In my map that I have, I'm trying to trick people.
But it will only work if I can make their colors the same.
It's a melee map but when it starts all you see is your units mining and you can't control them.
But when you talk your the same exact color.
How do I make it so your text shows up the same exact color as another player?
I tried setting the colors the same in SCMDraft but it only looks that way in editor.

If you want that effect you'll have to make it a UMS.

You can't run AI scripts unless its a UMS.
It's already a UMS, I wanted to know why Its not working while its a UMS

Likely you need to make it a .scx. Player colors will only work if the map is an .scx (as opposed to .scm, which is playable on both Brood War and regular StarCraft).

If you just started your map then you better remake it as .scx. I think ScmDraft could mess your map up later if you started it as scm and later save it as scx.
I'm not sure if that was the (only) reason but I had that problem with a map of mine: It changed my custom color settings back to standard colors and didn't respond to any color player color change whatsover. I had to revert to and older version.

Untrue. It just has to be a Brood War map.

Being unable to save a map from SCM to SCX would be a very terrible bug, and I doubt that such a bug exists. Even StarForge can do it, if that means anything to you.

Remember that simply having the .scx extension does not make it a Brood War map. You must specify that it is a Brood War map when saving.

Well Farty, this bug exists. I had it myself and a friend of mine too. I think there's even a topic describing this problem somewhere.

I'm not sure what causes this bug, but from what I experienced I think saving it to scx has something to do with it. Probably there are other factors too, because I agree, it would be a bug too obvious to exist if it was only the saving.

yeah im hittin this problem too

so theres no other way to change colors without going to an old versoin?

and i placed a brood war unit down and then clicked save so it'd be a scx, but you said it could mess up your map later on, what does that mean?

Making it SCX should cause no problems... I have no idea what Nude is talking about.

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

I guess you have starcraft running and you opened the map or loaded all map data in the owm map/game menu. You are allowed to save watching the main campaign screen with the 3 animated units.

okay now i cant make locations

it says that i wont be able to save in vanilla format and that the location limit is reached and im only at 60 locations

what the heck?

Vanilla sc only supports 64 locations. So if you have Starcraft BEFORE v1.04 then you're in trouble. Otherwise just ignore this warning.

Geez when you post in a topic one would think you read it...
What I mean by mess up is what is described above:

To summarize:
He set player colors in ScmDraft, but StarCraft shows standard colors instead.
My guess: A ScmDraft bug. (Possibly caused by saving from scm to scx PLUS more unknown factor(s))
My suggestion: Ignore the warning you got. Make backups. Revert to backup in case of bug.
