and blood amazed you more than frightened you. This is absolutely incredible. Without a doubt there are more of them out there, but where did they come from? The thought of studying Sharon is an exciting endeavor, and you have faith that the research from your autopsy will aid future cases. Hopefully you'll have more subjects to study sooner rather than later.

SECURITY OFFICER - Excalibur
Commander Adama had been shot by Sharon Valerii. Sharon Valerii had been shot and killed while in your custody. You find it difficult to decipher just how you feel after seeing your prisoner murdered in vengeance. You have always been strong when it came to upholding the law, but a part of you admires this vigilante. You know you can't take the law into your own hands, but you will do everything you can to make sure Cylons are locked away. Each and every one of them is just as responsible for the assassination of the Commander as that fraking skinjob, Sharon.

You are still having a hard time grasping reality. Sharon is a Cylon. A photo of you and Sharon at the academy still sits on your desk. You aren't really sure what to feel when you look at it. Was she a Cylon back then, too? How the frak is this happening?

CREWMEMBER - Wing Zero
You are finding it increasingly difficult to pay attention during the CAG's briefing. As Starbuck even motions for you to pay attention, you can't stop thinking about the empty seat next to you. It never once crossed your mind that Sharon was a Cylon. Did she even know she was one?

CREWMEMBER - Echo
You realize that you need to continue your routine on the deck crew as if nothing had changed, but doing so is difficult. The Commander is recovering, but the threat of the Cylons is closer than ever before. Who else on this deck is a Cylon?

CREWMEMBER - Vrael
You are a recent addition to the crew and don't know Commander Adama well enough to really care about his assassination attempt on a personal level. The idea of Cylons parading around as humans makes you miss home more than anything. An odd feeling given the circumstances. You get your work done on the ship, business as usual, looking forward to the idea of finding a new home on Earth.

Just hours ago you witnessed Commander Adama getting shot by a fellow crewmember. You did nothing to stop it from happening. How could you? No one could have known that would happen, right? You keep telling yourself that you would have stopped her if you could have. Whether or not that is true is unknown.

A Cylon is a Cylon. They're all fraking toasters as far as you're concerned. Almost losing the Commander means a lot to you, but you never knew nor cared about the pilot who shot him. You feel safer knowing someone out there is brave enough to take matters into his own hands. You just wish you could do more to help.

Sharon was a Cylon, so anyone else could be as well, right? The thought of that is sending you to a more drastic state. You feel that you need to look out for only yourself now. Luckily, no one has noticed yet that you pilfered a bulletproof vest, and you plan to keep it that way.

Now that the news about Sharon being a Cylon has spread, you can't help but thank the Gods that you have your own bulletproof vest to keep you safe. Before you joined the crew, you specifically remember Kara busting your chops for it. "Like you'll ever need that," you remember her saying. Who's laughing now?

It doesn't seem to bother you one bit that the Eight attempted to kill Galactica's Commander so soon. While the others are becoming more worried for their safety, you take comfort in knowing you've managed to insert yourself into this crew with absolutely no issue.

You feel validated and ready to jump to similar conclusions about your fellow "Crewmembers."

TRAITOR - Dem0nS1ayer
Something wakes you up in the middle of the night. For the past couple nights, you've been hearing music coming from the ship. Now that sound is even louder, preventing you from doing any thinking of your own. You question your own sanity? Hearing music from a ship is ridiculous. You must be going crazy.
Then the sound stops. Everything suddenly becomes clearer in your head. You aren't sure why, or even how you came to the conclusion, but you just now know you are a Cylon.
You are the TRAITOR, with the added benefit of the CYLON MOLE.
You know there are other Cylons on the ship, but you aren't sure who to trust. Every time you close your eyes and try to think about it, your thoughts are clouded with black and white and red. What is this image you keep seeing?

). As far as analyzing the tone of character dialogue, this would be a reference to Azrael.Wrath.
Hopefully this does not affect our alliances in future games. And Roy actually figured out the identities of every Cylon player within the first two nights, his list minus me and plus AngelSpirit. One huge threat no matter which side he's on.
